If you only have a resist or not mechanic it is like having dotch or not. But in combat you also have a defense value which reduces the damage (correct?). Another reason: Why should a creature/preason restist flames (from a fire ball). This is a physical effect. I agree for say shrink or such spells, but "physical magic" should have some effect.
Protip: don't mix science with magic.
So I was trying to figure out why AI players dropped like flies in the game. The reason is a bit funny. So, a sovereign goes and gets killed by a monster. The monster has targeted that unit. The unit isn’t dead (it’s a sovereign) but merely transported home to its capital. Monster follows and double kills sovereign – and city he’s in. Game over. There are characters in the game who were around before the cataclysm, certainly they wouldn't forget that horses could be ridden or that things could be made out of metal!
Case 1: Peasant Joe: "So I heard that you were already alive back in the old times."
Mage Dominates late game with the use of only four spells. What is a waste is that the game has so many useless spells. That is what's badly designed, the whole magic system doesn't quite exactly work with the current numbers. Tactical Battles are too fast, too small, too underwhelming. When I think Tactical Battles, I think Warhammer Table Top. Seriously, the developers of this game need to just sit back and spend about two weeks just

My "cannon fodder" eats enemy Champions for breakfast. I joke not. My Champions shine against big monsters but my troops are not useless there either. There are already traits like Leadership and Tactician in the game. Stuff like flanking shouldn't be unlocked by Champion traits though but by tech tree.

Challenging difficulty (and anything under it) Champions: try to get at least two Champions (altough one can work, preferably if he can use some kind of magic, prefereably fire). One must be specialized as mage; the other one depends as having some kind of meless tank/dps is important but having him with some magical abilities can be very useful. So Path of the Mage for one and the other may be tank with Path of the Mage or Path of the Warrior. </p

I want to try a game without magic from my Sovereign and focuses in regular troops (more than usual). I picked lots of supporting stuff for the artificial weakness of not using magic with my Sovereign. When in the Choose Opponents screen, the Traits list showed this:

About unrecruited Champions: To recruit Champions of your faction you need to research (except for the most basic ones). Do we have the same requeriment to attack Champions of the opposing faction.

0.76: tried on a Champion. Worked fine. It allows me to select regular troops but doesn't work (I read the patchnotes that's why I mention it)

Maul is rediculous because it trumps special abilities. Maul would be fine if it functioned once at half damage. I would even be okay with letting special abilities proc maul if it worked this way. Indeed all special abilites shou
I would like to start one of those annoying groups that people join to stop something that scares them. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) has made great progress in getting underage teens to sleep over at the house they are illegally drinking at and deaths have gone down. I too want to stop unnecessary deaths. Maul, even with the -4 to Accuracy per strike is killing our heroes. Making the penalty to Accuracy higher is the only way to stop this senseless violenc

I'd recommend stardock not listen to people who are intent on ruining the game for a vast majority of people. In my games, I usually try to clear the initial area before I take any quest. In my last game, during the first turns and before I tried to pick any quest, I saw one quest hut dissapear leaving only the visual effect. It happens in turn 13 which happens at the same time as my Barracks arefinished. But even rushing Barracks and building nothing else, the hut still dissapears by turn 13. </p

Yes, some people are basement dwellers who love the core' experience, cool, to each its own but not everyone is a core player, and im fairly sure this isnt intended to be a hardcore only game. Mana is a limited resource that you must carefully use as you would do with Gildars, Horses or Iron. Mana is not scarce beyond the early game but there is nothing wrong in using normal troops to complement your nuker.
I support this suggestion. Easier than having to drop back to the menu and load a quicksave. And if there are people that like a more "hardcore" experience, then there can be a pre-game option to disable the "redo" button.
It's not "Hardcore", it's "default" experience. You ask for a "softcore" experience. "Hardcore" would fall in "No saves except for autosave when about to leave the game".

Those who want to reload will do it whenever something they don't like happens, that includes "Oh, my Champion got -1 to Strength!". Back in WoM, dying in battle was permadeath for the Champions. Keeping your nuker after he died in battle even if he loses 15% of HP, is better than death (especially if the nuker is high level and had lots of magic items). Reloaders gonna reload?
