My guess is that 1.3 is the end of the road for vanilla FE as far as SD patches go and they're gonna leave the ironing out of the remaining bugs and evolving the game further as a whole to the modding community, while they themselves focus on LH, DLC for LH, expansions for LH etc. Why? Because they have to think in economic terms... That shows best in the fact that they're now selling vanilla FE for 66% off to squeeze out some extra bucks before releasing LH and for getting so

I bet the Steam fanbois aound will have a suitable explanation like: You're a dumbass or that's your rig malfunctioning and not Shit errr Steam. [e digicons]:|[/e]
No list of "Fixed issue where AI settles on top of ressources, outposts n stuff", so I guesss this was neglected onece again. [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
Funny huh? Frog answers the Q about the beta but is afraid to stand up and explain his decision to abandon his self proclaimed bill of gamers' rights by forcing steam dwon our throats!
but there are players that cannot upgrade to LH
Or will not due to steam being mandatory...
Hmm, in that case damage done would be probably not be reduced by the units' acid resistance either, I guess. [e digicons];P[/e]
It's a stand alone expansion just like AoW: Shadow Magic. You will even be able to install it parallel to the original game.
As the LH FAQ states an x-bow bolt goes through five units standing in line. Basically a nice idea. BUT seriously: Would you expect an x-bow bolt to go through the same number of units if at least one of the first ones in line was clad in chain or full plate or had a shield as if they'd all be in leather rags? That would be the same as a fireball doing the same amount of damage to all units no matter how high their fire resistance was.
Crossbows have been added to the game and they are powerful short range weapons, they strike through 5 enemy units in a line.
I really DO HOPE that they make that number actually depend on how well the targetted untits are armored! How stupid would it be to see a bolt go through the same number of units if at least one of the first in line was clad in full plate or had shields as if they'd all be in underwear... Well, whereas essence is all nice n helpful, having a few 3/4s usually is fine with me. Though I have to admit that tiles with less than 3 in materials are quite useless, unless it's got at least one essence slot for enchanted hammers and/or a clay quarry right next to it... I'm curious as to what the Procedural tile yield generation will do, though. Since I'm still playing on 1.2...
no matter how many levels you get, and even if you take the path of the mage, you're probably going to be stuck with I and II level spells
Errrr, nope! No matter which magic school(s) my sov had, he got to Archmage in that/those school(s) quite quickly in each n every game I played so far.
drop the element base in magic, and just have a pool of magic instead.
Errr, nope! Because that would be changing the most important game core mechanic and hence turning this game into something else it was not supposed to be. This is NOT an AD&D game. End of story. Btw. MoM which was this game's - well how to put it - spiritual ancestor also drew it's fun from the combination of magic schools you could choose from upon creation of your sov/faction.
I think that's a tiny tad negative.
*laughs* Oh, doesn't fanboism feel all warm n cozy?! This game ist fucked up in many ways (though not as many as WoM) and still people try to tell people who state things the way they are, they are just all negative n stuff... *rollseyes*
The game does feel somewhat unfinished, but weren't the Galciv games the same at release ?
Yes, and that was bad enough. Shame on them that they're stil
Still playing Altari so thats all I've got at the moment.
*LOL* For some reason I read: "Still playing Atari ..." and wondered how he manages to get the game running. [e digicons]:omg:[/e] [e digicons][/e] Got no fancy screenshot. But as has been suggested otherwise Mages with the go first in combat trait can be quite helpful against i. e. Dark Mages.
YOU HEAR THAT, BRAD! That should be fixed for 1.3. Or is that just one of the advantages the AI gets on higher difficulty levels? To quote Al from Home Improvement: "I don't think so, Tim!" ;D
You're kidding me, right?! Don't tell me I wasted my sov's movement for hiring champs while I could have done it with whatever unit...!
In my current game I witnessed a champ being hired by the AI without a sov or champ anywhere near it. The only unit of the faction that hired the champ at the time was a bunch of scouts. And YES, I checked that there wasn't any champ or sov stacked with da scouts...! Is that by design or simply a bug?
So obviously that old issue that the AI builds on unallowed squares still stands. In my current game one of the AI empires built a city right on top of a fire shard.
Nice touch, Brad. What about XP gaining for Govenor champs while staying indoors?
if the dark wizard resists the counterspell...
and from my exp they always do. feedback on the other hand works all the time for me. but impulsive mages or archers are a great idea. never thought of that...
So, let me get this straight: You realized that FE didn't exactly turn out the way you and the gamer community wanted it to be due to too many design flaws like random traits when levelling up (no hard feelings ;-) ), and you also realized that just by patching it you wouldn't get it into a more desirable state, so now you're releasing a more or less completely overhauled version, spice it up with some new monsters, spells n graphics and call it expansion. You know what? I
Assassins definitely need some kind of stunning attack (x% chance of stunning opponent) and crippling strike (x% chance of significant reduced attack and/or initiative for opponent). As for Gambler's Strike: Dunno if it's just me. But so far it seems like my chars who use this trait only actually hit 10% of the times they try.
Rather than having to work down three doors,...
Hehehe... Three Doors Down ... :D
Yup, can confirm that too.
Who said I'd pay for a NAP?! *grin* Usually I end up being the more powerful, so others have to pay ME for a NAP. At work I sometimes get a free nap, too btw. ;D
