It shouldn't be too tough, in the early going, that a small peasant force couldn't hold off. The idea is to give you a reason to at least make some sort of minimal effort to defend your early settlements. After all, protection is one of the primary motivators for people to congregate and form towns and settlements.
Yep, a pack of wolves feeding on your farm's animals or some low level bandits snatching your gold reserves or goblins who abduct townsfolk should be suffi

Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future. [e digicons];P[/e] Personally I wouldn't mind if its september. August has enough warm nights to spend otherwise than playing computergames.
... it was pretty risky to lose a city from wandering beasts
That is one of the things I really liked in MoM, btw. Just as much as I liked raiding pirates in Galciv. @Madmelodie: Yes, I do remember how playing MoM was since I finished my last game about a month ago. You're absolutely right. It was very slow (sometimes even awfully slow) at the beginning. But once produced, troops came fully equiped. You didn't need to research and/

Well. like I said I don't consider the game to be bad because it's not as simplistic as former games of this genre. Or because it might not suit my needs. Or that my needs come before those of many. ;) Just that I'm a little afraid that it's gonna be too long winded for me to really enjoy playing it. However, if things are as ddd888 depicted my concerns might be void after all. That was the exact reason for my post. So people post their experience and other insights to dissolv

I haven't been here for a while. But now that I'm back I can't fight the feeling that what started out to be to a certain degree a spritual successor to MoM turns out to be monolithic successor to Civ. I mean: There are so many more aspects to Elemental like a very detailed research tree, long development phases for army and building enhancements/improvements, Dynasty building and intermarrying that I'm kind of afraid that it will take awfully long until the real fun begins. Honestly, I've not read all of what's been posted here, so forgive me if something similar was already suggested. Marksman: You take it as an imperative to pass on your exceptional skills as a Marksman to the chosen leader of your ranged attack troups (bolt- and/or arrow slingers) who in return teaches the troops. This provides those troops with a remarkable to-hit bonus and additional damage done. Even raised critical or crippling hit probability. Those bonus

NamaWHAT?! Sorry, couldn't resist. People watching LOST will know where this comes from. [e digicons][/e] But on-topic: As much as I can't wait for the official release, I would never download pre-release Versions and beta-test them. First-off I don't have the time and secondly I did that with another game, and it pretty much ruined the overall experience of the game when it was finally released. But that's just me. So don't

Well, in this case I, as one of the people who honestly thought having read Brad state such a thing, apologize for the confusion I might have caused. I'm glad to read this. I actually also thought about what extra space and cost that would cause, which made me doubt the whole thing, Istar. I was going to buy the game anyway, though. [e digicons][/e]

Okay, first of all something that noone has mentioned so far (unless I overread it): IT really mattered WHERE you decided to put a new settlement. Why? Making use of ressources around it. The Surveyor was your friend in the process of deciding as well through telling you about available food, max. pop, prod bonus and gold bonus. Not only the sheer variety of units but also their special abilities. Try hitting a Drake with magicians, priests or such and you'll fa

Well, first off: Everyone is entitled to hisser own opinion. And secondly I bet Brad didn't publish it to get only replies stating how absolutely beautiful and epic it is, but maybe also to harvest constructive criticism. On the other hand he didn't ask for opinions explicitely. So maybe he simply wanted to give us a glimpse at what it will look likw, no matter WHAT we think about it... [e digicons]:P[/e]

Hehe, the guy with the pitchfork is Sam Winchester. Can't make out though whether the guy beside him is Dean or not... As for the aging issue: Well, in usual fantasy wielders of magic and such have always had a longer lifespan...

Hehe, as a former D&D player I'd say:"Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder." :D But since ideas are out for a Sword of Truth Mod why not let her have Confessor powers too. :) Seriously though, I was more thinking in terms of... I don't know... leadership bonuses or morale bonuses or research bonuses for death magic if he's a real badass or such.

I'm wondering if any offspring with special powers would emerge from this breeding programs. Can you say "Kwisatz Haderach"? ;) Seriously though, I'm really very curious in what regards the breeding thingy will result other than appearance...

Tsk, the game isn't even really out yet, and already people have started developing ideas for mods for it. *shakeshead* ;) Can't wait for the game to be available already...
