I like the vein in which Tasunke is thinking there. Anything along those lines that gives a champion a particular skillset and title goes much better for RP and story. The pool of traits that UmbralAngel suggested and the heirloom feature that Heavenfall mentioned would go hand in hand, but I don't like the idea of randomisation of them for the champions, as then you do end up looking at your heroes as containers rather than characters. At the moment,

There are some improvements to look forward to from what I've read of the plans, but I think that champions should be famous (i.e. have a reputation) and have a unique appearance. It adds to the world immersion when characters have a background. Maybe they should all be on customised mounts so that they stand out more? There is much that could be done, and done quite cheaply too I would venture.
I write to you today about the leeches that we refer to as 'imbued champions', and about the general state of hire-able recruits. The perspective being taken here is the 'spiritual successor to MoM (Master of Magic)' view that has been so verily driven into the ground. Do you remember Warrax the Chaos Warrior? Torin the Chosen? Mystic X the Unknown? Indeed, how could you possibly forget. Each of the champions in MoM had a distinct flavour. They s
[quote who="Cruxador" reply="6" id="3118101"]Don't do this. This is a gamey limitation that worsens the overall experience. Snaking is a shitty mechanic, but so is being arbitrarily limited to a certain size. It makes no sense logically that a city could only expand so much, and from a gameplay perspective it tackles the symptoms rather than the problems. Snaking is symptomatic of city design being irrelevant with regards to the city's contents, but not with regards to the worldmap. &
MoO3 was the first of the series I played, and I came in with no preconceptions or nostalgic expectations. I actually enjoyed it, and it lead me to look for other similar games. That got me onto GalCiv and Sins. I wouldn't mind an MoO4, even if it went in a completely new direction.
I would give you karma, but I don't even know you. I've never met you, and I have no idea if you can even read. Do you even exist? Where am I? What year is this? Why I am thirsty? My socks are different. There isn't any water in my toilet, and the lights only work for 5 seconds at 15 second intervals. Sandwiches.
Banned for pointing at the stars.
The last one to post first after their last post they posted first will have posted last, last for the first time to be last.
I would give you karma but the Buddha is currently out of stock due to the wholesalers being on strike.
[quote who="Frogboy" reply="97" id="3107108"]Quoting Gammit10, reply 94 Because I am such a visual person, I would most prefer to see the faction differentiation. To alter the cities or surrounding land for each faction would be awesome. While the kingdom versus empire land and building differences are already a start, I would ideally like to see some differentiation in the city's buildings. You're going to get bo
For some inspiration on faction differentiation, I suggest everyone on the design team be made to play 'Battle Realms'. There were three factions in that game that were so distinct, it made you feel like you were playing three different games. Granted, they had only three to deal with, and so they had time to put more effort into each, but it wouldn't hurt to take a few pages from their book. The most distinguishing part of any race or faction will be the te

Banned for not banning me before I could ban you. [EDIT] Self-ban for being too late to ban the post prior to the previous before another banned it in the previous. (Also banned for being convoluted).
I would give you karma, but it would be at some future point, as I don't have any right now. However, my future self could forward (or backward) some karma to this present me, and I could send you some now. But that could create a time paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe!... Granted, that's the worst-case scenario. The destruction however might be limite

This is indeed an interesting development. Almost certainly something that could get us labeled as trolls, and possibly banned. I like it! I think however that Glowing_Ember's idea will have to be put on hold. The Wii is becoming obsolete, so we should wait first until they release the Nintendo Poo.

Well, how did Gary Coleman handle this situation? Btw, Child-Like Empress wants it bad! A name that is. Did you see the conviction and desperation in her tone, expression, and body language when she was pleading with Bastion? The way the scene was cutting back and forth between them makes you look at it quite differently when you watch it as an adult. But boy did she make him say her name. The next contest will be to choose a name for the Child-like Empress. Or, Design a faction. Customise an existing faction to make it play and look unique. Design a parallel plane. Design a tech. Define a new victory condition. Spell Mississipi. Submit a new monster. Apply for a job as personal abused assistant to Brad and Derek. Point out every particular difference between MoM & E:WoM.<

Once you know how to code in one language, learning another is like walking in different shoes. A couple of hours stumbling around and then you get your legs. A couple of days and it becomes your new automatic mode, to the degree that you'd have to spend a little time re-wiring yourself when you go back to coding in your preferred language. I think primary priorities should be performance, ease of integration, and development costs, as all of the languages seemingly on the table have
Not even half as many entries this contest. Does this mean that people are more interested in spells than they are quests? I would guess so (at least I am anyway). Still, I hope they select something outside the box to go into the game. It's still fun to watch these things play out anyway. Good luck everyone!
This is yet another game that rewards you for having the fastest system with the best gaming keyboard and twitch reflexes. Plus the MMO side of it is so annoying. I said 'SPACE' to this one guy, and he replied by SPACING. Can you believe the nerve? I'm so spaced out right now. I think I need to put some space between me and this game. There's just no space for it in my life......... space.
