Sorry if I am incredibly stupid, but can you help an idiot out? What if there are 3 factions left in the game, faction A and B are allied with one another but not with me, and I make an alliance with A & B on the same turn. Then we are all allied, and I am allied with all of them. Wouldn't all three of us fulfill the Diplomacy victory condition? Or can only the human player win a Diplomacy victory? If not, aren't there many situations in which everybody would simul

Bizarre. It is as if that review were written by at least two completely different people who failed to communicate with one another. The introduction is exceptionally well written, and then in the review area itself, the second paragraph reads as if my 11-year-old had written it:
Fallen Enchantress is a turn based strategy game very similar to Civilization . While its similar, its brings many more aspects of play to the table. The combat m

Yes, PoE and FE are very, very different. You'll see in my original post that I was loathe to compare PoE to FE, and I'm not going to do so. In my last post, which you quote, I am trying not to compare the two, but I am saying that PoE is in "better shape", and by that I do not mean that one is more fun, engrossing, pretty, deep, or "better", but I simply mean that PoE has fewer bugs, plays smoother, and feels more "complete" as a well-thought-out product or, perhaps,

Ok guys thanks for the messages. I gave away my two keys already, I'm afraid you'll have to donate $10 to get in before January 23rd, or simply wait, it's only 6 weeks. Yes, it really is still in beta, and it is in much, much better shape than Elemental is now.

I am surprised no one here has made a thread singing the praises of this indy game which is still currently in Closed Beta. This ARPG has been in development for just about six years, and is still in closed beta, going to go open beta on the 23rd of January. I have been in on the closed beta since September, and I have to say that this game is just freaking incredible, for a number of reasons. It really IS the spiritual successor to Diablo 2. It takes some getting used to, since the dev

Fallen Enchantress weighs in more than 20 points more than its predecessor, which had 53. That's a great start. 76 is still "in the green" and is a nice, balanced score. Most of the reviews were fair and decent, and point to the incredible progress the undertaking has made, as well as its potential. Well done!
Quoting Spitz, reply 99I'd like to agree with the above posters that, although I like Stardock and I like FE, a map pack is not the sort of DLC I'd buy. Think more along the lines of new scenarios or campaigns. New monsters, new spells, new sovereigns, new races would also be great. Map packs don't require as many resources to create. You can use its sales to judge the general interest in DLC.
&
quoting post The Map Pack We will be releasing our first-ever DLC for a Stardock game. It’ll be an interesting experiment to see what the demand is. Paul Boyer and I have designed a series of hand crafted maps that will be going up for sale in a week or two for $4.99. If sales of this are strong, we’ll look at doing additional DLC packs. A game like Fallen Enchantress lends itself to content ce
There's already a thread regarding the RPS review. I agree with the review's points. However, I don't like my strategy games to be "tight" and "lean". I enjoyed Warlock but if you're ccomparing Warlock to FE as if they're the same type of game then I think one is missing the point. GalCiv II is even "Baggier" than FE. And while the Elemental games will continue to evolve, they're not likely to become les

Anybody read any? I have seen a few out there. Odd that RPS's review is not mentioned in the news (while of course it's not odd that the poorer review scores are not mentioned). I'm not dissapointed in 1.0 release, but I do think the following review's summary is spot on. I wish the game had more focus, less similarity to CivIV, and more spirit (and much less of the insipid flavor text that feels like it was written by a robot).
<

Reply to UI Issues in FE Support

Would the first three points be difficult or resource intensive to implement?

Unlike the first launch two years ago, it's been more than a day without news of a patch! Wow! That's good. I haven't had any really serious issues so far, but I would be really keen on seeing news about the first patch soon (mind you: I AM keen on the patch, but I mean I don't want the patch right away, just news about it). This week? Next week?

The UI, like everything else about FE, is so much better than WoM - yet right from the start there are obvious calls for improvement, such as: - all screens should be closeable with ESC (or a key we can bind ourselves) instead of us having to use our mouse to click on a "done" button - some of those "done" buttons seem to be missing (e.g. for closing the researchselection - step 2 of the tutorial) - some screens cry out for their own hot key but seem not

Hmn it seems I can't find a place to get what I want in NYC, especially because with tax here (no one includes Tax in the price like they did in Germany!) it pushes the price up even beyond 1500. :-(

Thank you, people! I will check on Asus and Sager too, and look at Wal-Mart. Currently, I live in Brooklyn, NY, USA, so finding a place shouldn't be that hard. Does one walk into a physical store or do everything online here? Is there like a store you could recommend to see something and talk with a human? Or do I just look for "Asus laptop sale" online?` Thank you! PS. 2of3, the Inspiron 17R lists "Intel graphics card" in the spex, so it's not a dedicate

Thanks for those replies. Torchlight 2, apparently due out very soon, doesn't seem to whet my whistle, from what I can see of it from its website. But Path of Exile looks very interesting (to me). I have no idea how good the itemization will be, but looks like it is worth a shot...

Thank you for that fast response. How can you see if a screen is full HD? I thought today, and at that size, all have that kind of resolution. So you think Dell makes ok machines? The link you sent includes no graphics card? What is SSD? thank you

Just in case I am unable to rescue my laptop from whatever is plagueing it, and it needs to be scrapped, I would require a simple bit of advice in getting a replacement. Currently, I have a 3-year old Sony Vaio 17" laptop running Win7 Home Premium, with 6GB of memory, an ATI Radeon Mobility 4650 (dont know how much memory it has, maybe 500MB?), and a Core Duo P8700 chip at 2.53 GhZ. Until it started dying last week, I have been very happy with it; I was able to play anything I wanted on it (I

I do not have a Windows 7 disk (it was preinstalled and no disk), and resetting only lets me choose a day 4 days old. It's not enough. Also, Windows attempts to re-install updates immediately -- that doesnt make things better either. I've tried most combinations (restore, /scannow, virus scan) and nothing seems to help. Something must be permanently damaged, whatever that is, or maybe it is a hardware error. I think I will have to give up.... :-( THank you for your well-me
