I've heard something about a memory leak creaking back in, but is the sluggishness due to the monsters moving in their own phase, or a memory leak? FE has been really fast and zippy for me until the .99 patches. It's not super slow now, but it feels that way in comparison to the previous betas. That said, the crash issues I was having, they seem to be fixed.

,991 fixes the issue in .990
I looked at the .991 changelog. It's possible that could fix my problem- as they appeared to be lockup-style crashes. The patch problems I had were on the newer laptop and not the older one. Will try again over the next few days. I play on two different laptops (one high end, one now mid end) and one uses NVIDIA, one AMD, so I get a variety of looks. I did notice the game chugged a bit more than previous bu
There's a reason to choose robes for mages/assassins, though I think robes should give dodge or we should get some more powerful robes.
Quoting Alstein, reply 82If you look at standard economic theories, the net result would be that the US would go down to the global mean, maybe slightly above, but it would be a drastic reduction in our living standards- Only in the very short term. In the long term it would mean a higher standard of living. Not RELATIVE quality of life, but absolute. The gap wouldn't be as big between an american and an african but
Hopefully this fixes my issues- I think you're really close, and it seems like the bugs are caused by something specific, so I think you might be able to get it in time. The deadlock condition might be the fix, my crashes seem to be deadlocks.
Personally, I'd like to see this bug kept to allow for items that cover multiple item slots, but I think it's a bug.
Simply put- I'm crashing too much for the game to be ready. I'd say I average around 1 crash per hour of play- the crashes seem fixable, might all be the same crash, I"m not entirely sure, but it has to be crash-free for the game to be ready. I'm enjoying the changes otherwise, it's the stability that's an issue. Fix that and the game is ready. I'm not sure what constitutes acceptable, but I'd say in 2.5 hrs of otherwise enj
I think the solution is to make more buildings that require a high city level. Not too hard to build but provide real benefits. Also, make wonders require a lvl 3 city to build period, and require them to have a certain building type- some for conclaves, some for fortresses, some for towns. I'd also like to see more wonders, and maybe a limit of 1 wonder for a lvl 3 city, 2 for a lvl 4, and unlimited for lvl 5. I think these change
I'm having the issue of it telling me I need the latest patch, then when I get the patch it tells me Ihave the patch. I have the game on two comps, so far I only see the problem onone, haven't tested the other.
My idea was to make certain skills work with certain weapons, and only after certain promotions, and different for paths. Got some ideas from a MUD I used to play.
Doing this could cause problems- it did for me at the start of beta 5, I had to system restore.
It doesn't. I think it should- but upgrading a shard should cost much more than making a new one. (that's an indirect nerf to Ceresa, so make upgraded shard elementals even stronger- lvl 3 shard elementals should be more powerful than Juggernauts)
Only in a local scale. In global terms you are reducing wealth inequality via outsourcing. Those nations it is outsourced to are the poorest in the world and their poor are much poorer than our poor. And via outsourcing we finance their industrialization. Eventually they become industrialized and it no longer makes sense to outsource to them. That is true in the global sense. But I think Alst
I'm taking Brad's assumption that we are in a global race to the bottom, and there's nothing the market can do about it. Governments can redistribute wealth. Flat out , handouts and redistribution is what is needed to compensate for this race to the bottom. You may be philosophically opposed to this, I'm not really super in favor of this, but I'm thinking it might be necessary given the alternatives. We are heading to a society whe
Curious on these things: While I know promotions can have prerequisites, can they have multiple prerequisites? Also, can skills be created to work only with a specific type of weapon (say axes only?)
I have to agree that Civ IV BTS is the gold standard for TBS games to this day. It's really hard to follow a "genrebreaker" game, and I've seen this with many of my all-time favorities- you eventualy run out of iterations- you can't make Super Civ IV Turbo HD Remix. Civ V- I'll just say I wonder how many things were forced on the developers by the publisher. As for FE- I think it has potential to approach that gold stan
Fortresses are worth building on high essence. Enchanted Hammer/Obsessions/Heart of Fire/Aura of Grace are all nice boosts that stack with essence. A good Fortress to me is high production/2+ essence. Towns are for low material Conclaves are high food/1+ essence.
Either the AI needs to learn how to use the spells, or it should be removed and replaced with something the AI can use. Preferably the former- the AI needs to learn when it is sealed off at a minimum so Curgen's Volcano isn't an auto gamewinner.
The gulf between the rich and the poor is only going to get larger and larger with more automation and globalization. I'm not sure how that can be helped.
I do agree if conditions end up laissez-faire crony capitalism, that is precisely what will happen. We have a battle right now between large corporations and large governments to see who will dominate the 21st century. That'
A Slayers-style magic mod would be an interesting variant (White/Shamanistic/Black magic)
Adepts was good before the change that allowed shard harvesting to be built without the tech. I'd like to see a bigger change here, I'd like to see it be hella expensive to upgrade shards (moreso then building the shard) , but upgrading a shard gives you +1 element power in addition to the +1 mana. My suggested buff: constuct and upgrade shards at half cost Warrior Caste: Training Yards, Barracks, and Command P
Does held back mean it will be included in the sandbox later if appropiate?
I just hope GalCiv3 isn't mandatory Steamworks. I expect to be disappointed. Steam's ok, I just don't like having all my eggs in one basket, for various reasons (hacking, abuse of corporate power being the big ones) Right now, if Steam did something abusive, like forcing folks to pay a monthly fee to use the service, I could just write off my library. If I had everything on Steam it would be painful. </p
Quoting Frogboy, reply 1I think the next public update will address most of what he's talking about. It remains to be seen regarding tactical battles. I would oppose seeing tactical battles be made more complex but on the other hand, more balancing of tactical spells and items can have a massive plus to the tactical experience. If i understood one of Dereks post correctly neither the player nor the AI use spells in tac
