I'd say the reverse. You want the clunky comps as those are the ones that will give you the most problems in getting the thing running. Personally, my worry with this is the hint of a delay. That said, it will be ready when it's ready (even if that's ripped from Swedish Stardock) so I'm not too worried- if there's a delay- it just means more time to figure out how I want to upgrade to a new laptop. I'd try to make a ridiculous AI and c

I agree with both of you, I'd prefer turns, but it's not that important.
Those things should be rare, and not in every game. Just because you want Bear Cavalry- you'll need to have a sufficient source of bears, people to ride them, and a way to get the bears under control. Also, at some point all our feature requests will add up to excess feature bloat.
One of my concerns. Some units will be overpowered in TC but not regular combat- leading to a difference in play between TC and QC games strategically. AOW really suffered from this- units like Nymphs and Druids were a lot stronger in TC.
People didn't want to switch to Vista due to the bloat?
I'm waiting as is. Won't wait past this year. The specs I want only cost about $1000 now, so it's reasonable. It does have to be a laptop , since we use our own laptops for work (for our own personal timekilling use)
Thanks. Would you recommend on a laptop purchase that I go ahead and get stuck with Vista, or wait for Windows 7, if it's for Elemental? I understand if this is a question you're obligated or feel that it is prudent not to answer- I have a good feeling this is the case. A lot would depend on Windows 7 release date- if I think it's 2010, then I'd get something sooner rather then later. I've read late 2009 though, which should be in the middle of your beta. </p
Stardock has a planned MMO, but not for 3-4 years I think.
It's probably WAY too early to do a Vista vs 7 comparison, since 7 isn't out yet. Does anyone at Stardock have any heads-up they can give about how well or not Elemental will work with 7? Since I'm in the market for a new comp around the launch of this game, 7 should be out by then. I figure you guys have seen it in action a bit so might know how it's working for games.
I can say for a fact that Stardock does listen, and a few gripes of mine were implemented in GCII on small details. You guys will be getting your money's worth in terms of effort and care. Trust me on that.
Prediction right now: Tactical Water Combat will be in the expansion.
Isn't this what the metaverse will be for? I know I wish to do an Army of priestess of various sorts...
I see one design thing that's going to give you trouble down the road. People are going to be clamoring for tactical naval battles.
Aow II is totally obsoleted by SM. AoW I has the most charm though.
Sounds like Kohan with the vector and surplus/shortfall. Will you be able to buy the things you're short of with your gold like Kohan? This is something i would not want to see overcomplicating things to be honest, but it can be a reall good addition.
I'm hoping you can dress up and switch the gender of your armies.
Honestly, I don't care what the game is called, or whether it's inspired by MoM. I just want EWOM to be good. (I have enough confidence in that to pre-order 9+ months before beta) I sometimes wonder if this is due to me not having played MOM- but that name doesn't mean much to me. The only real old-school fantasy game I ever got to play was Fantasy General. Seriously, this could be Stardock's "breakout" title- I'm hoping
Ok, how about making sure units aren't useless in one mode or the other. In AoW, some units were a lot stronger in regular combat then tactical, and vice versa. That's my big concern about TC as of now.
I'd like to see a command points system and possibly a regiments system similar to Kohan (but more detailed since game is turn-based) to help prevent infinite unit sprawl,
It would annoy me as a weather person to have "random" blizzards.
