I mean this when I say this- I do appreciate the work you're doing, and I know you'll get it right. Hopefully this doesn't get lost in the string of encouragement and your time away, which is needed. However, I am still concerned that others are just going to write Stardock off after this launch- which is why I think down the road you need a re-release, like an Elemental: Enhanced Edition - maybe once Book 2 is out. You'll get re-reviewed, which will help do

No, it's not perfect yet (what is?), but it is most definitely "ready to play"... We have a difference of opinion then. Which is fine, people often have differences of opinion. What is more relevant is what large numbers of people think and it se
+1 for a true random map generator as well.
The perception of fact in this case is as bad as being fact. It's not fair, but it is what it is. With Stardock's ability to improve things over time, a re-release or stand-alone XP would gain that goodwill back.
Stardock can't and shouldn't do early deep discounts. a) there are retail agreements that say Stardock can't lower the price for x number of days (Stardock has to do this or no retali space) If the retailers discount, they can. b) discounting shouldn't happen until the game has enough polish, otherwise people will call it a fire sale/act of desperation. Get it right, then try to get people back. When people will be wowed, that's
One idea. Sovereign dies still should equal end of sovereign. However, instead of fading away, if the sovereign has a adult 1st in line, they should be able to continue as the sovereign. If there are multiple children, they can either turn barbarian, turn minor civ, or become heroes. This should be a weighted random roll, with worse results the stronger the kingdom/empire is.
Let's not get into specific gameplay features please. This is about how on the business/commercial end this game, when ready, will get a fair chance to shine. There are plenty of threads for that, here it will just get lost. It's not even so much about Stardock changing. Stardock in terms of how it supports games, doesn't need to change. What needs to change is people's perceptions, and that will take real value being offered. That is the c

Just needs tuning - unplayable is a major exaggeration.
See my above reply, it's not what you or I think, it's what the general buying public for this type of game thinks. Standalone expansion isn't that unusual. The discounting is mostly to keep those who pre-ordered Elemental ha

However, the perception is out there now, and that's what has to be fought. It's going
This is not going to be pretty, and maybe not that profitable in the short-term. I am going to sound harsh, but I do want this to succeed, as I see the potential. This is not intended as a slam on you guys- I hopee you know what I post here well enough, that you know this isn't just me begging or slagging. Right now: the perception of this game is that it's unplayable, and that buying a Stardock game isn't worth it until at least a year out. That's not good for
I'd vote for these mods to be added into Impulse. Maybe as a collective pack?
One complaint AI-related from nother forum. AI dies in enemy territoy instant game over. You conquer city next to AI, AI soverseign does a suicide attack.
FFH2 has horrible AI. Other then that, it's great.
There's a tech to increase the limit.
These complaints are legitimate, but can be fixed with balance patches. Give it time (and probably a good bit of time to be honest), but they'll get it right in the end, I'm sure.
Question: anything about making the AI value teaming techs more, or are you going to adjust teams down the road? Just curious.
When I clicked on it, it sure as well wasn't a Stardock game they were playing, unless Stardock has a game where animated eight-year olds in maid outfits are beating each other up. ^_^
It's a justin.tv type site with a mildly NSFW image that shows vids of dojin games (basically Japanese indie PC games that are often based on fanservice-heavy anime)
http://mee.bo/bryBGP NSFW- apparently this channel shows loli dojin fighting games.
The solution to magic would be stronger mid/late game spells. Maybe from spell books to force a tech tradeoff. This game is going to be a royal pain to balance out though. balance to me is the 2nd priority behind performance, but I think seperate people will be working on each, so both can be done at once.
Yeah, I don't think crunchtime work is as productive as regular work. Take a day or two to recharge, and hopefully things can change bit by bit. while the AI's important, other stuff is more important right now. It's gotta be a bad feeling on your part when you spend all night working on your baby, then you wake up and it's getting savaged. While some of the criticism is legit, you were getting butchered.
One other thing- there needs to be a TOUGH difficulty level that has no AI bonuses or penalties. Right now normal has gimped AI, and challenging has *2 starting gold.
Glad to see you responded. Hopefully this doesn't snowball out of control, I was worried when I saw that this morning, and knowing you were asleep after working all night. One suggestion: in future, should something like this happen, someone on your team should wake you up... ^_^
Paradox games also take years, and in EUIII's case, 2 expansions to get to a good state. People need to remember how hard games like this are to do right.
Instead PC gamer quotes Brad as saying "we think it's finished and if you don't like it, don't buy our games." Yeah, that's the one Basically, there were around 4 pages of back and forth between Brad and a few others ('Ben' is the only name I remember) talking about the stae ot the game. MANY complaints, about everything from non-intuitive UI, design choices, and technical issues. this turned into "the game was not ready f
