Is there any way to keep these people? Sorry if that sounds Pollyana-ish. Didn't the game nearly break even just from pre-orders? I know if you lost coders- another person I know who is similar personalitywise to you is trying to make a PC/Mac fighting game and is looking for coders (He has done a couple projects for XBLA for Capcom), so I'm trying to direct over to him, I think he has some budget- it might help.

Actually getting fired for cause can cause unemployment to be delayed or taken away, at least in North Carolina. As for the comments earlier about the game being unviable- I think they're projecting that the bad reviews/drama is going to lead people to avoid the game in future, which means unsold retail copies and fewer after-purchase downloads. So it's missing revenue later more then missing revenue now. This is also why I don't think the s

For the record (since I saw some rather disgusting comments on the Shack thread) the financial projections for Elemental occurred while I was out of town along with the projected budget revisions. Upon determining our initial course of action, I ended my vacation early -- as my journal makes clear. It
Brad's candor has a way of bringing you in to the family, so to speak. At least I feel that way. It hopefully will be so different an approach that buyers coming here with a game problem will quickly see that this is not your run of the mill gaming factory, operated by attorneys and marketing weenies. Brad takes it on the chin and hides little of gaming relevance from the public, as far as I can see. That alone has earned
A 4.0 is harsh. 5.0 or 6.0 maybe, but not 4.0.
Please everyone realize that in the long run this means that Brad is paying several hundreds of thousands of dollars in an attempt to fix something that he damaged. This is because from an economical point of view, it would be more profitable to don Elemental and quickly move on. To make Elemental 2 within 2 years and try to forget this situation as soon as possible. Who of all you would willingly pay such a sum (or more) to fix you
I feel this is the weakest area of EWOM right now, so this is what I'm going to suggest a fix for first. I think each thing in the same needs a full set of stats: STR/INT/ESS/DEX/CON/CHA STR- damage, reduces armor class penalty from armor. INT- spell casting power ESS- mana pool, magic resistance in some cases DEX- to-hit, some benefit to armor class. CON- hp, which should be con*racial modifier. For humans it would be .5 so a
Played for about a half hour. I was pretty much just going to judge on the performance, as Brad's mea culpa postings have made me think gameplay is gonna get revamped heavily. In terms of performance, you guys fixed a lot of what was wrong. You still got those issues mentioned, and other things may pop up, but the game feels a hell of a lot better in terms of working. You did a good job on this in getting Elemental into a position where the gamep

And by complete list, I mean exhaustive detail. If you revise the combat mechanics, post the complete revised system so those of us who care to, can examine how and if it works. ^ THIS I hope that before they start
While I think given the world it should be removed from the game, the estate shouldn't be 1 square away from an neutral's influence- all too often it gets blocked off that way.

I'd like to stay away from the battle concepts of HOMM or E:WoM Launch as much as possible. Hopefully the tactical battles of E:WoM launch and E:WoM "Upgraded" are COMPLETELY different genres of Tac Battles.
I have to agree here. I've got some ideas
I think, for starters, the first expansion pack for Elemental - Book 2, will have to be given away for free to the people who already bought the game. In my mind, that's a START. So, anyone who sticks with is going to get at least one free expansion pack out of it. And it won't be some piddly "look, it's a new campaign". Think Dark Avatar level expansion.
I'd much

When officialy release something, and it gets a 50% dissatisfaction rate on our own forums, that's a HUGE chunk of our customers that feel it wasn't ready to be put out, no matter how we felt about the 'Gold' version. There's a lot to learn from the release of Eleme

Also been faffin around in Soul Calibur IV that i found collecting dust in my shelf, forgot i had it lol. Its awesomely deep once you give it a try. I remember when i first bought it, i sucked and ragequit. Now, y
There are two groups of losers. a) Those who bought the game but didn't pre-order, and this is their first Stardock game. - these people may be turned off by the launch, don't know how well Stardock supports their game, and may end up hating Stardock. These guys are lost sales. - the only way to win these guys back is to hope they don't give up on the game, advertising, and massive support. I expect SD to do all this. b

If this is 100% true then I will be awed, surprised, grateful and positive about the future of our race. Don't get me wrong: this would be normal. But I just have to look at simple things like politics where politicians don't just do what's best, but they tend to do what gives them the most
elemental wasn't finished and will never will be at least according to brad.. so i guess that means we will keep getting patches forever.
GalCiv 1 got a patch in 2009, around 6-7 years after the game came out. That said, the realistic lifecycle of regular patching for a SD game is around 3 years, which is still quite excellentt. You got an infrequent patch or so after that to boot.&n
The game will be better the longer you wait , within reason. It will be worth picking up eventually.
I disagree with the concept that 2 rings/1 ammy is lame. I suggested in IRC that this should be a moddable stat, even if it's not used in the base game. Mods will use it. Maybe even allow it to be racially set. One other suggestion from IRC today- polearms. they were very common. Make them a branch of the warfare tree, generally +def -combat speed + attack. Warhammers should get moved to polearms also.

I'm also interested in knowing the answer to this.
I believe Stardock keeps some of the money in that case. ($10) Not 100% sure. I'd recommend hanging on, as Stardock will make this game great enough that you'll want to go back to it.
That 1UP review talks about the robust multiplayer in the game. It's laughably obvious the reviewer hardly played the game. The way I look at it- if you delayed 6 months, the game in Feburary would not be as good, as the game will be since it was rushed out. Look how many things were fixed the week around launch. If the game was still in beta, it would have been slower going. Since I pre-ordered, it doesn't hurt me any.
Star Ruler is good? May pick that up on sale eventually- Din's Curse is current indy game of choice though. When I say soon, I mean 2013 or so for GC3. pre-Impulse, people just played the borked games, not knowing any better. We expect more now because we get more due to the increased competition that DD sites are providing. Calling Stardock an indie is like calling Butler/Gonzaga indies. They got eno
While I agree with a lot of what the OP says, unfortunately I can already tell you Brad won't agree with any of it. According to him the community Always says a game ISN'T ready, and Stardock always says a game IS ready. In Elemental's case Stardock got kinda screwed over with the release windows available to them. They didn't launch early because they needed the money. They released early because they had other deals in the works and pushing
