Since I made a Tile mod, I've noticed that, it seems like the tiles are stored in the save game. I don't understand why this would be. For instance, if I start up a game, save it, quit the game, load new tiles into the Data\English\Core Tiles folder, restart the program, then reload my save game, the new tiles are not used. That suggests that they're stored in the save game. I can understand why gameplay-affecting changes would be stored in the save game, but I don't think changes to the tiles would affect anything outside of appearance.
The save game files are pretty big as it is (mine are 3-4 MB). Compressed, the Core Tiles are over 800 KB. That's a rather sizeable chunk. Now, that's not going to make much difference to my hard drive, but it seems like Steam only synchs my save games after I quit the program, and it can take a few minutes. By not saving the tiles into the save games, that would reduce the size of the save games, making synching take less time. It also means that tile mods would affect existing games when applied.
I understand there might be a good reason that the tiles are stored in the save games, but I don't know what it is. If there is a good reason, then ignore my request. If there isn't, could you maybe change the save games so they don't store the tiles? It seems like a waste. It might also speed up the save process (it's a noticeable pause).
