I have been at war with Oracle Ceresa in a game recently. She has come charging at a smaller army of mine I used to conquer one of her outposts, so I figured I would see how powerful she was before deciding to fight or run. I found out the AI has gone to town using a spell like familiar or Destiny's gift(?) that costs a sovereign max HP. As a result she only has 4 HP now. She only has 2 settlements too. So, her faction is severely handicapped for the remainder of the game.
I noticed the AI do this in the beta too btw. Although, it was never quite this bad (I think the worst example in beta I saw was something like low teens for an AI sov late game). I assumed it was probably already pointed out by another tester, so I never made an effort to post about. This is the finished product though, so now is definitely the time to voice my opinion on this. Sorry about not pointing this out earlier.
This seems like a design issue with the AI needing to only use these sorts of HP draining abilities once or twice a game. In fact I'd say if it's not possible to thread that needle very easily, just disable these abilities for the AI completely.
I couldn't figure out how to embed the SS I took, so I just attached a link to this post. It shows Ceresa maxed out with a mere 4 HP at level 6. Not much of an intimidating sight to behold. If any additional info is needed, let me know and I'll try to get it posted.
