I believe random events are coming if not already here (don't really recall any), so I thought I would brainstorm on some I would like to see in.
a multitude of random/semi-random events could really add to the mid/late game-
perhaps have a .01 percent chance per turn that a powerful tribe has gathered from an adjacent continent and has 'migrated' this way= a horde comes in from the 'North'(random), where all tiles along the 'northern' border of the continent have a 25% chance of gaining a stack of the horde that's bent on obtaining cities/destroying all other resistance (this would help lvl the playing field for those that start off in a corner of the map (I loved the thought of this in Bandit Kings of Anceint China, only the coming of the barbarians meant game over without the chance to fend them off, by the time they came one was really powerfull & ready to fight a new challenge)
I would love to have quests that would/could bring a Titan back into existence, continuing his/her campaign of the world with an army of demons, perhaps a chain quest where your searching for a lost ancient city, 33% chance you awaken the Titan & his minions, 33% chance you obtain a lvl 5 city with a special building, 34% chance the quests were a hoax
lvl 4-5 spells could have a small chance per cast to cause a 'rip' in the prime material plane allowing a Titan and his/her army to return at a random location, would this not increase the difficulty of the clean-up aspect of late game? not to mention mid-game troubles this could bring
Some % chance of an earthquake-lose 1-3 random buildings/Crafters tradition-target city gains 1 material
Locusts-lose 1 grain in target city/Farmers Tradition-target city gains 1 grain
% chance of a hero coming to your aid
% chance of a demon attempting to enlist your support in resurrecting their Titan= you can refuse & the demon either leaves and goes to the next faction or you can accept= 75% chance Titan will attack any one faction of your choice, but then is released to do there own bidding, 25% chance Titan ignores previous agreement & attacks you first - heh, think of an ai opponent making a deal with a demon, you could have a Titan coming at ya when ya thought the war was won
