[Bug] Spell of Mastery - incorrect missing shard

Just won a game using the spell of mastery. But just before I could cast it, IA broke one of my shards (fire). In the spellbook, it was mistakenly marked as if I was missing an air shard.

How much mana does the Spell of Mastery cost to cast? And is it cast in a single turn?

25-ish turns I think? Pretty sure it breaks NAPs/alliances as well.

I had it bug out completely, I cast it, it completed... nothing happened. Had to cast it twice to win

It is 500 mana to cast, takes 25 turns and you have to have 1 shard of each element (but not life and death shards if I'm correct)

500 Mana sounds pretty darn cheap!

Although the number of turns sounds about right, unless  my mind is playing tricks on me but in a normal game of MOM you'd end up with at least a casting skill of around 200 (dpending on playstyle) and so casting the 5000 mana Spell Of Mastery would take just that, 25 turns.

And it's good that it breaks all the alliances. If anything, all the other factions should ally regardless of alignment and march to your capital/sovereign.

I just won by casting the spell of mastery - it took ages and there is no indication of how far through the caster is. I thought I was stuck with a bug.

 

At the moment there is no suspense. It is not like when you build the rocket in civ and an enemy state is also building. You throw all your resources to complete the task and at same prevent someone else interfering.

 

When you start casting the spell all other leaders should be made aware of it. If they don't want you to win then they have 25 turns to try and stuff up your spell casting.

Definitely.  With the Spell of Mastery, all players should be informed that you have started casting it, and maybe even given the area where it is being cast.  And you should definitely know how many turns are left to complete it.

Storywise, what does the spell of mastery do again?  I understand in gameplay, its a victory condition.  But, in the story of the game, does it make you a god or something?  I probably once knew the answer of this, or it's in that ridiculously named pedia.

When you win, it says that you have blocked the access to mana of all the other channelers, and they have no choice but to submit.  Or somesuch.
