Caravans make food between your cities

THis is one thing I noticed is the fact no one has said what caravans provide, other than a road.

If you click on the little mini caravan  that goes back and forth after making a route and go to vitals you will see caravans only provide a food % boost between your own cities.

Have yet to check if its different if you have it trade between your own city and an AI's city.

It doesn't help that the manual is beyond useless. There is so much information lacking in this game regarding all of the game mechanics.

Yes they do provide a food boost, provided that city already produces food.  What confuses me is that caravans don't provide any other bonus.  In the betas they provided a boost to whatever the city was producing, so that included gold, materials, and metal.  What happened, is it a bug?

I've made a post asking brad if we could add information to the In game Hiergamenon, that way all the info we get from the forums could be cut & paste in one area, you wouldn't even have to leave the game to access it.

It provides a food bonus regardless; you get a bit more out of a city that isn't your own.

I don't think caravans should be able to be attacked or at lease have like a duck & cover value that a unit must meet before they can attack
