LOL, nice work. The Amazon's must be popular because that was one of the first civilizations I made too. I used the Tarth as a base, are you creating an entirely new Amazonian race? I look forward to seeing that! Also, just a note for you, you can include more then one thing in an .xml file. For example, you could include your race, the leader, and any special items in one single .xml file for distribution if you want. Makes things a little more simpler for the user.
Look forward to seeing how they turn out!
For me Amazons are so staple in the fantasy realm as pegasus, medusa or the minotaur (greek mythology ftw!!!!). With the current trend of having mostly egalitarian fantasy societies (there are exceptions like Forgotten Realm's drow), Amazons may seem a bit out of place but I like them.
I have made clone files for faction, sovereign, units... using Tarth as base (haven't changed description texts... that would be last). The idea would have them as faction (like we have Altar or Pariden) and race (like we have Men or Amarians). Fully functional. About file usage, for now I prefer to have different files for each thing but not sure what I will do in the future about it. For release and commodity of the user (installing and/or deleting it), I'd stick to use just one file though.
One of my first ideas too, but I like the look of yours so I might be all set.
I am waiting a few play throughs before I use any mods though, I need to "review" the game for my site.
The game could surely use different approaches to the same type of faction. specially in the tech tree, which is the spirit of the faction (along with faction abilities, I suppose).
