I think what PC is saying (and correct me if im wrong) is that when he makes a custom race, and sets the name of his homeworld, that he want's that wo be the name of the planet that he starts on. RIght now, the code is setting the name of the star as whatever he's entered for his 'Homeworld' name. Ideally we'd also put in a space for players to put in the name of their HomeSTAR as well, but that's further down the list of priorities ATM <img src="http://images.stardock.com/

Yeah, looks like there's a but when pressing the "Save" button when making a new Race, but if you just press 'Done' the game will run fine. We'll have this fixed for the next beta release. Glad to hear the game is finally starting up for you

OK, thanks for the report Astax (and sorry it caused a CTD in the game). We'll hopefully get both issues resolved. For the CTD when going back into the game, could you please post your system specs for us to see? Perhaps they would hold the answer to the alt-tab bug?

Make as many of those puppies as you want...we won't be limiting the number of a each social improvement you can put on a planet (besides wonders, trade goods, and capitals). Since the new limiting factor is space you can now build whatever is best for your empire!

That's another issue we'll be tweaking and hopefully have almost-perfect for Beta4, but i do suggest looking at your spending...at the beginning of the game you may jsut be putting alot of time into military and not giving the necessary love to research.

Can you send the debug file to myself ( [email protected] ) and we'll see if we can dig up any solutions. In the meentime, if you have a fast connection, you may want to do a fresh re-install. Not a pretty solution, but sometimes that all it takes

Peter: I've logged the first two issues to be addressed, but could you further explain the third one? Was this at the beginning of the game, or after researching and unlocking a new type of research lab?

For now, when creating a custom race, don't save them...just press the 'Done' button. This will let you play as your customized race, but wont crash. We'll have a fix for this in the upcoming days

I just got in (About 8:00am our time), and there's still a bit of tweaking to do yet, so you probably won't see the beta until around 5:00 our time We'll keep you posted, though!

This is the design I've been using for my small fighters reciently. It's just the ring structure with a wing structure atached to the inside, placed around a tiny hull in an 'X' formation, but I think it's pretty cool. A few more days and you guys will be able to show off your creations too <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 A

Concerning Textures, we're working on getting 3 out of the final 5 styles of ship completed and into Beta 3, textures and all. We also got some cool specular lighting into the rendering system, so ships in general look 100x better IMO. Can't wait to see what you guys have to say about the improvements!

Not much time to chat, but jsut wanted to update everyone on what's up on my side of the GC2 universe. We've been handed a short but intense crunch period as we get a preview build ready for our freinds in the press. This will most likely be the final write up done of the game before reviews start popping up, so we have to get some key components in to kick-

1.) Sounds like a good idea. I'll add it to our growing list of ideas for the new Metaverse 2.) IIRC the scores in GC2 only got zeroed when the game went gold, so any scored submitted while overwhelming game imbalances were present in the beta (and beleive me, imbalanced beta's will happen again). I think we may be able to counter this by forcing the players to only sumbit ga

Hehe We actually use stick figures to show size ratio's when working on new ideas. Case in point... So yeah, sometimes it's necessary to use a nice stick figure here and there to get a simple point across. Here we're showing (or trying to, at least) how small a human is compared to this Starbase. The human is holding an apple that's inside a giant walkway on
