Didn’t want to comment until things solidified over on Steam. Here’s the store page, and we’ll be figuring out a way to get you all keys once Beta 1 is released! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1772260/The_Video_Game_Machine/

Yes, actually! I have a build cleaned up and ready to release on Steam as 'Beta 1'. I'm working with Derek and the crew to finalize an agreement that hands the project from Stardock to myself, and once that's wrapped up I can press the button to get that build out! I don't know what the process to get you all Steam keys, but that will be the distribution platform going forward. If you jump on the Discord channel, I have some marketing assets up to check out (including th

Hey Anarkys! Not sure about getting the founders badge, but Alpha 2 is still cooking (ie. not released yet). Having some issues with getting the authentication working on new installs, but we're still plugging away. VGM is, personally, very important to me, so I appreciate your interest in it :) Will keep you posted! -Scott Tykoski

No update - my full-time focus is GalCiv4, and we've been heads down on the v0.45 build ( https://forums.galciv4.com/505887/galactic-civilizations-iv-045) . My final task for VGM-Alpha 2 is to fix an installation issue on new machines. I'll ping you guys when I know more!

Unfortunatly no - we have next week off, and I dont feel comfortable releasing it now then being out of the office for 7 days. However, this does give me a BIT more time to squeeze in some low-risk goodies, so the final build will have some features I was saving for Alpha 3! I'll jump in here when I know the offical release date, but it's looking like sometime in the second full week of July [e digicons]B)[/e] Side note: Scary temps over on the west coa

Alpha 2 is SO CLOSE to being ready...the only remaining issues are... Fixing some Tachyon DLL issues (something broke over the last 2 years when making the EXE and I'm digging into how to fix it) Make and Test the Installer RELEASE! The good news is that I've been able to use the extra time to knock out some additional bugs, so Alpha 2 will be even more stable than expected. Anyways, working with our DLL guy today on the problem -

For anyone interested, here's my task list for wrapping up Alpha 2 and getting it out the door. The build was in a state with lots half-implemented features that needed to either be disabled or wrapped up, but I'm slowly turning those Red tasks Green :)

VGM was in slow burn mode BEFORE this covid stuff hit, so the last year has been pretty devistating to my little project. I've put time into it where I could find it, but working remote meant most of my effort had go into our core projects. I feel like a post mortem on the nature of remote work would be interesting at this point. Any extra time you get from 'not having to drive' is completely overshadowed by loneliness and a lack of that hard-to-quantify 'creative energy' that come

Hey HiddenAuror! The big thing we wanted to add across the updates for TPM2020 were the Candidate and Ideology Workshop support, giving modders an easy way to easilly share their creations. We're really happy with how this turned out: In the candidate workshop alone there are over 400 candidates to pick from! As for deeper modding, the XML should be pretty easy to tinker around with in the game's Data directory. Is there anything in particular you wanted to do? Perhaps I

Hey Guys! Good news - the Alpha 2 build of VGM is heading over to QA this week :) Big new features include... + New Genre: Runner + Auto-Level Generation: When you start a game, it will use template levels to build a basic game for you (if you want). + New Sample Game: Age of the Mage Rage + New Rule: World Map (build an overworld map for your games) + New Gizmos: Set Music, Counter, Endless Enemies And then a bunch of other smaller features, bu

Greetings fellow Armchair Politicians! Well...isn't this the craziest election year we've ever seen? I've been on every single version of TPM, and between Coronavirus, Protests, Economic uncertainty, and Biden's "turtle" strategy, I've never seen an election cycle like this! <span

No, it's just taking a while to get back to it. We jumped over to The Political Machine, which is still taking up most of my attention. In my (limited) freetime I've been getting a new build ready to go, but it's been a slow process. We'll update the forums when there's something more significant to report than "it's not dead" ;)
When should we expect a new build? I'm anxious to jump back in!
Sorry for the lack in info. VGM is 100% still in the works, but we took a break as we wrapped up some other projects and are waiting to get a dedicated Producer on the game. Basically I was wearing too many hats, and it was obvious that the game needs a proper manager helping to set priorities and guide the schedule. We'll let you know whe

Hey Kallussed! Sorry for the delay, but I did just verify with Derek that the current plan is to release Beta 1 on Steam by the end of the Summer, then hand out keys anyone that purchased the Alpha. I look forward to an update pipeline that isn't us handing out new installers for players ;) Anyways, I'll keep you all posted as plans solidify. Thanks!

A Quick Update - We have code in that cuts the file size of our games by 1/4th (A 1m game dropped down to 250kb). Can you find your game's XML file (located in Documents/My Games/The Video Game Machine/Generated Games) and let us know what the file size is? I want to make sure your epic-sized adventure will still fit under the 20mb upload limit :) Thanks!
