My crashing issues stopped when I disabled auto save. Don't know if that helps troubleshooting or not.
Sure does...I've passed that clue onto the team. Thanks for the clue!
you sure about this? can you link an official thought on it?
There will be a patch tomorrow - and read the SD badge, baby...official enough for you? [e digicons]:andrew:[/e]
Thanks Xan...we'e working eagerly on the Day0 path still, so any good vibes we encounter are appreciated (as well as constructive feedback)!
I wish arrows keys could be used to pan the camera
Shift+arrow keys to pan, Ctrl+arrow keys to rotate :) Just implemented last Wedensday, so appologies for lack of formal documentation on that one.
Hey Das, glad you enjoyed your hour 50 :) And thanks for the feedback....we're compiling a monster todo list, so all critiques and ideas (and crash logs, if you have them) are welcome.
In Elemental, zoomed in, I don't know what I'm looking at. Are those trees? Is that a rock or a pouch I can get goodies from?
This was a major gripe from Q/A and was fixed for Gold :) Quests and goodie huts are now very distinguishable on the main map (without looking too gamey...they actually add to the feel of the game, I think).
Has anybody else noticed themselves enjoying the graphics/artwork of this game more and more over time?
Yeah, a few tweaks that we've gotten in this last month have pushed me into the realm of 'pride' in the visual style. Somethign different is always a risk, but luckilly it paid off (IMHO).
Two. Dark Avatar and then Twilight of the Arnor. Both so game changing that make the idea of playing vanilla Gal Civ II unthinkable (for those of us who liked them).
IMHO, you could almost have counted the v2.0 build as a free expansion. If I remember correctly, there was a pretty nice list of features in that one...I remember being really proud of what we had crammed into it :) Hopefully Elemental will have many such updates as well. :)
I would bask in this great thread longer but I have campaign tweaks to make :) Thanks for the support and kind words, guys! Very much appreciated!
Boogie, how time-consuming is it to produce one of those?
That one, from start to finish, was around 25 work hours on my end (8 hrs one day, 17 the next) and whatever hours Mason put in (our music/sfx guru). The original idea was a timeline of turns, starting at turn one and building up as the key turning points were spelled out, but it wasn't to be in the time allowed ;) Anyways, I'm going to try and squeeze more time in for a super-awesome trailer once the
Yeah, I would have loved to give that trailer more...well...love. :( But every hour that we put into that sort of thing is currently coming straight off the game's development (we're not big enough to have a full time video guy doing these sorts of things) so I'd rather save the kick-assery for post Gold and have a better game for you guys on the 24th :) So, while on the subject, what would be your DREAM Elemental trailer?
I've got the Pirated Gold Version right now, had it since last year.
I can only imagine the unplayable craptitude of such a build ;) Even 6months ago seems like ages in game-disign time.
Got these in for both goodie huts and quests, different glows based on spawn levels (you should see these in the new screenshots being posted). Next build you get will be much easier to read from the 3d map.
ANNATAR!!! Here's you friggin proof.. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6311359/Mobile%20Photo%20Aug%205%2C%202010%204%2027%2033%20PM.jpg ..I'm holding the LE edition. I'm swimming in your jealousy [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]*_*[/e]
Pic or it didn't happen?
Where's the trust gone, Anny?! :( Oh, and yeah, still lots of UI stuff to come!!!
Just got to hold the final version of the boxes....the LE box is NUTS (5-6 inches WIDE...we could have put in a elemental coffee mug or something), and even the regular box is pretty damn slick. Very exciting! :D
A quick hint with placing land tiles: hold SHIFT and click to have it ignore the autogeneration of cliff tiles. Cliff automation needs to be the default, cause otherwise it's a huge pain to place them, but there are several times where just placing 1 simple land tile is necessary.
The black screen is a data-loading issue. If all your data is loaded, it'll start instantly...we need a better buffer there so poeple dont think the game has hung.
I played some Mario Galaxy 2 :) Up to 106 stars!!! Woohoo!!!
The last two weeks have definaly been a blur ;) Yesterday we all took a break, now we're back in to push out Beta 4, then it's back to resting for a bit. I want to say the dev team averaged around 180-200 hours in the last two weeks, so nobody can say we were slacking! Lots of that what wrapping up specifics for the Gold master (cutscenes, campaign, etc), but you'll be seeing alot of that work in Beta 4! We'll keep ya posted!
I'm going to bask in these positive energies a bit to try and get a second wind :) Thanks guys!
Gah...that makes 100% no sense :( We're on it!
I kinda don't want them working this late.
Too bad, we're still here ;)
We have time put aside once the game is gold...'till then, a trailer would just use up valuable 'make game good' time ;)
Also, can you post the system specs listed at the top of your Debug.err file? (my games/elemental) Thanks!
