Is Elemental: War of Magic a Spiritual Heir to the Master of Magic lineage? Definitely not. No matter if you think it's a good game or not, it's definitely a very different one than MoM. Both are fantasy TBS games with Civilization-like elements, but this is where the similarities end. All the features that make MoM great - races, special units, sophisticated spells, heroes with their special abilities, item creation, merchants and mercenaries, nodes and r

Great suggestions that can make the game more complete than it is now [e digicons]:)[/e] [e digicons]k1[/e]
For me the only serious issue with AoWSM is the AI, so it's better to play it as a multiplayer game, or using special maps that make the AI stronger than human players by giving it more units/cities/etc. from start and/or during the game using events.
The Hydra looks nice, but I'd prefer a version with 7 heads and without wings.
Is it intentional that the Azracs have no special abilities? (I'm one of the AoWers unimpressed with Elemental)
[e digicons]k1[/e] for Nick-Danger It's not only a question of bugs. The release versions of many games are bugged, but I have a feeling that Elemental is not feature complete. I think many features should be added and changed to make this game really enjoyable.
The city spam is what I really don't like in this kind of games. I even made some Civ4 "modmods" to reduce it and force the player to found cities gradually and leave some wilderness areas in the early stages of the game (Civ4 fixes this issue economically using the city upkeep costs, but it wasn't enough for me and I created some extra restrictions). Not only the minimum distance should be increased, but also there should be some extra costs related to having a large number of c
Quoting silverpaladin, reply 93I agree with all of the posts here. My favorites of those listed are: Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - This is TBS perfection Well, not perfection, but definitely the most perfect that has ever been achieved in this kind of games. I think that was has been said about MoM also applies to Heroes III. It's a pitty that after 11 years it still has not been superated by any other game
The official site states that they will be available "for digital distribution services". I know from a well-informed source that it will be on Steam, but I have no idea if it will be on other services too.
Don't forget about Fantasy Wars, which was made before Elven Legacy and is very similar.
I reinstalled AOW:SM and been killing time with that while waiting for the slowdown fix for Elemental. Shame you can't find it for sale anywhere though. I heard they're going the 'steam' route sometime soon. They've also been working on a new patch for years now but it doesn't look like it'll see the light of day.
Yes, all 3 AoW games will be available on Steam soon. We're working on the 1.5 unofficial &nb
Isn't it a little too late for such general decisions?
AFAIK we can't use Python yet, and XML is not a type of language where you can do such things.

I still think a hotseat mode is needed. I'd like to play with someone who is in my home and we have only one computer that can run Elemental. I suppose such situations happen quite often, and I think of hotseat as a "basic" mode that should be implemented in every TBS game that has multiplayer. Btw I don't understand why it causes differences in "combat resolution". The only thing that should need some work is diplomacy, "switching which faction the player is controlling on the fly" s
I want a fantasy themed mod, as the normal game doesn't have much of fantasy in it [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
Can you use a different color for the questions? The blue that you use is too dark for me to read comfortably.
I don't think the graphics is "top notch", but I guess it's a matter of personal preferences.
Can someone explain to me what does the general difficulty setting (when you create a new game) do? Every AI player has its own difficulty setting, and they are all Normal by default regardless of the general setting, so I wonder what's the purpose of having both general and AI player specific settings.
At the start of the game (1.01), I went to design a new unit. There are two weapons available, a club that gives 2 attack, and a staff that gives 3. When I design a new unit, it has the same attack as the weapon - 2 with club, 3 with staff. But when I upgrade the basic Peasant design, it has 1 more (3 with club, 4 with staff), the extra point is explained as "base attack". Is it a bug that when you design a new unit there is no "base attack" or I'm missing something? Also when upgradi

I think it's easier to make a faction editor as an external utility, there is one already made: https://forums.elementalgame.com/390184 Looks like an item editor is also needed: https://forums.elementalgame.com/391345
I don't have the game, but someone complained that there are no big maps, so maybe adding bigger map sizes is a good idea for this mod.
