I agree, there should be a screen like in GalCiv2 where I can view my trade routes.
I agree completely [e digicons]k1[/e]
I'm one of the active AoWSM PBEM players, and I support the OP. (Btw there is a PBEM tourney just starting at the AoWSM forums.) The PBEM community is one of the things that keep the game alive after so many years.
Seriously considering MoM actually. Maybe Master of Orion or Sid Meier's Colonization, I'm in a "wtf why can't gamedevs even give us simple clones of old classics without the infuriating UI and compatibility issues" kind of mood right now. Heck at this point I'd be happy with even some identical clones (-the UI and maybe with better graphics) with good mod-ability and an active community.
There is a "modern" clone of
This has been discussed many times before. For an unknown reason the devs seem to be very reluctant to this proposal [e digicons]:([/e]
I think you should rather make a "let's not play and wait for (at least) patch 1.1". With the current bugs (like shards not working) it doesn't make much sense to play it now.
It would be nice if someone posts a guide how to set it to an optimal value depending on your system specs.
I don't think it should be an exact copy of a system from another game, but generally there should be more 'depth' in the magic system than it is now, and using good ideas from other games (as well as some original ideas) is a good way to do it.
I don't like the graphics - the world feels empty, the units look like "random guys" (or gals), not like powerful warriors. The part that I like most are the cities. It's good that at least the "stylized lighting" can be turned off - it hurts my eyes. Edit: Anyone else noticed that the city HUD is kind of blurry?
Tbh remove teleport completely. It kills strategic aspect of the game. Let us foresee enemy moves and counter them with armies placed beforehand at proper points. We wanna play with geography of our magical worlds.
Well said [e digicons]k1[/e]
@ Eiralin : You're right, there are many good ideas in the AoW series too that can be used to enhance Elemental. I generally think that "borrowing" good ideas from other games is good, in this case it would be MoM, AoW, HoMM, FFH etc.

This is the single biggest detractor from playing a true civ-like sandbox game! I'd pay $10 extra just for that single feature! Edit: I would even volunteer to do the programming, if someone would provide me with the sources...
It does found cities if it has Pioneers, the problem is t

This is a quote from the Frogboy's latest dev journal: Magic System Changes. This is an area that’s going to get a lot of changes. For instance, Essence will become a boolean (true or false). Your mana will come from a global pool of mana that is from the shards. The elemental spell books (earth, air, fire, water) will get moved out of character creation and into the tech tree so that players can determine what spell books they want. Var
SOLUTION - Elemental Dev Team go play Age of Wonders 2 and Age of Wonders : Shadow Magic. Learn what it is to have a dynamic and exciting magic system, one that actually has buffs/debuffs that matter and more varierty (overland spells / tactical spells / summons / buffs / strategic).
I'm a fan of the AoW series too, but I think the spells in MoM are even more interesting, so they are a better source of inspiration for the Elemental dev team
Just for discussion's sake what do you think AoW has to gain from Elemental's visuals/gameplay?
I think AoWSM has better graphics than Elemental, unless you think that "these days everything must be in 3d" (and it would be hard to use the Elemental engine to recreate it because it uses hexes instead of squares).
I'd give it a 5.
Copying good things is nothing wrong, in this case I'd prefer a game that is less innovative, and resembles MoM rather than GalCiv2 [e digicons]:)[/e]
It's much better after this patch, I no longer have CTD when alt-tabbing [e digicons]:)[/e]

It is important because if it turns out to be a failure, probably nobody will make this kind of games for years. The only promising game in this genre that and I can see on the horizon is the mysterious standalone FFH .
