@Haldur: If it's the same problem that I had, you might need to use an old version of the graphics driver, more info here: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=11129 Edit: I just noticed an the end of that thread that the newest drivers should work.
Once Victoria 2 gets their next patch I'll go back to that.
Me too, Elemental is not the only game that has problems with release version.
The devs are aware of this problem (why didn't they think about it earlier?), and hopefully it will be fixed in the next patch.
I think it should have been delayed until February, the "fanboys" who preordered it would get new beta versions to test, so SD would still get lots of useful feedback. Using the OP's logic, it should have been released when the first alpha build was ready, so the purchasers can test it for Stardock. It's better to conduct beta-tests when the game is not ready, and release it when it's ready, and not use the release version as another stage of beta-testing, as in this case. Early
Fun fact: The pirated Skidrow version is based on the Digital Download of the game, thus it does require a cracked executable because the DD does do a one-time auth. If they had waited to pirate the retail disk, all they would've needed to do is make a disk image and upload it. No crack required.
I think it has something to do with the delays in sending the boxed version to those who ordered it, the download version is just more
Yeah, I meant the people that post here, not the technical aspects of the forum.
Currently I play AoWSM (play by email), and Europa Universalis 3: Heir to the Throne (single player). Waiting eagerly for Civ5.
It's true that Civ5 doesn't have tactical battles, but I think the combat will be much more interesting than in the previous Civ games because of the 1 unit per hex rule - no more stacks of doom, and the terrain will be more important in warfare. I think the entire map will work as something like one big tactical combat. I love AoWSM, but sometimes it's good to play other games to "extend your horizons". Seems we're getting offtopic here, sorry for hijacking the thread [e di

I am really looking forward to this game!
It's not just that, it has the city and civilization management features that are absent in FW & EL. AFAIK it's the first game that combines Civilization elements with Panzer General-like combat.
Thanks for the karma [e digicons]:)[/e] There's one thing that I forgot to write in the OP: I'm positively surprised by the number of threads with suggestions how to improve the game, some of them are very elaborate, detailed and look professional. If the devs implement at least 10% of these suggestions, the game will be really great [e digicons][/e]

I'm one of the persons that aren't impressed by the current state of Elemental, but I like this forum so much [e digicons]:)[/e] I've never had so many interesting discussions on various subjects in such a short time. I spend a lot of time here, and would like to thank all posters for making it such an inspiring place. I think the number of posts shows that there is need for a good game in the fantasy TBS genre, because there are not many of them lately. And Elemental doesn't

If it's really a good fantasy story, it shouldn't be hidden political propaganda. Of course it
Fantasy races (Humans, Elves, Orcs etc.) are not the same as the real world races, so it doesn't make sense to see racism in fantasy stories.

I like the summary in the OutOfEight review: What say you? Part turn-based strategy, part city management, part role-playing game, partly finished, occasionally fun: 5/8 I think it describes the current state of Elemental well.
I find it strange that all the standard sovereigns have all the elemental books. They should cost more points, and you should be forced to pick 1 or 2 instead of getting them all. This would add some diversity to the game, something that it needs desperately.
