While I am not a game developer I think it just takes a quick look around to see everyone at least in the younger generations (ie. the new gaming customer) is connected all of the time these days. I find it hard to believe that the gaming customer who truly "doesn't have internet on their main gaming rig" isn't becoming such a rarity that one could assume the loss of those potential customers in sales pretty much inconsequential.
<

Hilarious how persistent a myth can be, even when the contrary is already stated in the same thread.
You both right and wrong. It take about 30 minutes here until Steam "understands" it can't find internet and only t
Steam is a good system. However there is one thing that kills all the "fun" from it - you have to be online to play. Couple of time I had internet outages and especially in the time I wanted to find something besides internet to do I couldn't play. The "Go offline" option in this case it not good enough since you have to go offline in advance! Other then this Steam is a great thing , even given the fact that you can't transfer or sale games but this "on
Minus bugs, not workings spells etc the game is PERFECT! I again felt like playing original MoM while it's completely different game.
Just wanted to say that this time you hit the spot. Last time I fetl this way playing the game was when I played original Master of Magic. The original "Elemental" was "OK" but no more than that. This game ... it's just fun to play. The balance is right I think (played normal). Noticed one thing - the smaller the landsize - the easier to play, this need to be balansed a bit since on normal "tiny" size is too easy, "small" is pretty well balanced and bigger
The game crashes at same places as original "elemental" : After loading save games. Actually this part is really strange - if you load savegame after restart - everything ok, but if you load it during playing - it causes problems on the first load and if you try to load same save 2nd time - crashes. Somehow if you load autosaves it crashes less then "custom" savegames.
1. Intended, it affects some spells like spell blast. 3. Ya now they effect gold. I'm not sure about the limit. 2.Intentional, it is a quick fix that will be changed to a more permanent solution down the road. People complained because that you could kill entire armies before they even got a turn.
Thanks. 1. For 1) it would be really nice to know what spells it affects, for example in spe
Is it OK that sovereign does not limited by minimum intelligence requirements of the spells? Is it a bug or was intended this way? If it's intentional then what the meaning of intelligence stat for sovereign? Why would anyone spend stat points on it ? In any case the description of that stat is wrong - it does not determine or affect power of the spells, or is it a bug? What with caravans limit? It's not shown anywhere in city screen. Is it lifted? Al
1. The Kraxis AI player keep atacking my city with pioneers. They appear in about same time, 2-3 of them and try to atack my city one by one during same turn. The only thing different about that city is that it was captured from Krax before and have non-working trade route to other Krax city. May be it's related. 2. The minimap window is still buggy, sometimes messages appear under it. So I moved it on the top, a bit left and after several turns it "jumped" up so I coul
For me 1.1 really made a game fun. It feels more "complete" this way. The main downside is "learning curve" - it took some time to understand whats going on if you came from 1.0 era. As for "take forever" - for person like me, who usually plays Civilization on marathon speed and still thinks it too fast :) - it's really really a good thing.
Same problem here - not happy :(
Same problem here. Installing withou beta right now, let's see what happens...
After reading about 1.1 upcoming changes I got disapointed. It's all sounds like GalCiv2 with different units. not that GalCiv2 was bad, but it's not really what we wanted , the 1.x despite many problem it had , had own "spirit" and I liked it. Now it's GalCiv2 again with different sprites.
animations are longer than they look
Not THAT longer, I might accept a second or even two, not 5-15. Also sometimes it happens, sometime - does not. (But "sometimes" I mean in some tactical combats. Also it not always starts from the start of the combat , but once it starts it happens until the end of the combat, and please note that it happens only when/after stryking, not when moving)
Had this too, started in about 1.05 I believe. However in 1.05 it happened only with sovereign , now with all units. First I was thinking I am not clicking careful (exactly) enough on the enemy, but later I noticed that it's enough to wait. It goes like this: You have action points for several strikes, the first one is OK, enemy strikes back (or not) but for (before) 2nd and others you have to wait loooong time. May be the problem is in retaliation (ene
So you saying the game was not rushed? - Maybe, but it was not properly tested either. You had this problem with all GalCiv releases but here it just was more visible. You really should invest in beta testing more and build some automatic testing tools. Crashes aside it's really hard to tell if some building gives bonus or not unless you automate the tests. Another comment for a magic system. Introduce minimum spell damage. It's more then frustrating when spell
Just crashed in battle The dump is here: http://drop.io/xlq5pvj/asset/elemental1-07-2010-09-03t23-02-51-970-zip
Sure: http://drop.io/ovgmd5a966/asset/autosave-zip In this save the situation is just before the bug. The army already on enemy territory, the probelm happened after visiting two enemy improvements that right near (one tile away) the place where my army stationed in this save. So I moved to that tiles, clicked several times in attempt to destroy it, tried to browse actions menu , after several turns going back
I went with my army and my sovereign to enemy territory (we are at war) , on their resource (i believe it was some shard). I wanted to destroy it (they had a building on it) ,but did not know how, anyway, it's unrelated. The problem that after several turns I returned to my territory, my town , entered it and... Got the message that town was conquered by the side who's territory I just visited. But there were no enemy in sight. Somehow my sovereign and his army after a
Now after 1.06 update I say "Elemental is the way to go!", before that I was tend to agree with PC Gamer reviewer.
Thank you, the game is now playable, still a lot of small issues, but nothing critical. 1.06 IS that "gold" version should be from the start.
I would put it differently - my units do not react on the "strike/shoot" click if they have several strikes, the first time goes ok, but for the next one you need to click several times. Happens very often, starting from 1.05 indeed. Not sure it start reacting after some timeout or because I click on different place on target.
One word - DOSBox if you would like to run MoM on W7
http://www.illustrious-software.co.uk/showpage.php?page=clonemain
Hm... at least consider the hero that gives you 1 gildar per turn, other gives 20% food bonus to the city he station in (can be difference between growing city or not) , there are some other advantages. Plus heroes can use equipment.
Make a 64bit version of the game? Technically possible but unrealistic from marketing point of view: Cost a lot, gives nothing (in sales turms). The only ONLY way I see Stardock doing 64bit version is that if game sells so well that they have really huge amount of extra money they did not planed on, users need it for extra huge maps and Brad think it would be a nice idea to play with. Only if all those 3 condition met there is a chance for 64bit version. </
