Nice to know it's a first shot. Thanks BoogieBac.

As it stands, buying and selling equipment/stuff is very very painful. You can't see what you have. If you double click on something, you buy it twice but get zero feedback. The whole screen needs redoing in order to be usable. It's mandatory that one can 1) See what they already have. 2) Be able to cancel if they mis-clicked. Even simple games like this one have bett
But in this post apocalyptic world the mood is oddly cheerful. Adventurous upbeat music is playing. There are cute little inns scattered about the map with happy people in them, with enough gold in their pockets to send you off to do menial tasks like killing rats. This is a generic fantasy setting and not the gloomy post-apocalyptic Mad Max world I envisioned. I'd like to see more refugee camps and makeshift forts and less pretty buildings.
+1. Indeed it's a bit
If you propose a hero and marry him/her, and then he or she dies, you cannot marry anew. This is wrong as it destroys your dynasty. I might even add that spawning bastards would be a worthwhile addition, considering these were common and some were quite important historically (William the Conqueror springs to mind).
Was ordering my sovereign to move onto something (no idea what, maybe an ore or something, it was not clear on the 3d map what it was, and there was no popup or info that explained what the destination tile was). Tech screen appeared. I could move the mouse but couldn't do anything else. Had to kill the process. Can't find a zip once again. There's an impulsereactor log saying this: [06-13-2010 12:38:59 495] ImpulseReactor version 1.10.07 [06-13-2010 12:39:00 436]
Still no debug.err but I got a zip to upload this time. I had first used alt tab to get out and back from elemental. The game crashed with a 'DX something' error panel. I don't think it's a big issue so didn't bother noting what it was. Restarted, loaded game (by the way, wtf generating world? it should be loading, not regenerating since if I've cast spells to change terrain everywhere, regeneration will be rather useless). Hit end turn. Saw 4 events reports. Moving th
Launched beta2. Started game. Zoomed out, then in, then out, then in. Crash, probably when changing from cloth map to 3D. The C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic directory doesn't have any zip file for today, only these: ElementalChat: log file for server irc.stardock.com [Timestamp: 6-13-2010 11:31:48] and a sig.bin with this content (ascii): 32D77F146A59224338C9F43ADEEE118998FB1349047739BF93174372175381111BB37EC87225019879D44DEBD38D9C198500439DBD144CE015
real turn based or tile/turn based system
I'd like you to use a different term for what you mean, like 'successive turns' or IgoYougo. It's just a question of vocabulary, but I find it demeaning to the simultaneous turns system that you say it's not 'real'. Wego is a turn based system too, there's nothing more real in one or the other. The Civ system allows you to play N moves in your turn, resolve each of this move, before the next player's. So instead of 2 phases in e
Heh, I am strongly against the WEGO combat system for vanilla EWoM. [I will try out the WEGO mod of course, just to compare the 2 systems in action.] I am pretty sure that the current system [tile/turn based] is much better for a game like EWoM, but maybe this is just a subjective stuff. I think that the vast majority of the potential "buyers" are expecting to have a turn based combat system in the vanilla game.
I love Dominions and tried a bit of EotFS once, so this project looks interesting to me. I found EotFS hard to get into, though, because there lacked a story/tutorial to get into the world and learning all that's needed. I know Dominions lacks one too, but at least the concept is easy to grasp and some players may know some of the various mythologies and be at east with parts of the world. As for drawing, do you talk about painting-like or drawing smaller things like 2D units?
I'll repeat things many people already said: I'm all for WEGO. Combat Speed. Minor detail imo. Morale. Bonuses and penalties are fine, but I'd like to see berserk units too that you don't control either. Too much morale (berserk) = auto-charge, don't control. Too little (terror) = flee/surrender, don't control. Terrain.Nice if it has some influence. WINNER. TAKE. ALL. Against it. I want to be able to send 4 or 5 horse archers attack an
I like the changes. I'd like the quests and NPCs to be varied, that is, to avoid having one quest repeat itself too often, which seems to happen right now (with only a few quests, it's to be expected). I might even play the tactical battles, although I think that's still room for abusing the ai. Simultaneous turns (giving orders and processing all players orders only once they're all issued) would be great.
The issue is that C:\Users\All Users is a link pointing to nothing, and doesn't exist. Same for C:\Documents and Settings. It's a link that points to nothing. In fact, the links somehow link to S: instead of C:... Go figure how I managed to wreck that? I think making myself instead of Trusted User the owner of the C: drive may not have helped. Anyhow, a little bit of cygwin/ls -l/rm/ln and I've been able to locate the damn file, which is in C:/ProgramData (to which All Userss is
Debug.err Crash when moving the mouse cursor over a something (don't know what it was). Probably a resource, I wanted to see what it was. I can't access the zip corresponding to the crash. Is there any way to tell the program where to log data? Basically, all stuff that goes into 'All Users' is, for some reason, unavailable to me through Windows' Explorer. I'd like to redirect all input and output data if possible. For instance, I don'
I think it would be very good to be able to rename an existing sovereign. Right now if I want to pick a sovereign and change its name, I have to go through the process of creating a new sovereign from scratch, which is long when all I want is just changing the name. So what I did to achieve that was look for the save file, change the names inside the xml, find out that this was useless, and then rename the xml file itself. It's a bit awkward at the moment, even though it works.
What would the user interface for edicts be like? Some edicts are troops-related, others are not. That's probably going to be quite confusing. Otherwise, I don't get your math:
This doesn’t mean the other faction needs to be subordinate, since 150% as strong translates into 25% weaker
. 150% = 3/2 times stronger, so the converse is 2/3 as strong, so 67% which is 33% weaker? Your figures are not clear. Also, what is the figure you're using to determ
The Fall from Heaven mod is a great mod but from what I remember, each faction doesn't have completely different game mechanics.
To develop a little bit, ALL civs play VERY differently: Some dwarves get happiness and production bonuses for hoarding lots of gold. The other dwarves build units that... don't get experience (sorry for you, Empires, idea already done ;) ). That is unless ONE unique unit (Barnaxus) earns experience. Plus they have a building
rofl, so the argument here is that you have to spend 2 extra seconds to right click / close steam?
Roll on the floor as much as you like, it IS an inconvenience. I mean it takes 2 seconds to put the CD in the drive too. You can even leave it there, and people still dislike it. De gustatis non disputandum. I don't like it, and many people don't like it. Just accept it.
Also, your second point is a major reason WHY steam is good.

So, if the game simply required 6-21mb more memory usage to run and required you to register online one time merely to access the game to prevent piracy you wouldn't get it whatsoever? The only reason you have an issue is it outsources to a 3rd party program which does the job much better?
It's a bit different. When I exit Civ, does Steam close automatically too, or do I have to close it manually? Twice as long to close the game. Also, there are quite a few people who
My issue with Civ V requiring Steamworks is that they actually are already offering exclusive content on Steam, namely the Deluxe edition. So if I want it, I have to buy it from Valve and not from someone else. I most certainly won't, because the price of civ V Deluxe seems overblown when I look at the additional content that's not in Civ V not deluxe. A sensible distribution of the deluxe edition wouldn't be 10% added cost for 1 civ (18 base) + 1 map + some fluff sound or video I don't even
Sorry, I don't remember if I moved manually or the move was automatically triggerred by a former order, or it was a hero moving alongside my unit. As the game crashed, I couldn't see exactly what happened. Here's the end of the debug.err, with a nice error line: Debug Message: - Ending Turn 61 - Debug Message: Current Memory Usage: 770531 KB Debug Message: Cities in World: 8 Debug Message: Units in World: 54 Debug Message: Dest
This is where I'll chime in and just say that I absolutely hate the way you've divided it up into "Kingdoms" and "Empires", instead of more iconic, individual, descriptive names, regardless if they belong to the western or eastern bloc and their race(s). There. I said it.
+1. I think you'd better concentrate on the lore. The game right now (beta) doesn't show anything about it, and there's just
You should really get the Equipment tab out of the appearance tab. it does not belong there because swords cost points and have a gameplay effect, and people who don't want to customize their appearance but have a sword won't find them. You might also want to add more polygons on the heads of your characters. Right now, they are too low-poly to be likeable.
Cities should produce citizens of the race that inhabits them. But if there are many races and you must design your own units, then you have to design one more unit per race you conquered. Which means more work and micromanagement, as you have to design units yourself. So it would probably be best to reduce the number of races to a minimum.
Whatever as long as you give the factions cooler names.
