If you propose a hero and marry him/her, and then he or she dies, you cannot marry anew. This is wrong as it destroys your dynasty.

I might even add that spawning bastards would be a worthwhile addition, considering these were common and some were quite important historically (William the Conqueror springs to mind).

This is working as designed. You have to make a tough choice, do you take your spouse out adventuring knowing that they could be killed, or do you leave them in a garrisoned city to try and protect them?
