[quote who="Azunai_" reply="212" id="3354868"]it's not like i don't like armies. in fact, one of the reasons why i'm against removing the XP split is to keep the balance of heroes and armies. at the moment, a combination of both is desirable. make heroes too strong and armies are obsolete. apparently you liked Fallen Enchantress. i liked it, too. but i found the heroes blatantly overpowered. you could clear the whole map without even building your first city. that's not a good

I've now had several instances whereon casting the Thunderstrike spell, the damage is dealt, but my hero does not teleport to the target square. Haven't been able to pin down any special circumstance when it happens, but thought it worth mentioning.

After a lot of testing, this is the setup I've found that works best for maximising the level of your sovereign and a couple of heroes. As it's Altar, you also have the amazing Henchmen,, who can easily be the equal of most heroes, and make excellent Commanders, opening up more XP traits. And as mentioned above, if you're lucky enough to find the XP boosting items as loot, bonus. Custom Faction: Altar, Master Scouts, Lucky, Quick, Enchanters, Rebels or No Ranged Weap

Yea Elena, I also keep my eyes peeled for a 3 essence spot, and will definitely shift my troopbuilding there, depending on the location, if I haven't already built the Great Mill and War College in my first fortress. I play a custom faction, with Enchanters for Scrying Pools, so training troops with 4 enchantments is a distinct possibility. If I find a 3 essence spot close to my starting location, I usually make it my Conclave. Don't think I have ever

Pretty much what Azunai said. My typical initial strategy is to make my first city a fortress, it will be my primary source of troops, and will also build many of the wonders. I then as quickly as possible, map and RNG willing, try to settle at least 4 more locations, with one of those becoming a conclave, the rest cities. I may settle a couple more city spots if they are close to my initial kingdom. All the while I'll be building garrison troops, as well as adding to my sov

Just checked this in my current game, and my redesigned Explorers, Peasants, still have the Weakness trait, and while stil male, are very different in appearance to the Explorer. So, you can alter their appearance, as long as you don't randomise their appearance first, as Azunai noted. Blind luck that I didn't randomise their look before attempting the build, else I'd have thought it was unusable in a new design. Also tried designing a female

As I tend to play cloth map, I hadn't seen this as an issue until this post. Definitely breaks immersion.

I have redesigned the Explorer unit speciifcally to use the Weak trait for creating cheap fodder, it's working fine as far as I can tell.

This is an issue I hope the developers are looking at. I've also had to turn off cloud syncing to delete custom factions, sovs and unts, and even then, having to sort through files to accomplish this is quite a hassle. I very much like the idea of customisation, it's one of my favorite elements of the game, but the feature can't be WAD, and if it is, the design seems faulty. Stardock, we need an effective, simple interface to delete any and a

I think at least magic items should be seperated from non magic items, and robes should be grouped seperately from armor.

[quote who="random_thoughts_7" reply="9" id="3353359"]For example there could be a horse-lord faction that gets +1 horses/turn. Great idea for a faction or sovereign trait; add Warg Lord to that, or combine them to give a bonus to both resources.

I think horse and warg resources are spread around the map much better than previous. I'm finding I have to prioritise claiming them as opposed to .85 and earlier, when I took it for granted I'd have enough. The spawn rate seems about right, cavalry are occupying a much smaller percentage of my army, and filling my sovereigns army out with all mounted troops feels like an accomplishment. Trading extra wargs to get the last few from my next enemy makes it even sweeter.

The thing is, all of these can be done very easily with modding. The game is balanced in the eyes of the developers. An odd occurrence concerning custom troops. In a previous game(,85) I created a custom faction, and several unit designs. One of those designs was a Medium Spearmen, with the chain proficiency and a couple of other traits, in chainmail and armed with the 2nd rank spear. Started a new game yesterday with .87, with the same custom faction, and the Medium Spearmen unit shows as buildable at the beginning of the game, same traits,

Also Call of the Titans. have posted about this before. Hope that the devs plan to fix this, as it's quite annoying. Forces me to keep large garrisons in former wildland cities due to being unable to rapidly respond.
