With buildings, the new, total value is listed. If it's 4 -> 4, you do not gain anything more of that resoure type. Unfortunately, with champion traits it's the opposite: Evoker I gives 20% spell damage, Evoker II another 20%, for a total of 40%. This inconsistency still needs a fix. Someday.

I don't think there are enough low level items in the game to make them all unique. You need to get a duplicate every once in a while. Like I said earlier, it would be nice if completely useless items, like the stone mace, are less common than more useful ones, like accessories.
CWG and Davrovana: Mantle of Oceans is indeed awesome. In my current game, I already have 2 Air Elementals, ignoring armor, so I don't have to use Curse. Graveseal seems very powerful, if I only knew how critical damage was calculated...the couple of times I tried it, half the time the critical damage was still within normal range :(
Yeah, this can happen a lot: you own the map, but you're more or less friendly with 1 or more stragglers. Since it's a single player game, it is completely up to you to finish the spell or quest, exterminate or befriend the others, or simply start a new game. It's a free world!
I believe this has been reported before...after I killed a dragon in a quest, it only netted me 26 xp. 18 without bonuses. That seems awfully low. It only had 400 hit points though, so I guess the whole encounter is a leftover from a previous version? http://screencast.com/t/GCr3ORu93Js Edit: I am trying to upload a screenshot, but so far no luck. If someone can tell me how to post a pic i
1) I never use Heart of Fire. It's costly, and I would rather use an economical city buff. 3 Unit-buff spells cast on a Fortress can be powerful, but you could have also made those cities into Conclaves, gaining 8 mana/turn and even more research from that essence. It's a good spell, not OP, imo. Btw, you can only have 4 essence on a Fortess if you have the Enchanters trait. 2) Road building is powerful, no doubt. Apparently, Capitar can give any unit roadbuilding. That is
He usually 2-3 hits ashwake and chambercoil dragons. The key is to know what you can tackle at each step of the build-up, and get xp fast.
The dragon's breath will still kill you though, unless you have 100% fire resistance.
In my current game, I acquired Alexan the Beetle at level 3. Even though he was level 3, he did not have any traits, besides his class (mage). Shouldn't he have one other trait?
Thanks for checking this for us, Derek. Yeah, I really started to dislike the Shattered Statue. Good to know that one does give specific items. Means I am not completely crazy.
To be honest, I hardly ever use them. They both cost quite a lot if I want to initiate them. So I never do. If the AI offers them to me, I will always accept, as it doesn't cost me anything.
Quoting Fallenchar, reply 2 Attack and defense work like this: A = A * A/A+D. This is your max attack damage. Minimum is half of this. Isn't that the same as A = A + D? So in other words the more defense your enemy has, the more damage you deal.. that can't be right.
You are right, I forgot the (), like Halmal wrote. But hey, I am typng this
Excellent. All the balance changes are improvements. Lots of AI changes, looking good.
I believe Initiative is a mystery to everyone. You can never have enough, that's for sure. Attack and defense work like this: A = A * A/A+D. This is your max attack damage. Minimum is half of this. Let's say you have 10 attack and opponent has 1 defense: max damage = 10 * 10/10+1 -> 100/11 ~ 9. Your attack will do 5-9 damage. If the opponent has 10 defense, you'll do 3-5 damage, with 30 def, you'll do 1-3 damage. Defense has diminishing returns, but

All the above tips are useful, but I am not sure it's what the OP is after. Let me be the first one to admit it: if I play on a high level and I start on a 7 resource tile, I usually ctrl-N. There are so many other factors influencing your early game - resources, monster lairs, quests and goodie hut items, first hero - that I allow myself to cheat a little with the very first step. Pat on the back for the OP for resisting the urge to Ctrl-N.
Yes, Resoln has 3 traits that are less useful if you play Kingdom: Cult, Binding and Death Worship. I guess they are truly evil [e digicons]}:)[/e]
Generally, food isn't worth much. Personally, I have only reached one level 4 city once... If you manage to spread quickly, those first few cities can reach lvl 3 or 4 and benefit from having at least 3 food. After that (let's say from your 5th city on, but that greatly depends on map and playstyle), 2 food is more than adequate. Even 1 might suffice, if it has 5/6 prdocution. Strangely enough, the game does not penalize low population, so if you think you will never r
1.) Original Poster said: "Race overall: Flavorful, but one of the weaker races." What are you smoking? Resoln is one of the best, maybe THE best. I think I know why you don't see their strength: "Death Worship: ...Some fun spells...In practice I hardly ever use them, as I cannot afford the mana..." Infection/Graveseal/curse combo? You can wipe out tough armies fast with that, especially if 2 casters wor
I'd love to have in-depth guides for every faction, with tips for players and maybe some suggestions for devs/modders. Unfortunately, I usually play custom factions. That's why I am only an expert with one faction, Resoln. If others like my suggestion of creating these threads for other factions, that would be awesome :) Resoln Wraith Blood: Of all the blood traits, this is the worst, in my opinion. -1 HP/level really hurts your ch
2,3 and 6 dont really bother me, to be honest: I never get attacked. Multiple short wars are probably more realistic than enduring peace after a war. 1: Can caravans be flagged as 'neutral'. Part of the terrain, so to speak? 4: This could use improvement, but that would be more like a new feature or expansion. 5: Crushing Blow is too powerful. When I started LH after FE, I had to reload a couple of times, because my Sov got killed mysteriously. Crushing Blow tu
Mods are not at fault. It happens to me all the time. Resources and lairs often come in groups, drops of the same rarity seem almost always identical. I get the impression it refreshes when you find something else. I could be wrong though. In any case, it would be nice if low level weapons would drop a lot less compared to acessories and armor pieces.
Usually, when I am swarming an opponent, I try to maneuver my units as far to the opposite as possible anyway, so I can swarm with the most units. Meanwhile I also have to take care so as not to expose my more fragile units, putting the tanks in the middle of the fight. I do not see how a flanking bonus would add anything new to this. Oh, and I forgot to mention all the units with multi-attacks I have to position correctly...
Back on topic, I'd like to provide my pro-tip about Insane/Insane: don't do it! [e digicons]:P[/e] It's actually not that much fun trying to optimize every single move you make... Talking about insane/insane: I tried beating ins/ins with Resoln, as a challenge. Just when I was finally starting to win, I noticed my opponents were only Ridiculous [e digicons]:S[/e] Never try to customize your opponents, my friends! </
In FE, Knowledge granted Prestige, making it much more worthwhile. Now it's not very useful. The Study is too expensive, imho. If it were cheaper to build, Knowledge would be more interesting. I like the 3 Fame solution.
Everything Joeball said :) Also, just buffing your units and putting enchantments on your cities already provide huge bonuses. Your mages fully earned their sabbaticals behind the frontlines!
