I like the game and it is a lot, I mean it is really a lot of fun but as of now it is a 7/10. They're still things that need work because right now I still think there isn't enough variety and that doesn't make me want to play all of the civilizations to get the entire experience.

I use steam because I have to, and not by choice. I bought Civ 5 and I had to have steam to play it. In all honesty I would rather pirate games (Ewwww) then have someone else control my games. I am a CD person and I hate having to log onto steam just for them to tell me that I have to download a patch for my game so I can play it offline. I have HughesNet internet because I live in a very rural area and I am only allowed to download so much per day and if I have to do any downloading it is at

Sweet, too bad my internet sucks too bad. I will have to go to a local unlocked wifi and download it tomorrow.

Up until just about 6 months ago I had to buy everything retail because I live in a very rural area and we have yet to see decent internet. We still don't have decent internet, but it is a little better because we have HughesNet now. They're still those people who rely on retail copies for games. Are we going to get any of the saving passed on, or is it you will just be making more? Just curious.

And game developers/publishers do own the intellectual property of their games. How they choose to make them, is their choice, not ours. You can choose to purchase the right to play it, that's the start and end of your rights as a gamer.[/quote] But when they

If you look at today's games they are all falling into 2 categories - FPS and Everything else. I mean hell they're trying make a FPS X-Com? Games aren't original anymore, they don't go for original concepts. The only people doing original concepts are indie developers. Why was Minecraft so popular? Because it was something new that we had never seen before and it was the underground thing that very few people knew about. The problem now is that if you have to compete with all

If Civ 1 sucked and no one wanted to play it because it wasn't revolutionary do you think we would be at a Civ 5? No, by far not. Revolutionary games change the

I think revolutionary is better than evolutionary. What do we remember about a game series? We remember the revolutionary changes in the series. Take the Jagged Alliance series or the X-Com series or even The Elder Scrolls series. What part of these do we remember? The revolutionary changes to the TBS genre for the first two and for the latter we remember the huge, open, and living worlds. I played Skyrim, I kind of liked it; I mean it looked very nice, but it just got old after a while, but

It just disappoints me that we have to give up our rights to products that we purchase. Steam blocks you from your entire library if you cheat or anything like that; who is cheating hurting? It isn't like you're stealing anything. They also lock your entire account if for some reason your paypal messes up. Say all your payments get charged back for some reason and one of those was Steam you don't get to play any of your games. Maybe you get a gift from a friend and he decides to t

I only have steam on my PC because Civ 5 made me install it and now most games make me have it. I don't like the idea that they could block me from playing my games at anytime they so choose. I don't want to get a steam account with $600 and somehow it gets locked and then I am just out that money. That seems like something that would force people to pirating.

Stardock SHOULD have a new poll like this on the front page, updated after every patch, and tracked to see how their actual customers think they're doing. It doesn't hurt to see what people think is the biggest problem. A more collaborative environment, where new ideas are encouraged and built on

Sounds exciting. Whoever James009D is, I would like to thank you deeply for your let's play. I still have about 6 episodes left but it is so exciting and I love watching it because it takes away some of the pessimism I have about the game.

I. Am. So. Excited. Though I could do without steam... I am not a fan. I just download the game and set my steam to offline mode.

I understand not removing entire mechanisms, but the post was just to the tone of "Don't make suggestions you're just wasting your breath unless they're balancing" as I read it. (Opinions differ.) I would just like to see more of the team communicating what they think of suggestions and such, because I haven't seen much of that. I understand that they are hard at work, but we are given the game for a reason. As someone said if a feature is going to bug the beta testers then it
