Holy crap, this is going to be like blizzard. This game is going to be in development another 10 years, just like Diablo 3. I will probably be dead in 10 years.

I don't like the look of the graphics. It looks like, 'O, hai. I just lern'd to use lighting effects.' SPAM LIGHTING EFFECTS. What I am getting at, is that everything looks too shiny and washed out.... Way too shiny and washed out.
I like cultural border wars in Civ though, I mean you push culture in a city to take a specific resource that is on the border of your enemies cultural borders. It is like a cold war and adds another layer of strategy into the game.
No! Empire and Kingdom should be the only hard playstyle difference. Races should get bonuses and penalties and look very different in a biped sort of way. You should be able to choose any race or nation and be able to choose form the 5 ways to win and the 100 strategic playstyles to get there. I don't want to see the Resoln and say, "Guess that means I need to counter a heavy armor army with little magic." Typifying races and nations with a spec
GalCiv 2 is excellent, I still enjoy playing it. Though of recent I started playing Civ 4 again. Name a game that utilizes computer players that doesn't have AI, even if the AI is extremely primitive... Simple list, none. You can't.
BTW I am making a special race from a text based RPG I played when I lived in Savannah (too much racial tension to go outside at night). They are froggish druids. Their leader is a boy.
Sounds racist...
I am with Lord Xia on this, we want 20 playable races that all exactly the same with a different color flag... I say have 4 or 5 races but each has a completely different play style... Hell, even 3 races with completely different play styles a la Starcraft.
How is FE going to treat memory leaks and the general crappy-ness of the game engine? Is it going to improve upon performance of its predecessor? Because when I hear less barren, I think more computer resources needed to run it.

For the record automakers do release crap, I worked for them, you wouldn't believe what they do. That's all I can say about that... legally. Also I like v1.3 it gave me some hope that if there was a 1.4 it might be not too bad... anyway. Glad someone is working on the 'issues', I guess everyone just needs to agree on what
Like how each tile on the map has food/production/resources assigned to it, through terrain type and such.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 6The most obvious change I've noticed is that terrain is much more Civ/MOM like in terms of utilization. in WOM, all terrain was largely cosmetic with special spots. Really? Wow...that would be a huge change, if I understand you correctly. So...does terrain now provide some kind of food / production / whatever bonus, per type? How does this work in FE? [/q
Doubt that Froggy is still reading this thread, but I think the game has a soul. It just came in the form of a book. I read the book and it was actually good. It provides so much lore and depth. I remember Froggy telling us that alot of this game is something he has been imagining for awhile. Now, mind you very little of that lore made it into the game, but I know how difficult it can be to try and make something contain such an epic story when the

I have several Stardock games, and by the way the forum buzzes it seems as if WoM will stop being patched post FE final release.
The game is playable in the same way as doing suicide by alcoholism. It is slow, painful, and you are going to crash a lot. (Leave me alone, I am not good with negative puns...)
I don't see how that plan could ever work, the five of us would never get along!
We have to make it work.... For the good of the gaming community.
I think if FE sucks, Brad should fire Derek, Toby, and Jon and bring in the 5 biggest complainers in the forum and see if they can do any better. I'll start packing my bags now. Lord Xia, you should too.
-Clears throat and starts packing bags- Good thing I have a couple years graphic design experience. ;)

I start it up and I get a bland landscape, 20 spells that take 1000 turns to learn, crappy resource generation, a population prestige equation that is totally broken, crashes, crashes, and more crashes, and beyond all that there is a spider army right outside my starting city and i have no weapons or magic to use. Given that, I wo
Here it is: What if FE isn't any better than WOM? Would they do the second expansion like promised to early buyers or would they just say - "Chock it up to your bad decisions." I am hoping that FE is going to be good, but there is always a chance that something happens like happened with WOM. Discuss. EDIT: I understand that the new team is trying to push it in a better direction, bu
If I do any mods at this point, it will be for FE.
Add dynasties for me. :D If they are using the same engine as WOM then we know it is possible.
After they stop patching the game officially will the modding community be able to put out fan patches? Like a lot of the games that aren't good, and then end up being good because of fan patches.
Quoting Emperor_Nero, reply 6I think they should actually have some internal testing before a release, a lot of internal testing to make sure that the game works... Or the game at least runs most of the time. That was what the recent server update was for. Trust me. The voices in my head have reliable sources. -.-
Good....
