If I am going to watch a video review of something I will usually watch a first impression. Games like FE Brad mentions are not so easy to first impression because of the large amount of depth. I really love watching Let's Plays but just to learn some new tips and tricks.
And so it begins. Metacritic user reviews are rather infamous because they're so easy to "review bomb" with unreasonably low scores which drag down the average. In some cases (for instance, Diablo 3), you'll have people registering dozens of times just to push a score down as low as possible.
Sadly I think that is the downfall of the internet and any site that allows the public to sign up with no hu
From what I have read the biggest thing for this game is that it isn't as polished as one of the huge developer games. I think they have a point, but Brad did say that he never thinks a game is finished that it just ships. FE seems to be their baby so I would hope that this game get's polished until it shines so bright you can't look at it.
I have come to figure out that GameFAQ has never failed me on their player reviews. The long reviews are 99% of the time well thought out and I always go there to check about a game before buying it.
I honestly think that Warlock - Master of the Arcane is better.
That was a medicore game. It looked and played nearly exactly like Civ 5 and was a huge disappointment. It didn't do anything new or innovated, just changed the look and took out some of the good things from Civ 5 (which it already had few of.) My slightly misguided rage is at those people who play the game for 50 turns and say that it is awful because they aren't getting exactly what they wanted. I always try to do at least a play through before deciding if the game is crap or not. The only time that I don't do that is if the game is so terrible that I can't make it through the entire game. I want to know that I am not missing anything from the mechanics or that I am missing the least about possible. I guess I just want
I've read a couple of player reviews there were low on metacritic and it seems that people think because the races have similar looks that they're the same and that since your settlement gets attacked if you don't protect it and you lose that the game is bad. I don't really get it, maybe it is just because I really enjoy the game and I have a lot of fun - but I don't want to see people rating the game low after 2 hours when this game takes at least 4 or 5 games to get the
1. Digital download only, if they have plans to release a box copy I haven't seen them. 2. If you buy from the Stardock site you download from the Stardock site, not need for steam. 3. FE on steam is just the ability to use the steam shell with FE. 4. It just needs to connect that once. If you download through Stardock you can use their software and it will automatically download updates, otherwise I believe the patches/
When Tom Chick speaks I will listen. When Gamespot.com speaks I will listen. When PCgamerUK speaks I will listen. When Metacritic has 10 professional review scores I will listen (barring I know who they are). When 1000 gamers have posted their review scores on Metacritic I will listen. Until then this Ogre site could just be a Stardock offsite and you guys are sooooooooo gullible to believe it.
The game is
You have to give it a couple of minutes. It works fine, but you can't be so impatient. If you cared to read around you would have read that they're people having IT errors that are out of their hands. Shit happens.

The 'blue' is from refracted light through moisture... Under that theory, everything is black.
Not actually, the color of the sky has to to a lot with the scatter of photons in the atmosphere. It is a lot of
iPad mini version? You mean an oversized iPod touch that is going to set you back double+ the price of an ipod touch? Apple... Wow. I wonder what else they'll think of to milk money from their customers.
Well, I always play ironman. The thing is that the game has gotten a lot harder since Beta 3, where my sovereign was killing slags on turn 24 by himself. I used to go into ridiculous with Ceresa, and expect that baring a bear landing 10 mauls in a row, I would win. I had four losses on ridiculous in a row in .992, two of which (Karavox and Markin) came after I had actually started fielding my best possible troops... they were j
After uninstalling the previous FE beta, I installed the new Beta this morning. Three times when starting a new game while creating world a "FE not responding" message appeared at top. If I clicked on message FE did stop responding and I had to restart. If I ignored message and waited a minute the message disappeared and the new map appeared and game played fine. I played about 20 turns with no other issue before stopping. My laptop is running Vista. S
So ... CK2 ... is there a demo to try it out? I couldn't get into EU1, is CK2 something I would enjoy?
It's something that takes some time to learn. I watched a walkthrough/let's play to learn the mechanics. The game is awful if you don't have a mastery of the basic mechanics.
On my last game i was about 75 or so seasons in and I had 2 towns founded by me and another civ had a good 7 or so because I slowly started taking them. I kept finding more and more.
I've noticed this too, and it seems to be slowing down my game. Not lagging, it just makes for a very inefficient game when something doesn't get it's turn or when I try to queue up a few buildings but it changes turn. There are times that I do notice a game slow down itself. This will be a big thing when released because it is very annoying.
I enjoy a good Irish game. In my last campaign I started off with a single county and now I have all of Ireland under my control, 2/3rds of England, 3 or 4 counties in France (Thank you marriage) and 6 or so counties in Spain.
At least the Kingdom v. Empire dynamic seems balanced from this limited testing. I would also like to watch an AI war, that'd be kinda cool.
I just wanted to say that this thread was great. There were many amazing posts in here, especially from Brad and Alstein. I am still young and studying all of the political philosophies. (Reading a lot of Rothbard and some anarchist treatsies at the moment, not that I really agree with it.) Jaffo made some hilarious posts, my favorite being about deck chairs and an ice berg.
As an update I finally got the game to run, I am running version .91. Is that not supported by the installers?
*Rages about the mana cost of a spell* Oh wait, wrong thread. I really hope that it is the correct decision to release the game now. I started watching a let's play from a guy that was posted two weeks ago who was told about FE by a friend. He seems to enjoy it, but it is people like RPS, GameSpy, and all the other large media outlets that are really going to sway the market. People love to hate on total biscuit but he has a large following, m
I have missed the last couple reports, but I recently read what RPS and Gamespy put out about the game. Are any of those things going to be addressed? Those are important factors that the game is missing.
It wasn't the latest I don't believe. It's also refusing to let me into the game, but I believe it was the version before the last version - it isn't like the first round or anything. Keeps saying something about failed to login so I can't really check. Also wasn't a modded version, straight vanilla version. I had put the game on the back burner for the last couple of months and decided to come back. Guess I will have to download it all all over again...
So I downloaded the patch and now the patch is refusing to install saying that it can't find the game when the game is in the place where it says it should be. I would rather not have to redownload the entire 2.75gb game because that will take quite a while with my internet. Is there anything that can be done?
