@OP: I agree that diplomacy is still pretty random and downright confused in this game. IMO, SD ought to sit down for a good month to tweak and test the AI and actually play the game with nothing else in mind to figure this thing out.
The problem is, that in order for crits to effect ranged attacks, they need to effect spells (a ranged attack is essentially a spell.)
And finally, since I'm a huge fan of Steampunk-ish stuff, I am really hoping there will be an expansion (or mod ) taking the tech tree in that direction (early muskets / steam / railroads towards the end of the tech trees ? one can dream )
I would love to see an Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magicka Obscura type mod [e digicons][/e]
Know thine enemy! Don't attack that Earth Elemental army with a bunch of spearmen and/or swordsmen. Use your blunt attack specialists for these situations. Also, save those blunt attack weapons for your melee champions for the same reasons. Same goes for non-physical attacks and defenses. Know what counters what; don't always sell your gear just because it has a lower total attack value on it, that little extra cold attack or spell resist or whatever
I've owned rolls of toilet paper were more fun than Diablo 3. The other games I can't speak to.
Double-click on the unit you're looking at. This will bring up the Unit Details screen. Towards the bottom of the main section (below the spells list) there should be listed current effects on the unit. There you can mouse-over and see the effects you're looking for.
I'm not seeing it on SDC or the Stardock Store.
Alright then. When (if) I find this bug again I'll repost with a debug.err. Thanks!
You Are All My Bitch
You create the spells with an XML editor. You create the effects in the Workshop.
Anyone care to wager on how many "ZOMG!!11! MY GAME WONT UPGRDE!!!@!!" threads we'll see within an hour after release? I say 5.
I think it causes the '-2 I'm Insane' relations modifier to the right. Which made me lol, btw.
Aww shit! Reloading did fix this, so my save game is of no use. BTW, when is the debug.err updated? At the end of the turn or any time an action is taken?

Friendly sunday morning bump.
I use an Earth Elemental in .992 and Hurl Boulder works just fine. Maybe your .xmls are messed up?
You can use it because you have the 6 mana required. The monster AI can't use it because it has no mana. The whole point of giving these creatures hurl boulder was to help control kiting.
The icon for zealotry is not showing up in-game. I never even realized the trait was there [e digicons]8|[/e]
Oh,jeez, I figured it was like the ogre hurl boulder ability. I didn't realize it was a spell. D'oh!
They actually f****d this up too and gave ogres and EE's the spell instead of the ability so they can't use it (they don't have mana.)
I also believe Earth Elementals are suffering from the same issue.
I've noticed Ogres now supposedly have the Hurl Boulder ability (yay!) but they never use it(boo!). Why? I feel the issue is as follows: Ogres have this line of code in CoreMonsterUnitTypes.xml: Spell_HurlBoulder In CoreAbilities.xml, this is the code that actually unlocks that ability: <Ga
Hurl boulder is a magic spell in the earth school of magic. Ophidians should be immune to this.
Yeah Earth Adept 1 unlocks Hurl Boulder spell instead of Hurl Boulder ability . That's why the Ophid is immune.

The devs intentionally tweaked the xp gain for killing AI faction units down a while (maybe before beta 4?) ago. I agree it's a bit too low right now. I definitely don't want it to be at the same level as it is for mobs though. There's more at stake when fighting factions, like control of the map (cities and resources), for instance.
