They're changing a bunch of the core game mechanics already which will not be backported to FE vanilla. Based on Stardock's history, I don't see why they would use the time/resources do it in this instance either.
In LH SD will be removing the blanket weapon type (cutting, blunt, pierce) mechanic. Hopefully this will translate to a more intelligent unit design/upgrade scenario.
Also note that there are three essence slots in the city which are not being used.
I don't think Stardock explicitly said who was going be a part of the beta yet, afaik. are you talking about faction crests? Try using the mod folder instead of altering the core file, like DsRaider suggested. Don't forget to enable Use Mods in the game options.

I think if you enter an opponent's borders without a NAP and they need to ask you to leave, you should take a -1 diplo hit for say 10 turns, stackable.

Definitely not liking the 'stealth change' to pioneer production (bug?). 30 population was better than 30 gold.
I still see that less-than-optimal (read: entirely craptastic) AI diplomacy popup. Please for the love of frogs fix the diplomacy UI!
I hope the diplo UI is getting a spruce up as well, especially when the AI contacts the player. The player has no information at his or her disposal when trying to make a decision with the current crappy UI interface. I would also like the ability to counter the AI's demands/offers.
Stormworld shouldn't have much of a problem porting to the expansion. I'm screwed, however.
