I would start with a dating website. Play the field and don't settle.

Did you honestly believe that despite the fact that the review is DAYS old, you were the first person to post about it? Try to respect the forum clutter a bit. Also, you are VERY ignorant about the state of the beta, There were at least several beta testers who were very vocal about releasing this game in this state. They also didn't have access to the full game... The CEO of stardock said the text of the gamespot review was SPOT ON. It would really be
To a point, legitimate complaints do not include stating over and over that the game was reelased early, think everyone knows that. Noone gets shot down for giving ideas, just for being a whiney person.
It's a vicious circle. People will whine and others will whine at the whining. There is no help for it and constantly trying to denounce every negative doesn't do much to help.
It's very strange. The tone of the OP and thread feels like we are potential consumers clamoring for a release and simply have no patience for delays rather than paying customers who purchased beta software at a premium. It's fine for Stardock to have no patience and hurry this game out the door well before any resonable person would agree it's ready, but the folks who believed the hype and purchased this pile of bugs are 'angry kids' who need to back off. S
"Why I chose Elemental over Civ 5" I initially choose Elemental over Civ5 because I choose Impulse over steam (thats a whole other topic discussed in length elsewhere, so I won't get into here). 2k's handling of Civ reinforces my decision to abandon my most favored game. Stardock as a publisher is everything that 2k is not. From this gamers pov... 2k offers nothing while taking much. Stardock dialogues
If Civ5 is as broken as elemental when it comes out, I'll definitely give it a pass. That would be a huge shame as I am big Civ fan.
Quoting wayninja, reply 21 3) I was refering to the resource that determines how fast your population grows.... I thought that was called prestige... maybe I'm wrong. But I guess its not "really" a resource in the traditional sense.... more like just an upgrade....
You are right, prestige is how your population grows, I was mistaken, I should have said 'reputation'.
I should not cripple myself that way for the game to fun. You asked what it is that makes elemental so fun for us who enjoy it. This is my answer. Take it or leave it.
I wasn't being serious, you had that exact quote in your reply (but now I see you edited it out). Don't be so uptight.
Quoting joasoze, reply 47I am serious. If you have a suggestion of a better game feel free to offer your insight There's no tactical combat in the Civ games. The ATT/DEF -> DMG system is way too simplistic. [...having unit unit counters is not enough in my book.] I don't want to mention more stuff like dmg/resistance types etc., because I prefer to play with fantasy themed games anyway.
Lol, that's the best response to a bug I've ever heard. The hippie approach to software design. Classic. How dare you sir. That little electronic soldier has an electronic wife and probably even a few electrons as well. How callous can you be?
I should not cripple myself that way for the game to fun. Seriously, though, I get what you are saying and I even posted previously that the only fun I was having was in trying to find wacky ways to 'win'. That fun only (for me anyway), lasts so long. I'm glad to see that you are enjoying though. As for MOO2, it did come later and usually involved some TENSE battles to maintain the expansion or defend the empire. The is no such t
One word, magic. I (not really sure why) was under the impression that Magic would be something special in this game. And I'm not just talking about shards or essence. I thought magic was going to play a much larger critical role to success. Something along the lines of world affecting spells that do more than raise/lower terrain or give a bonus to a city. I was thinking Meteors and volcanoes and other world altering stuff. Magic that
Welcome to 3 posts ago... :D
Well, you are a bit late, we just had a very long thread about gamespot's review locked. I have a feeling this is going to end up the same, and it's not going to get to 5 pages before it happens.

The threat of scraping by like that is only in your mind, in the long run you will easily steamroll the AI, monsters and all. But i am playing the game for the 'now', not for the 'in the long run'. If there is a problem in the game by turn 30 that challenges my strategic skills, i don't really care that by turn 350 i will steamroll the AI, i'm enjoying the moment. You say i'm playing the game 'in my mind'. I say that is t
haha, excellent gameplay summary there stax77. That's how I play the game too. If you just go turn to turn clicking the button and doing the first thing that comes to mind... maybe TBS strategy gaming and especially Elemental isn't your cup of tea. A lot of thought should be going into the game, thats where it becomes a challenge, and that's when it becomes fun.
Lol, maybe you just aren't reading what I'm writing. &
Responsibility is trickle up. There's no need for anyone below the top to apologize as they simply did what was asked of them. What purpose does it serve to have more than 1 person (with each subsequent person having less of 'their finger on the button') apologize? I might have issues working for a guy who blames his underlings when things go badly. That's just me.
Quoting wayninja, reply 14 I'm not trying to say anyone's opinion is invalid, I simply can't seem to get anyone to clearly articulate one. The best I seem to get is 'it just is fun'. Ok, I guess that work for some people. I totatly agree with you on that. I think what they are trying to say is that it has its fun "points"...... that is a better way to articul
It's so silly to respond, but I just have to. None of it matters. None. The threat of scraping by like that is only in your mind, in the long run you will easily steamroll the AI, monsters and all. Even if it takes a few turns longer to get that shrill hive (which is is completely unnecessary as well). The AI just isn't smart enough to stop a steady build up and steamroll completely breaking the illusion of any early game tension... at least that's the way all m
Well, you are a bit late, we just had a very long thread about gamespot's review locked. I have a feeling this is going to end up the same, and it's not going to get to 5 pages before it happens. That said, review is spot on. While not liking the score, Brad basically agreed with everything in the text.
Quoting wayninja, reply 14I just don't get how other folks could feel that it's basically fine as is... kinda perplexing to me. I think you've got it a little off base here. I wouldn't say anyone here thinks the game is done, no issues, rainbows and sparkle ponies. I just think a lot of people have a high amount of respect for Stardock and a good deal of patience. Personally, I'm willing to look past memo
With all respect, how can the magic system get 'dumbed down' from here? That's not sarcastic, I'm honestly wondering how it could get more simple....
I'm not trying to say anyone's opinion is invalid, I simply can't seem to get anyone to clearly articulate one. The best I seem to get is 'it just is fun'. Ok, I guess that work for some people. @Rune - What it doesn't do is getting in the way of what it does. For example, and as stated elsewhere, it's bit difficult for me to analyze the multiplayer at the moment. But that aside, even the things I can try to evaluate seem horribly broken or simpl
That's actually not all that far from true. However, please note that it didn't start that way...
How is it unique? What exactly is unique about it? It's a 4x game and that isn't unique. It has a very simplistic tactical combat which is nothing new, the spell system is nothing new. The tech branches are uninspired and definitely have a 'been there done that feel' even when they aren't giving X% boost to resource Y. The only thing really novel about it that I can see is the lack of a distinction between the 'city' view and the map view, which I guess is cool,
Can someone give me a reasonable explanation about what is 'fun' currently about this game? The AI is pathetically easy to beat, the campaign is ridiculously short and there is no way to play against a human opponent. Seriously, I really, really, really want to like this game, but after playing 3 sandbox games now, I just have 0 interest to start another as I know exactly how it will go...
