And from where I am, the bottom line is that if I buy Civ V or SC2 or ME2 or BC2 ( etc etc.) I will pay "less" than Elemental. That's simply a fact, regardless of the excuses or technicalities. And the point of this whole thread.
So, then, you do feel you should pay less than the rest of us?

I disagree, it's not a problem of design by committee, it's a problem of design not fully implemented. You can see where they are trying to go and feature creep isn't the issue. The problem is they simply didn't implement, or implemented poorly the design.

THey never actual attack me. I've been thinking that they might be doing that instead of asking for a non-aggression policy. Maybe their value algorithm is off? Also, has anyone seen the AI make archers? I've seen some ruffians with bows, but never an enemy.
Y
Huh? You find the AI too difficult? I think you may be in the minority... are you actually trying to expand or fight back? I don't get what the complaint is... that you get attacked by the AI? What should it do? Sit there docilely while you trounce it? Or that you just can't seem to get ahead of it? If the latter, what have you tried? In my experience the AI is too easy to defeat...
There's no such thing as too much input. The problem arises when you try to satisfy all that give input.
Sounds good, but so long as Civ5 is imprisoned on Steam, i won't be buying it. Better than Civ IV?... I guess there is truly no accounting for taste. And it's not even a fair comparison. Civ IV has been out for years and has some truly fantastic mods for it. Elemental isn't even really a game yet. I agree with others on this thread that state that being a small (Stardock is NOT indie, let's be clear) company does not excuse releasing a hot mess. There are reasons why Activision and Blizzard have the resources they do. You don't thin
If you don't start next to or near food and a gold mine at the start of the game, it is really, really tough to get going. I had two game starts where I had neither close, so I quit them and restarted until I got food next to me. My capital did not have a gold mine near it. I did manage to be by a warg spawn point, but of course, my faction can't use them. Starting in a swamp is not my idea of fun since the last time I checked, you had to "t
I've had this too and have been able to advance the turn by turning the auto end turn on and attempting to move a unit. For some reason that advanced the turn even though no amount of clicking the turn button would suffice. After the turn advanced, I was able to shut the auto turn off and continue as normal. I'm not sure if that is the same as your auto explore solution or not.
Note: it took me 3 "starts" before I felt like I had a playable position to start. The first one was in a pile of swamps and the second had almost nothing for resources nearby.
I'm not sure I understand. You don't need resources and terrain only affects movement and not much else, certainly not city production.
Sweet, maybe now we can get some bear armor.
Weird, I haven't cared to look at the xml yet, but what's with the inconsistency between the model and skeleton paths? Also, how does the hitpoints work? 0 hit points at level 1... that seems bad. Nice find p22, do you know where "IceBlast" is defined, I haven't heard of that spell...
This thread needs to die. Can't we agree that as many people want it as don't and call it a wash? Even if one side had an advantage, the thread is moot because: 1. This isn't the direction their going, by their own admission. 2. Even if 1 wasn't true, there is too much else wrong with the game for this to be on the list of to do items at this stage. Don't make me start an OFFICIAL "KILL THE EPIC REQ
I keep trying to marry my daughter to another nations daughter and keep getting a message saying "We can't accept that! Such a union would produce no offspring!" or something like that, and I keep looking for the button that says "yeah, but it would be hot".

I did in fact click the save button. Then it moves on to the civilization select screen and then on to the new game.
Quoting 1SuperG, reply 30 My point is that if you want to play Civ, go buy it. It's one thing for Stardock to notice things and do things diffrently in their next game, it's a whole nuther to re-write a released game to make it more like another one. Appreciate what they have created for what it is and isn't. The more 'customer demands' worked into this game the less I feel it actually had a solid plan/roadmap to begin with. <br /
