75%? Really? What is the precedent or justification for a partial refund? Are you allowed to keep 25% of the game or something? Then again, some might make the argument that 1.07 is 25% of a game, so....
Some of these reviews read like kicking someone while they're down. Elemental hardly deserves a 4.
Which version? If you are talking about 1.0, then you are right, a 2 or a 3 is probably more in order. It might not even be fair to review 1.0 since I'm not sure it qualifies as a game. 1.06 or so, which is what it appears gamespot reviewed it at is probably a 4 or 5 if you are gi
It's hit and miss really. The stuff on the tactical screen looks decent (although as said, animations are strange at best). The 'ragdoll' stuff in the designer is a joke and really looks poor IMHO.
Wow, I hadn't seen that thread before... no wonder the massive mea culpa was issued and reiterated...talk about getting it wrong in the worst way with an added dash of condescension thrown in for good measure... just ouch.
Um. Ok.
But commenting on his initial opinion (pre-review) isn't fobidden.
Certainly not, just couldn't stand the implication that this was a review. Comment away. Edit: Grr... hate the way this forum quotes embedded quotes.. never works right without manual intervention...
Why did you feel you needed to contact anyone? Wouldn't a friend or a counselor be a better shoulder to cry on? I'm not sure what you expect to happen? Someone to PM you wire transfer for 50 dollars?
Quoting wayninja, reply 27 Quoting Phantus, reply 26 I can't believe somebody thought this was okay to release. Constant crashing and a one act campaign?!? The patches haven't really done anything to stop the crashing. This may very well be the end of Stardock. Oh, please. Might you be exaggerating a wee bit? Sure, the game is rubbish as is, but St
There might be a good reason for it, but can anyone tell me why I'd buy a healing potion for 60 gildar when the cheaper 'salted pork' does the same thing for 40 gildar? Oh, and why does salted pork do the same thing as a healing potion?
Er, guys... hate to break this up, but this blurb was hardly a 'review'... In fact, it promises said review 'later'.
Why is there only stats to put points into? I don't want to turn this into a fallout game, but some perks at certain levels or for large amounts of points would really spice things up. Some examples, just shooting from the hip; Camouflage - Costs 3 points, makes the recipient gain 25% defense against ranged attacks. Stealth - Costs 4 points, makes it so that recipient ONLY cannot be seen from more than 2 tiles away Dri
The tech tree in generally is uninspired even if it were fleshed out. When you start running into 'continuously researched' techs that simply gives a percentage bonus by level 3 or 4, that's a bad sign.
Brutally difficult to learn? I disagree. More like Brutally difficult to understand with little to no in-game help or UI feedback. I feel baffled by people who are addicted to this game. I want so badly to be, but it's like trying to get addicted to saltines. Actually no, this game is slightly more bland than a saltine.
Unless you want to play it RIGHT NOW, just wait.
Well, that's kinda the rub for me. There isn't much to 'play'. This is basically a tech demo at best. The AI is so horrible that the only fun is finding new ways to win while handicapping yourself. And with a severely gimped campaign and no multiplayer... well... there just isn't much 'play' to be had ATM.
Quoting Annatar11, reply 90 It should also be emphasized that no one was fired. I've had to let go many people over the years and as anyone who has ever been in that position can tell you, there is a world of difference between terminating someone and laying them off. With all due respect, Frogboy, this is a bad time to try and use flowery language. Sadly, there is not a "world of difference" - the bottom line is those people

Not sure what else you are looking for other than repeating what has already been said and accepted. If they were really ashamed they'd be giving refunds. I dont care about the negative press or people hating the game, I personally am having the tiem of my life. Yes it sucks it was released early with alot of bugs, but right now 1.07 patch is very very playable and im enjoying it. Sucks Brad and the crew are having hard times though, wish them all the best.
Except for CivNet, I have yet to experience a Civilization game that was anywhere close to being as shoddy and unfinished at release as Elemental is right now.
Agreed, I bought Civ4 on day 1 and while it had it's problems, it was years ahead (almost literally) of where elemental is now, even with 1.07. Sorry, but that's the simple truth.
It's a turn-based strategy game without the words "Sid Meier's" in its title, even if it was perfect in every way and included a free pony on the box it'd still only get a 8.0 at best, and then only if the reviewer in question happened to be partial to ponies. So, unsurprising. Nothing more than yet another game taken by Gamespot to be made an example of how they totally do not inflate scores, honest, just so they still hav
