I'm really enjoying the latest beta, the balance improvements have actually made me choose different technologies I wouldn't normally pick, such as getting basic weapons! I think the early game balance has improved alot, but I think mid to late game still needs work. And you need to look at bugs such as the AI not picking up equipment and also monsters not casting magic during auto-combat (such as fighting the dark sorcerer).

Here is an earlier save, as you can see 4 unclaimed gooies just around an AI city: My sov, with pretty much armor and weapons found in AI territory (except for kite shield - that was a quest): <img src="http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t364/kdonahue100/FeError10_z
Now, I have a theory on this. I play on dense monster settings and there are monsters literally everywhere in my game, even about mid game. So anyway, I've just started meeting AIs and there are unclaimed equipment and empty monster lairs everywhere. I just captured a screen shot, I should have got one earlier when there was literally like 4 or 5 unclaimed goodies in one screen: <img src="http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t364/kd
I am on the verge of excellent. The latest Beta really has come a long way to fix some balance issues, and I was surprised how much that changed the feel for me. It was a lot harder to get good equipment (well, with the exception of a bug I'm about to submit), but with a lot of the bugs fixed up and a bit more balance issues ironed out, my vote will soon be excellent. I have to say, the game feels pretty epic and has been very stable for me. In the
I hadn't met Kraxis yet, but I spotted his border. I entered his border so that I could talk to him. He told me to get off his land, but I still hadn't made official contact yet? He still wasn't showing up in my factions window. It wasn't until several turns later when I actually encountered one of his units that I made offical contact
In a combat where I had 3 units, a darkling shaman shrunk my wolf on the first turn. On the next turn, he cast shrink on my already shrunken wolf. At least on the third turn he shrunk my sov.
I thought path of the governor lead to some sort of road building ability, but I haven't seen it in the game?
If we are going to get less special equipment from looting and killing weaker monsters, I think we should be able to sell equipment for a higher price at the shops. I think this was nerfed because of all the amazing items we were finding randomly. Also, and this may just be a wish, I think it would be great if we could set the aggression levels for a unit on the strategic map. I often have wolves, bears, or other glass cannons in my champs a
From what I can tell that tile the AI settled on was not owned by you. Let me know if I am incorrect. Assuming it wasn't inside your borders then it is fair game for the AI to found a city there. We wouldn't want declaration of war every time someones ZoC expands and pushes someone elses borders. It would seem arbitrary and confusing. The intention is that there is some friction from

I feel somewhat the same, however reading through my post I found myself thinking that most of your problems are in theory solvable with balance improvements.
Well, I hope it is just a balance issue, and I hope they can get it right before release. I read Frogboy's comment in another thread and it sounds like they are aware of these problems.
Like a lot of people said here - fun factor is a major problem. Most of us who find ourselfs forcing us to play are real, true old school veterans of the 4X and RPG-genres. And there just is something, something that the game is lacking or has wrong. From my point of view the bugs aren't a big problem. It's a beta and I can live with bugs. Sure, it might crash or behave weirdly, but I kind of trust Stardock to get these fixed
really? lol By significant economic advantage, I was thinking they had like a +2 gildar per turn or something.
There are still a lot of bugs and polish left. I to hope they take a bit more time.
It really drives me crazy that the AI just keeps walking through my territory. There is no way to tell them to stay out of my territory. I don't even get a pop up or any notification of them being there even though I don't have any pacts. If I tell them to get off my land, they just come right back the next turn. And thats even if I'm allowed to talk to them, sometimes they are too busy. This really is frustrating, especially when they can then create
I have the beastlord trait. I attack a bear in its den and tame the beast. However moving over the goodie hut in the same turn doesn't allow me to take the treasures. I had to wait until the next turn (move off the den and back onto it) to claim the goodies.
Playing against ridiculous AI opponents and it is still fairly early in the game, and all of my AI opponents have insane amounts of money: This was my weakest opponent. By comparison, I have 162 gildar.
I used a health potion, and after that my health bar didn't go down when damage was taken. Could it have something to do with healing?
I also think that if an opponent plops down an outpost or settlement that is going to eat into someone else's border, this should be considered an act of war. The same should apply to players, I can steal an opponent's resource by putting an outpost just on their border. Seems wrong that this wouldn't piss them off.

This shouldn't happen: I got fed up telling Markin to get off my land. Next things he's built a city directly in the center of my territory. Thats like France setting up a city in the rockies and thinking its ok. The annoying thing is I have a non-aggression pact.
This quest was rated medium. The first thing the dark sorcerer does is cast despair. He is level 20. Therefore he causes 80 damage to all units straight off the bat. The other bug is evident in this screen shot of the quest:
Oh, it was only an attempt: Attempt to fix issue where the AI will offer you tribute but the title of the dialog says "demand tribute" I can live with that.
[e digicons]8C[/e] They said this was fixed in the change log! I don't know what to believe any more. I'm all disorientated. My trust is broken!! broken I tells you!
Regarding minimum build times, couldn't this be scaled by the amount of material available? I.e. a 3/2 has a minimum of 4 turns, 3/3 mininum of 3 turns, a 3/4 minimum of 2 turns, etc.? Edit: just realized Alstein suggested the same thing :)
I turned off the master quest victory condition and the quest was still there and I was dissapointed. I wanted something else to fill up this large section of the map.
