I would like to see city size affect how much you harvest from various resource nodes. That way spamming lev 1 crap cities is less helpful than taking the time/food needed to max cities out around several nodes.

Yeah, grab the OOM fix if your system can handle it. I run now with no crashes though perhaps i could play for longer and force some. Haven't had a game last more than 500 or so turns.
Lol, good stuff. Fun with technology.
I don't know how many of you played spellbinder or even earlier magestorm, but man oh man where they fun. I was just wondering if you guys know of something similar. I don't just mean a shooter, I mean something with such wildly different classes/leveling/customizing stats/spells(or weapons). It was so fun playing a mentalist and jumping 50 feet up to a ledge to escape from a group of players, or creating a wall of stone to block a passage as a priest.
I use steam, direct2drive, impulse, and gamersgate. When you want to buy something it's good to check several places as you can see pretty major prices differences at different times. They all have their minor advantages/disadvantages but for the most part they all work. I have no issues getting my games when i want to play them.
I don't think they care about AMD. I mean really... has AMD had a profitable quarter yet? AMD bleeds money every year and is only still alive because people keep propping it up. I wish they were better off (competition = good) but I really don't think intel is worried about them in any market.
All i would want from civ is better interface. Really though, that doesn't have to be from civ. I am fine with interface ideas stolen from anywhere and everywhere. Making it easier and faster to do the things I want to do dramatically increases my fun factor. I mean really... who wants to micro all 90 cites you need to take over on the way to killing an ai player. (assuming you don't just abuse his stupidity and assassinate&
People say you get crappy kids from Janusk because he is a low class champion. I wish there was some way to tell which ones were good.
Remember, currently the best strat is to spread fast as hell placing cities near everything you see. Early game the ai can build up a bit faster than you might expect ( it rushes like a zerg player). You need to spread fast enough to counter the initial army spam. Then you wont be challenged again till your next game.
One issue I run into in Elemental is that as I begin taking cities from other players (ai) I quickly get bogged down in my standard build in each 1. I build buildings x,y,z, produce a few units and then ignore them because I have no desire to worry about the piles of cites i will end up with. It would be very nice if i could set a standard build order that all of my cities would work towards. This would allow me add a building or 2 to specific cites while ignoring clicking the sam
Is there an audio version? While I love to read, I am crazy busy finishing up my EE degree. I pretty much only get to enjoy books now if i can listen to them in the car on my way to and from class.
If you have 4+ gigs of ram use the oom fix. It allows more than 2 gigs for elemental and for me has eliminated all crashes. (though in theory it should crash eventually even with the extra memory) https://forums.elementalgame.com/393090 Make sure to read before using.
Yeah, not sure how you could be lacking food in 1.08. Start 1 city with a food tile. Send all caravans to that city. Make sure that city has all possible food upgrades. Watch as each city you build/capture increases your food surplus. Start burning the extra hundreds of food to keep your people warm in the winter. Soon you should be able to develop steam powered machines. From here your empire will really take off.
MoM did a heck of a lot more for me than chicken soup. Mom showed me the power of an old man with two amulets and a staff. Yay for artifacts.
Wow. I remember colonization. I wish we were looking at colonization 5 now instead of civ 5. (civ games are fine, i just enjoyed colonization more than the civ games i have played.) I would be thrilled to see this mod come into being. Are you planning on using the tech tree for the founding fathers? Unfortunately I lack the skills and the time to work on something like this as I am working on an electrical engineering degree which eats WAY too much of my time.</p
Yeah, I posted about this a while back and people acted like i was insane...... Anyway it is a major issue and needs to be fixed. I would suggest not letting any of the sovs with that skill into your games since it amount to an auto victory for them in tactical. On the bight side, when i auto-resolve my panicked units seem to wake up and fight.
The games is playable for me. I am running on a system with way more ram and such than required so I can use the out of memory fix to run without crashes though. Otherwise it is a bit annoying crashing every 50-100 turns. The game has some positive qualities and is enjoyable (to me) but it also has some major issues. The balance still needs a lot of work and the AI players are extremely predictable. It is also a bit hard to see exactly where i
I saw it happen on lots of counter strikes from a champion and with some archers attacking my units, but the archers were using a modded weapons so i was assuming they were a bad test group. The champion was using normal items.
I have seen units do much more damage than their listed attack values. For example a guy with a 20 attack hitting for 40-60. To my knowledge this should be impossible. Did I install a screwed up mod or is that working as intended?
MrCapitalG, the issue isn't that they are hated for being big as you say. It is that in many cases what sells to the masses is not fun to the type of gamer who enjoys the sort of game a lot of us here like. Is there anything wrong with a company doing the math and seeing that very basic games have a larger possible player base and that you can sell graphics? Hell no. Do I want to play shooter clone X or insert sport 20XX just because the company upgraded their graphics and changed
Yeah they were terrible, but i ran for 2 hours earlier with no crash once i re-applied this fix to 1.08. Thanks again man.
You are exactly right. As gaming has gone from a small fraction of the population to mainstream, the quest to sell to a wider part of the market has steadily decreased the quality of games while constantly yelling "Hey, look at our graphics!!!!!". Rather depressing. Thanks for producing interesting games guys.
For the bow the bug fix mod apparently works. Check the mod forums.
You can fix the archery thing with the bug fix mod 3.1
Yeah I totally agree that this game has been more enjoyable than a lot of complete games I have played. It is easy to focus on the negative though so you will see a lot of hate.
