Lousy graphics, barely competent AI, fantastic game. I've known people who have dived into it that never emerged into reality, again.
Glazunov1
Been moribund for ages. The 90's were really their best period, with very active teams that included some truly creative talent. The parent company also funded them out the wazoo. I was invited to their headquarters when I was working on a preview of one title--and LucasArts was based in a "small" mansion and series of out-buildings once owned by a Gilded Age multimillionaire who wanted a "cottage" to "get away from it all." The main building had winding mahogany staircases, a library wit
Looks like they've set a price for the forthcoming game: $20 US.Which is actually pretty damn good. They're due to enter a third beta shortly, and may have to push back their original release date, but the product really looks great and plays well.
MoM and Alpha Centauri. The undisputed masterpieces of the genre. Flaws and all.
Choose, grasshopper, between them. For only one will guide you forward.
I'd personally like to see this made optional, so that if you want to find out more about your heroes before selecting between two, you could choose an option at game's start.
Heather-colored chicken cordon bleu.

On the other hand, it's interesting to read the arguments of somebody whose viewpoints are often though not always diametrically opposed to mine. If nothing else, it makes me think; and I wish we had an opportunity to sit down and talk away a night in a good restaurant with spouses or significant others
This is true. However the premise has a rotten foundation. When has such ever occurred for more than a few years at a time? In the entire history of mankind, do we have a single solitary example of a long running, efficient government policy at anything resembling the scale of the Federal government? I don't believe humanity is capable of it.
I'm inclined to agree with you on this. Th
It certainly is fun. It's simpler than many similar games out there, but it does a lot right.
Any advice on how to keep the money flowing better?
In the early game, you make money through rewards in battle. I always start with a wizard or commander, and as the first, I use my money to push for getting my wizard to fireball. For the latter, I simply focus on getting the best second or third tier troop I like. Always set yourself an important goal that will raise the power of your combat stack. Think long
Taxes are a minor, tertiary factor.
Raising revenues are always important, and taxes are an important factor in that, as I'm sure a really smart guy like yourself realizes. Because revenue when it is spent transparently and in a way that benefits a nation, reflective of taxpayers' desires, is a very good thing. It makes an economy move better, faster, stronger. And although my quote of Eisenhower and

If you need some strategic help, Xaltotun, feel free to ask. I've been playing the game quite a bit, and though I'm hardly an expert, I'll do my best.
First, state the color of your underwear. Then, state what you just ate. Thus: White meatball sub. Or... Pink stew. Or... Commando steak. Mine was the first, above. Over to you.
Quoting sweatyboatman, reply 1 the only problem is that at Hard and above, the monsters will completely ignore the AI players. Pretty sure that's not true, it only seems that way. If anything higher world difficulty is harder on the AI than the player in my experience because they love to set monsters loose from their lairs and proceed to have their economy shredded as a result. It really hampers their expan

Interesting. Out of curiosity, why no more than that?
Tough to choose, I know, but still: Only one, and it must be turn-based. If you can't pick one, you are officially a loser, and will only be allowed to play LH against Brad, who really isn't too good at it. Sorry, but standards must be kept. [e digicons]:-"[/e]

Just tell her you enjoy playing the game as a hobby and leave it at that. 20 bucks is nothing compared to golf clubs for 1000+ bucks or hockey equipment for ten times that.
I suspect the problem isn't financial, but time spent away from her--or from all other activities.
Quoting Publius of NV, reply 4 I also think that with more fame you should get higher level heroes. But I'd like to see it that at some point (say, for example, level 9) the heroes start coming with some starting set of attributes but that you get to choose further attributes up to the level of the hero, in the same way that you can choose the attributes of henchman that you train in fortresses that provide level bonuse

If I'm happy playing a game, I'll of course leave the computer more often. I mean..." Best reason I can suggest is that you've already spent money on a decent game, and the expansion makes it significantly better. So your money goes further. If she's got a mind for finances

I'm noticing periodic slowdowns, that happen with no consistent cause. Some sessions are free of them. Others get the in ten minutes. I quit, reload, and everything is fine.
