Maybe it would be better to base it on level of spells, or at least the full unassisted mana cost in combat. If you can only cast 30 mana worth of spells that can mean 30 Obscuring Fogs or 2 Fireballs. But I agree that Fireball and Blizzard need some other balancer - either you have to wait until every other surviving creature has had the opportunity of one action (ie. one full "round") or that the big hitter spells like Fireball and Blizzard need three or even four actions before

But non-hitpoint systems are also harder to balance.
Lord Cobol, if you made an OP, you can change the forum that thread is in by editing the OP, and changing the "Category" category. =)
But did they go and read reviews first before they bought the game? Once it was released, it was pretty soon afterwards that most people thought that the game was a disaster. I'm not particularly criticising, but if you buy a game these days that you haven't checked up both official reviews and player reviews, you're not giving yourself the best chance to get the best games. It's just sensible to check up to see if a game is all that it's cracked up to be
Do you have the latest patch? Many things have been fixed since version 0.75 (the first beta), and it is preferred that feedback and bug/crash issues be from the current version, which is 0.77 as of the time of this post. See here . If you do have the latest patch, please submit your crashlogs, which are saved for virtually all crashes, and can be found in "C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - Fallen
We shall see, we shall see. As we are all human, and companies are made up of humans, both companies and humans within those companies can make mistakes. Frogboy has done everything humanly possible to deserve a second chance for Stardock, and I think most people will give it to him. One bad game can be an aberration. Only two games can be a pattern.
The install version is always 0.75, the first beta. To get the latest version you need to install the latest patch, which is the "Beta Update" on the Stardock site. This saves Stardock from having to make multiple install versions, but it can certainly be a bit confusing for newer beta testers. =)
There has been a bit of a miscommunication. People who started from the second beta (first patch) and later need to download the "Full Beta" file from Stardock, then install the "Beta Update" file to get it to the latest version. This saves them from having to make several (or many) install builds and can just provide a patch from your version to the latest version, but it can be confusing. The latest version of FE beta is 0.77. The base version is 0.75. Hope t
It got introduced in the first patch (I think). Although it doesn't seem to apply to battles, and the side where the Start Menu is (if on auto-hide) doesn't scroll very easily.
I really like your idea seanw3 and would strongly support it. The last thing we want is the hero trait system, arguably one of the best systems in the game, become bogged down in over-randomness and lack of specialisation and making it too easy to become a jack of all trades (or is that traits? ;-)). Might I also suggest toning down hitpoints for heroes, to make constitution related traits more of a good choice.
Yeah, makes them really easy XP for no real risk (although with a number of heroes getting one immobilised isn't really a big worry).
Does it need to get permission to install? Win7 or Vista?
Wow, this is definitely a big exploit! Maybe losing your champion in a battle where you lose means you permanently lose some of your equipment (if it is allocated as loot for the enemy)?
Also the AI can use any unit design you make, provided it has all the abilities (weapon, armor, items, traits). If it doesn't, it has the same named unit but without the characteristics that it doesn't have.
I've only got a dual-core from approx 1.5-2 years ago.
I only have to wait a few seconds (10 at the most, but most of the time only 5) to get a new turn. Maybe there is something with your configuration, other programs running, etc. I know that 0.77 is the most stable FE beta yet, and later game seems more manageable too (in terms of not crashing as much, and perhaps less cases of corrupted saves - at least not yet in my first major 0.77 game, as at Season 213).
Don't they even look at the title screen??
The space between cities when founding might be 9, but I think buildings still have a minimum of 7 squares between other cities buildings (not including improvements on the map you can connect to which might be one square closer).
I had a really fantastic unit coming out, that had Arcane Armor and a Legendary Weapon (I chose the Axe with Backswing - second chance if first dodges) from completing the Arena, and a horse, Two Strength Traits, 1 Constitution Trait, a whole lot of accessories, and I was going to wipe out Gilden, which I had let get about three quarters as powerful as me. However, when the game crashed, I found that the two autosaves and the manual save always crashed the game, so they must be corrupte
I played the Arena quest - finished it - got lots of cool stuff, tried to save, got "Out of Memory Error". I hadn't done anything else since I loaded the game apart from the Arena quest. :-( And this is on Win7 64 bit with 4 GB of RAM.
No, rare isn't that rare. I'd rather you can choose one Path only, and only Path of the Mage can learn new magic skills, and then only if your side has a magic shard of that type.
I think this happens when you switch to another focus (such as a champion or army) while the city zoom mode is active.
If it works, I think it would be great if selecting "Load Game" or "New Game" when you have already loaded or started a game quits the game and automatically restarts with it. If not possible of course then remove those options after the first game is loaded/started, but if it is at all possible I'd prefer the automatic quit and restart! =)
Just because "this" nerf might be too big, doesn't mean that a nerf wasn't needed. With any balance issues it can be that you go both sides of the problem before you get a workable solution.
