You can only press ctrl + N on turn one or else the game will crash.

The AI doesn't prioritize research, and when they do they tend to go for the magic tree from what I have seen. I watched a 400 turn AI vs AI game, I never saw anyone go above 3 units per squad.
I agree with this, the town center should stand out more.
I've never seen trolls survive, that must be a bug. The way research trades work is that you get progress in a random tech of that field. So if you traded for 50 points of civics tech, it might end up in economics, making it a little faster to research that technology. City destruction leaving behind barren land is an intended feature and there is a spell you can learn to restore the land.
If you enable cheats you can use Ctrl + I to give a hero all of the items in the game. This might help make sure that none of your suggestions are already in the game (#1 & 2 for example). Otherwise there are some good suggestions there.
Are you sure it doesn't pop again the next turn? That happened to me once.
I've actually been able to rush ahead of the AI early on and demand surrender of the first one I meet, on Challenging. It is nice because prestige is so hard to get and hunting down their remaining forces when they are almost dead is tedious. I think that they should be a little less willing to submit, especially if you are the opposite faction (kingdom vs empire)
I am okay with a 1 per faction upgrade to the guardian statue but just giving an AI a powerful free unit doesn't really seem like fun. I like being able to rush in the beginning and take out an opponent in the first 50 turns. I would hate to have to camp out their city and kill all their pioneers until I built up a big enough army to wipe them out. Combine that with respawning sovereigns and champions... it gets tedious.
Yeah I wanted to do a let's play but decided not to until the corruption gets fixed. It boring to play against one AI unfortunately.
I have only been able to get through games if there is only one AI opponent, else save corruption.
Start a new game. In the screen where you choose your Sovereign, you can see all of the blood stats by hovering over the icons, you can see the faction stats listed below the sovereign stats... its all there. Just click on all 8 of them and see the differences.
This is really well done, I hope it also shows the spells you get from having 2 types of magic. Speaking of which, it would be nice if you could see how you actually acquired a spell since I don't memorize the changes everytime I level up.
They changed it in the latest version that you can take your whole army with you. I usually solo him with my main hero anyways. I think he could use a buff, he is not nearly as hard as killing 6 ashwake dragons or Vetrar for that matter. More HP, some cool debuffs, some spells that hit your whole army and it could be a fun fight.
(1) Its been so long since E:WoM came out and nobody really knows about that game unless they bought it. Just call it Fallen Enchantress since its shorter :D (I reversed my previous stance). (3) Looking through the spell list, I think that you have enough really. My only suggestion would be to add some more spells that use 2 different shards. What about a unit enchantment that increases spell damage by 5% for each water and air shard you have, and requires Air 3 and Water 3?

When FE was first announced they were showing off campaign content only to the press but the Beta is only the strategic game mode. She will be in the campaign mode which will probably be added to the beta right before release but I don't remember any quotes from the devs on this topic.
Yeah i'm in the same boat actually... but it feels really good once you get the newest version out and its all working.
You open up your spell book and cast a city spell. I think everyone gets the research bonus spell, while other spells require certain magic proficiencies (such as Earth 1 for Enchanted Hammers)
And for the purpose of contrast... here is the worst start ever! https://www.dropbox.com/s/4yvp88k60cqcwwz/FallenEnchantress_1345591024.png
I thought it was ridiculous from the beginning. While it works okay right now, I will probably mod it so that units only gain 1 hp/level and balance the game around that.
I noticed this too, that the AI was very weak compared to me and yet it managed to complete an Epic quest before I could. Maybe since the AI uses auto-resolve instead of tactical combat the formula for calculating the victor needs to be tweaked?
I don't see why we can't change the colors in game at will. I made a nation with black as their color but it makes the EXP bar impossible to read. I wish I could just change it right there instead of starting a new game. I also want to be able to customize my gear color if possible. Heroes I hire often have black leather armor while my leather armor is tan.
I don't see any reason why you need the crown item. You can get plenty of mana from shards, and you don't really need spells in battle until mid-game. I would just get 2 points in fire magic since flame dart is the only spell you need. Try to get fire magic three so you can do focus + flame dart against single targets and then fireball against groups. I get the staff with +25% spell damage instead and I don't take any traits for melee combat. I like getting
Yes if you hover over the encumbrance bar on a hero it shows you that its simply adding up the weight and a certain % of max capacity triggers the initiative penalties. Units work the same way except you can't see those weight numbers in the designer, you can just see what happens to your initiative.
The penalty isn't really that bad if you run your kingdom on low taxes. There are usually enough unrest reduction buildings that eventually the city will be normal. You can also get a path of the governor hero in there to help settle things down. My main issue with the system is that the AI doesn't produce unrest reducing buildings and their cities are generally undesirable so I usually raze them to keep my growth high. I wish the AI cities were actually worth k
