The AI controlled sovereigns get free paths at level 1 even on normal difficulty. Its an old bug.

The real power of improving your initiative is passing the threshold of double your opponent's initiative. Once you move twice every time time the enemy moves once you can kite, you can alternate between attacking and defending, there are lots of tactical opportunities. In general, going into a battle with 24 initiative instead of 22 is worthless though, you need to add in a weapon of +4 init, a warg, and a haste spell to really get going.
I don't believe there is a way to balance it so that heavily invested champions can solo "epic battles" and also trained units are still useful. There is not a wide variety of paths for champions, either you are making it as powerful as possible in combat or you are depositing them in a town for the governor bonus. FE needs trained units to be essential to any type of victory. It needs to be impossible to win without building trained units, and until that bala
I would way prefer to have flying units instead of seaborne units. If you think about it, it doesn't really make sense to bother building boats and traveling across the oceans unless the land is already fully exploited. Since the point of FE is that you start on a ravaged land and rebuild everything, it seems silly to spend resources on naval yards. Having fishing boats and things like that is useful of course, but I think the river buildings we have now cover that. <p
Kiting is not a problem at all, adding a turn limit will have little effect on my personal ability to kill the monsters with champions. I don't use kiting at all really, though it would help if the AI didn't waste turns moving forward one space at a time when they should be charging forward. I think the main AI change you could make is that AI controlled units need to stop attacking adjacent units exclusively and run around to get at your weaker units that are h
I think its great that you are taking the time to give feedback to the devs, but alot of beta testers make this mistake. You are NOT entitled to a response for Stardock for any posts you make, and you certainly shouldn't presume to call them out and say Stardock look at me! Generally they are polite and just ignore this in most cases but its rude to act so entitled. I understand why you may be frustrated. Many of the longer form posts that I make often get read by o
In Master of Magic, fighting monster lairs was very challenging and dangerous. There were flying units with ranged attacks (sprites) that could destroy a weak army very easily. Zombies and Ghouls, the basic death units could also punch a whole in your forces in the early game. If you were lucky you could fight a single guardian spirit or war bears. In that game, you get 1 EXP / turn, and 2 EXP/battle, with a limit of 1 battle per turn for each army. This meant that it takes many turns
The problem is that expansion is the only viable strategy. In most games you can choose between Rush, Boom, and Expand. In FE, rushing is not a viable option. Lets say you get leather armor and spears right away and create 2 groups of spearmen, join it with your sovereign and champion, and take out the nearest AI. What do you end up with? One crappy city with really high unrest, a main city that has little growth or resource production, and soldiers you have to pay wage
EA should just rename their whole company to Bioware : P All I can say is that Project Eternity is way more appealing to me than Dragon Age 3.
I haven't really played any of these since a really old star trek game. Are any of these games really deep strategy games or RPGs or is it mostly just adventure?
It seems to me that artwork is the most constraining part of video games today. Obviously if everything is just stick figures you could create a massively complex/intricate game but you would have trouble getting anyone to play it. So it should be interesting to have an art director as a game designer... maybe he can be a better judge of what features are a better value for development time. I personally think that game design doesn't have to
If the problem is that the AI is choosing specializations unwisely, than thats a separate issue that can be addressed. I think its fine to lock you into a choice, letting you flip flop waters down the strategy. If you want to choose the specialization, then build your own cities or capture them before level 2. I am just pointing this out because while it may seem like more fun it will probably end up being less fun. If you insist on modding
I am okay with ranged weapons lowering your speed by one or capping your speed at 3 or something like that. That should solve most of the kiting issues. Other issues with regenerate and initiative are really separate systems entirely and not really core to this issue. I think there are plenty of ways they could discourage kiting but in my experience the only thing that bothers me with the current system is that the AI moves one space at a time instead of charging in som
The AI uses Autobattle which in some cases is better off than using manual battle, in other cases it is worse off. Without experimentation its hard to say if there is an advantage to using it but that could be the case. The benefit is loosing less hp/battle letting you fight without having to rest. Another thing is that the AI isn't afraid to suicide their sovereign and champions against monsters. This means that potentially they can level up faster by fighting batt
Recently I haven't noticed the AI going for wonders other than the Tower of Erog, and it should notify you when they get built.
I think that there is an obvious trend towards more publicity in our lives. Sometimes its involuntary, such as legal documents which used to be fairly obscure when they existed in paperwork and are now easily searchable when put in an electronic format. Advertising firms and other companies are collecting vast sums of information about us that could easily be turned into a life-long profile. We are voluntarily posting huge amounts of information such as pictures, location data, videos, as wel
It may be included in the next beta version, or else you will have to wait until release.
If your files got messed up reinstalling might help. Could you post a screenshot of your menu that has this option missing?
While I enjoy RTS games I wasn't really looking forward to this game because it seemed very simplistic. The galactic war part might change my mind though...
There is are a couple Master of Orion clones on iOs I forgot the names. Ascension is a popular trading card game you can check out. Shadow Era is another trading card game that uses Unity and is free to play, with optional booster pack purchases (you can earn stuff in game but its really slow). Finally theres Hero Academy which is a casual asynchronous strategy game that seems kind of fun. Its free to play and you can buy additional teams if you l
Could you add hidden traps like spikes, poison gas, and falling boulders to these dungeons? That would be epic!
Bravo for fighting it out. If nobody settled these cases then people would stop initiating them. Also, its sad that I saw a few people complaining about how Elemental was a bad game with no mentions that I saw about how FE is coming out soon for free to all those people and is a much better game. Theres always an opportunity in these situations to boost brand awareness... lol. I bet kotaku is making alot of money of publishing this article... no reason why you can't
The general public is very ignorant, they don't understand how things work. Reading over the comments on QT3 and Kotaku, lots of people don't understand that while your behavior might upset them, that doesn't make it illegal. Seeing the Samsung vs Apple trial results, not even the Jury understood what was going on. I personally find it funny that she is going to all of this trouble over $25,000 if I read that number correctly. I suppos
Well, in the current system you get gold from rush buying things. That means that +3 production can turn into +3 gold per turn in some cases, which is pretty powerful. I think once that bug gets fixed production will be worth less. Some buildings do require too much production and should be balanced. The consulate is a good example, where +1 growth isn't a big enough difference to justify 15 turns of production on a city with sovereigns call already. Con
I have had this issue as well. I can't move the camera in tactical battles in any way except to zoom out with the mouse wheel and zoom in again at a new location. It has become a habit and it is very unfortunate.
