I meant actually adding stuff to the warfare or magic tech tree that you could equip to units. These would probably cost crystal. Maybe it could be a faction specific item?

I think its fine for a few traits that give global bonuses to research/production/gildar/mana. However, I think it would be nice if there were also traits that gave bonuses only to the city your hero is stationed at. These could be more powerful, and require you to make a choice: which city needs the bonuses most. This would make governors play differently, which would add some nice variety and also skirt around the XP sharing mechanic to a small extent.

I think its fine like that, but maybe they should add special staves/wands/orbs that give effects like "+5 defense while casting a spell" Also, weapons vs spellcasters could be nice, but unless it effects certain monsters as well I feel like it would be a waste of resources.

I think the solution for this is to allow units to "sentry" or "patrol" an area (one being stationary, the other going along a path). They would then give warnings like a city or outpost would. I personally don't want too many warnings and notifications, it bogs down the game.

Yeah please let us choose colors for each faction while starting a new game. This is a staple feature for strategy games... and its pretty darn simple to impliment for the devs.
The real issue with POTG is that you don't get XP for governing, and you need lvl 4 to get it, so you have to fight to get it.
I agree, I suggested before that champions should get XP for just sitting in a city, maybe 1/turn. Then give bonus XP for constructing units/buildings, maybe even bonus experience points for defending a battle. They should look at the "administrators" from Master of Orion 2

I am sure the devs will fix the monsters being too strong, but the number of places you can build a city will probably be limited. Both of these can be fixed with mods, I would assume. The only thing that probably requires specific developer attention would be the open borders thing, which is an issue others have complained about. It can be annoying but if all the other problems get fixed it can be overlooked, I am sure you agree. If you aren't having fun, you can try play

Is there a way to play with no fog of war (for the player, the ai needs it) to see exactly what % of the time they get attacked... and maybe in what situations. Obviously this is something the devs should do.

They could also do something relatively simple which is to split the traits into categories. So if you take a warrior trait, and you are in the warrior path, you get + 2 hit points. If you take a magic trait with the path of the mage, you get +1 spell mastery and + 1 spell resist, or something like that. Some of them could be "general" and not give any bonuses, this would still keep flexibility but guide you down the path. In terms of increasing t

In addition, based on the let's play video, it seems like it stacks with multiple units. I know that other spells can stack twice in some cases, so I am not sure from your screenshot if thats the case. So if you have 3 heroes with tireless march cast once on each, you end up with 5 movement points. This is worth experimenting with in any case.

Well there was a bug fixed recently where the AI's orders would get messed up and they would not leave a city for the rest of the game. Could there be a similar bug where the monster are having their orders get messed up, and they just wait around until they see a player unit, then they start attacking?

I think freeze is a little over powered. If you have enough mana income (+3 / turn) you can keep a stack frozen indefinetly. there might be a technicality where they move once in between casts i am not sure if casting it again overrides the previous one. In any case, you should use that too keep your undefended cities safe. Also... is there any chance you might try to take over Gilden once you have all the enemies in the bottom left corner taken out? It would prob

I noticed an interface bug in episode 8, right before the battle at 13 minutes. It says that the enemy has 5 units and you have 12... its actually 5 v 4 units and 15 v 12 figures... or whatever the proper terms are.

I think silver would be confused with white... how about pink? [e digicons]:karma:[/e] Also, I think brown would be a good replacement for another color... maybe orange -> brown

There is no difference between miss and dodge, its all in your head. I understand that you are confused, but the only way to change it is to remove the text that says "dodge" and replace it with "miss" I personally don't think its worth the effort to change. Its a game, its not a combat simulator... its not trying to model all the intricacies such as whose fault it is that the attack didn't connect (which will not be absolute anyways, something like 25% dodge, 75% miss, how

I think you should be able to share tiles with the AI units if you have a treaty. Similarly, I think the game needs better UI for dealing with multiple units on the same tile (both managing your own units and attacking neutral/enemy units. I also think you should be able to move "through" cities and outposts that belong to your ally, though this seems like it might be a complex feature to add.

Some people like the AI to play the same game as the player, and follow the same rules. Other players simply want the AI to provide a challenge while pressuring the player in very specific ways. FE is geared towards the first kind of style, so I don't expect the devs to make the changes you are requesting. However, I think that reducing the number of players or increasing the land size is probably a good idea. Maybe there should be larger minimum distance betw

As I suggested in another thread, a "tournament mode" checkbox in the game setup that gives every player a 4/3 start, + 1 shard + 1 wheat or something like that would allow players who don't like the randomness to be satisfied. It would also be good for multiplayer matches, if those are added post-release. I agree that units should probably defend at the beginning of battle, I assume that will be added once they are confident that auto-defense was a good addition. M

I haven't played the game but just in principle it seems like Potential should be removed from the game. It seems like a trait that should always be picked, since it pays for itself. I don't see an easy way to balance it against traits that actually improve your character. Unlike other traits which are situational, this is a trait that has a general purpose. The only reason not to take it right away is if you need some early combat advantages. It turns into a s

Thanks for doing these videos... it allows me to contribute to discussion regarding the game until I decide to pre-order. Also... from Brad's video it seems like the staff lets you cast the fire dart for free, though it may have a limited number of uses. I would suggest giving that to your champion.

Well, sometimes an anti-virus will hold up a file, preventing it from being deleted. You could try installing the patch with your AV disabled. Its not unusual to get false positives... it all comes down to trust in Stardock and Patience if you want to wait and see if anyone else has problems.

I think the solution is to make the strong monsters more sedentary. They should stick to their lairs until X amount of turns have passed (based on difficulty) or until all of the weaker monsters within X tiles have been killed. Also if there's not some already... monster hunter traits (dragon slayer, elemental slayer, etc) might be a nice addition.

You had to have registered the game by the end of the year when the game came out to get the free copy. But, I think you can still get $10 (20%???) off... all you have to do is remember your password or gain access to your email again. You should contact stardock support instead of posting in the forums.

If I am not mistaken military units do not reduce unrest in FE. This is a mechanic used in other games to help incentivize garrisons even with a lack of military threat. Maybe each gildar of wages for units in the city reduces unrest by a few percent? This also has a side effect of making warlords worse at dealing with conquered cities... which I think might be cool.
