I think that being able to re-build killed creatures is a good solution, but I don't think its the only good solution. I think that one way to maybe balance the ability better is to make the summons start at higher levels with more shards. So if you capture a 3rd Air shard, you get a 3rd level creature instead of a level 1 creature. Is this ability abuseable by razing a shard and rebuilding it? I assume 10 gold is pretty cheap for

I believe that this bug was in previous versions and that restarting the client (Saving & loading is probably enough) will recalculate the values.
Combat gets tedious in most 4x games, thats why they have auto-battle. The AI will improve over time with more patches. If you are a casual player you may not notice the changes, since the core elements are the same. Besides better graphcis, UI, etc, the thing to look for is the special abilities of units that make them behave in a unique fashion. You will be required to make choices, between what technology to research, what perks to choose, what buildings to build. Mo
1. I think the loot system in Diablo is terrible, mostly because of the randomness. Even things like set items are actually a bad idea. Having better distinction between items by adding more unique magical enhancements would be nice, but I don't really see a problem with buying powerful items in cities. If the price is set at the proper amount, then there should be a good trade off between doing quests and getting semi-random rewards and saving up gold to buy exactly what you want. <
Technically, if monsters carry 0 weight, and most units carry at least a little weight, couldn't you mod it so that exactly 0 gives you no bonus, but having at least 1 weight gives you a bonus? I am not sure if you thought giving the bonus to monsters was unbalanced, if so this might work.
I would pay $5-10 depending on how much content was added. I think its a great idea.
Raymond E Feist. I suggest starting with Magician: Apprentice/Master. He is my favorite author by far. Also Devid Edding's Belgariad is pretty good. Terry Goodkind has a series called the Sword of Truth. I like it more than the Wheel of Time but at the same time I was disappointed by the later books.
+ Added Shieldwall as a henchman trait (+5 defense for the army) I suggest making this apply only to adjacent units, and perhaps increase it a little to compensate (maybe +8). More opportunities for tactical positioning of units would be nice, and it shouldn't be too hard to make the AI understand how to use/fight it properly.
Thats not entirely true. Games can have a long lifespan, look at gog.com. Many ubisoft games have online only drm and they get taken offline after a few years. This means that the long tail of sales is cut off, and it also reduces their audience. As more people get wary of the practice, more sales will be lost.
One way to help things out would be to create a set of societal norms. So make it so that when you declare war, you get a few turns of preparation before war actually starts. If you break this tradition, then you get an oathbreaker penalty with all other players, and maybe you even lose diplomatic capital and such. It might even generate unrest in your cities! I also think that enemy units should take attrition damage while in enemy territory. Maybe you could build a structure
If champions can flee then it makes fighting them super annoying. They could cast a blizzard or fireball spell then run away every single time you attack them. I think the current system is good enough, though I probably would prefer permadeath or the AoW 2 system. I agree that perks that benefit against certain enemy types would be useful. You have to remember though that because of the way units are created it is not trivial to make such distinctions. Horses are gener
Except that you can keep building a wonder indefinetly to deny it to other players. For example, lets say you can't afford to build the wonder right now but want to keep it for yourself. If what you are saying is correct, then you can have a crappy city that will take 1000 turns to build it, and then maybe in 100 turns you decide its time and cancel it and start building in a city with high production.
2 Things. 1) Every update to the beta is not going to make the game better. Many of the updates will make it worse. Thats the point of beta... testing out changes. 2) Your feedback is valuable, when phrased in a constructive way. Complaining about the game isn't as useful as giving a suggestion on how to fix it. Talking in generalized statements like "nobody wants ________" is not helpful since you can't prove that without making a poll.&n
I suggest crowdfunding the multiplayer mode... let people pay a dollar and have a goal of $10,000 or whatever it would take to make it happen. Maybe you could get 1000 people to pay $10, that certainly seems feasible if your audience is around 100k
Ive watched all of them so far. Besides trading cities with the AI a little bit and a few challenging battles there wasn't really any point where I thought he was in danger of losing. The first time he fights Magnar (sovreign) is seems like he might have trouble but Magnar didn't participate in battle too many times so that made things easier.
I think the solution is to add a Berserk Maul
I think the only way to really balance it is to change how overpower is given to units. If it was possible to kill a Forest Drake with a small elite team of soldiers with special traits for that task, then I think there would be an interesting choice to make. You can make a large team of 5 or 7 figure squads and hope that your armor and weapons are good enough, but its pretty risky. I think having to choose between monster slaying and human slayin
Its not really "beta funding" Its eccentric CEO funding. Basically Brad is funneling money into making video games, and using his software company to back it up. Most of the people playing the beta probably got a free copy from buying E:Wom anyways. I think alpha & beta funding are great but its very difficult to get people to play your game, much less pay for it in advance. As an indie developer, I can assure you that its not as simple as put
I really like this game. I don't like Civ much at all, though Civ 5 was interesting because of the 1upt. Warlock is everything I ever wanted out of a civ game, though it does have some problems. The reason I bring these up is that they are something FE can avoid. 1) Stack of Doom... yes its a problem? While they aren't constrained to 1 tile... I usually just wander around with a group of 2-4 units that are Uber powerful and destroy everyth
From what I saw in a let's play video, you can't target your own units with Blizzard, it won't let you. Instead what you have to do is target 2-3 squares away from your own units (in the screenshot this would be 2-3 spaces below the yellow soldiers) Once you set it up so the edge of the area of effect targets only the enemies it should work. I agree that this is confusing and it should highlight valid targets and invalid targets
If you buy fraps the newest version removes the 4 gig limit. I can't give any advice on the age verification... I never had to go through it myself. I record with Fraps and edit/compress using Virtual Dub, a free program. I use the free xvid codec to compress, it seems to work pretty well with youtube. Long videos at 1080p get really big and it would take me a long time to upload. I recorded an hours worth of footage for Legend of Grimrock and then realized that i
Why does it have to be opposite sex o.O I think marriage could be a cool mechanic... maybe just to give a special trait when they fight together (+10% attack & defense) As for children and dynasty... I think its pretty cool if it kicks in mid game since the champions would start at level 1 they wouldn't be too unbalanced against existing heroes.
I don't think its a duration problem since I saw an AI army with freeze attack the very next turn as well. I think that maybe it prevents the army from moving but doesn't reduce the movement points, allowing them to attack.
They could also tie the lair to the monster in some cases... so the lair is invincible until the monster is slain.
Which is why I suggested you can level up a governor by leaving him in the city, by getting XP from building stuff. Also, getting an extra 1 or 2 xp per turn. This argument is getting circular...
