I never really bothered with modding GalCiv 2, not because the mods were bad, but because it was kinda clunky to install mods. Hopefully this is not the case with FE. Civ 4, folks could have an .exe install mods and click to run mods, never saw that with GC2- I think that did a lot for modding.
In GalCiv you simply have to copy the mod folder to the Mods folder, and then sel
I wanted to give my voice to the crowd that wants the game to be the best it can be without modding. I see modding as additional content or alternative way to play (like changing all races into LotR races, or removing magic or removing city building). If modding is needed to make the game playable (worse case) or needed to make it better the game itself failed.
Obviously you know that's not the case with FE, right?
I thought the book that pops up and tells you the Sov story after each Ctrl+N was the punishment. It just keeps playing and playing if you restart the map.
I would put a 1-2 min. long cutscene that you cannot skip play everytime. Then say something like "the game thinks you just start a new game, so it plays everytime... muhahaha".
Since you posted those numbers on the Internet, they must be true.
Hehe just my thoughts. GFireflyE trust us, modding is good. Mods released immediately after the game is released can easily be explained by the long public beta FE had. Modders had access to the game for many months now and have been able to start and refine their projects. Serious reviewers will know and mention this, and will also praise how
No reviewer sees it like this. I have never ever read a review where mods where considered signs of a flawed game. And I have read hundreds that either A: complained that a game wasn't moddable or B: mentioned how great it was that the game was moddable.
True. Moddable games are very appreciated by everyone and this is also good for sales. I, for example, bought Rome Total War and Medieval 2 Total War only to play the Europa
I am quite curious about this myself. Here's a quote from Brad:
So I’m pumping the computer AI to “challenging”. At this level, he’s identical to the human player still except there’s a few more APIs that get used (a little more CPU gets used). Those APIs largely revolve around recruiting champions more aggressively and more intelligently handling quests. In the XML, these algorithms are based on 1.
The AI doesn't know how to use all the spells yet. I have to think that we will get boats after release. The logic on that is that they want to be able to add boats and at the same time, boat AI.
Fair enough. Although I can't say I miss the boats, but they could add a lot to the game if maps could be generated with separated islands.
I would like to see the AI learn how to terraform their way to my backdoor and use boats for a surprise invasion.
Aren't boats gone from FE? Also, and I've been asking this for a while, has anyone seen the AI terraforming?
Yes but here's the problem: will the AI adapt? Will the AI understand that maintenance costs means it needs to choose where to put its outposts carefully and not put them at every resource, just on the one it needs?
Valid point. I don't think the AI would give more thought about where to place outposts, but will adapt to keep its income in the green, in the sense that it will probably cut on spending.

I see some people saying "I don't want to try mods, vanilla should be perfect in every way for everyone". I was like that until a few years ago, and since then I don't really play unmodded games. I hope that when the game is released you will merge all your mods in one giant uber-awesome mod :D I didn't even know you were working on so much stuff, you make me feel more excited about your mod than the final game itself. I'm sure that if the game is a commercial success, interest in your mods will rise and talented people will probably wish to help you.
What we must remember about devs, not only from Stardock, is that at the end of the day they're running a business. As much as Brad loves his games (and we love him for that) and they're risking a lot with FE, they must still make a profit in order to put food on the table. So they must strike a balance between hardcore features and accessible features so that they appeal to a wide audience. Some people keep saying "but MoM had this, and MoM had that..." but for example I have never p
You said iTrading in the title, you're obviously infringing on some absurd future Apple patent and are gonna get sued.
May I suggest an overhaul of the whole governor thing? Cities giving XP for stationed governors, useful governor traits, etc. Here's a thread: https://forums.stardock.com/430749 Your mod looks very good so far, although I haven't tried it yet, and seems to address some issues people have been complaining about, especially boring city leveling.
http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2012/08/elemental-fallen-enchantress-hands-on-beta-preview He gives a very thorough insight to the game and points out the many good things and the few not so good ones of the Beta 4 stage of the game. I think this is good publicity.
There is definitely an improvement in the overall looks of the game by changing font rendering. I remember reading a forum post of someone complaining about it and I indeed noticed fonts were poorly rendered but I honestly never expected anything to change so I guess I got over it. But it really looks a lot better and it does make a difference. It's something we usually take for granted but it does make a noticeable difference and will add to the overall feel of the game. <
I was able to kill the sovereigns who resigned and they disappeared for good. It's still a bug, they just shouldn't be there in the first place.
I only bought the game a few days ago and already filed like 10 bug reports, so yes, I see how a fresh pair of eyes can see things a lot differently. I just hope all of this is constructive to the game in some way.

It was so simple and fun and you always got a sense of satisfaction seeing your sons walking in their father's footsteps an
This just happened to me too. Queen Procipinee of Pariden just hangs around after she burned her last city to the ground. I don't think you should control a sovereign after you defeat them. You should just have that satisfaction that you finally managed to kill the bastard. It's ok if you can control them if they capitulate. But they should definitely disappear of they resign. EDIT: I killed Queen Procipinee again after she was left standing there and now she's gon
I too am sometimes experiencing slow downs, but I have not played any previous versions to make a comparison.
wanted to insert screenshot here but don't know how
You must upload the picture on some photohosting site, like Photobucket or imugr, copy the direct link to the picture, and while writing the comment here on the forum, press the little button with the green tree in the editing window and just paste the direct link in there. They are all good points, some have been reported before so I hope Stardock has them on their list.
Well indeed for Wither the tooltip differs, but I still think they should only show the spell once, and combine the tooltips to describe both strategic and tactical effects, thus saving space and reducing the need to scroll through them.
