The speed at which the AIs get the towers is certainly off. This needs more balancing to ensure a proper and fair experience. Perhaps the idea to pursue the Spell of Making victory should be tied to a certain random trait the AI leader gets , or else all the AIs will pursue the Spell of Making, which is... odd. Also please take into account that if all AIs start building towers, all other AIs will start declaring war on them, which is not fun.
I finished a quick game on a small map on Challenging and Resoln built the 3 towers pretty fast and then got attacked by another AI, but they got me pretty worried. I think the towers are too cheap as they are now (only 50 gildar) and also the Spell of Making takes only 10 turns to cast (even though the victory condition description still says 25). It should take at least 15 to give you time to react, even if you have early warning.
Yes that's probably the problem because after I picked Earth Disciple, at the next level-up, Syphon Strength appeared no matter what was selected.
As seen in the images, upon selecting Death Disciple and hovering over Earth Disciple, Syphon Strength appears under Earth Disciple. When selecting Earth Disciple and hovering over Death Disciple, Syphon Strength appears under Death Disciple. When selecting anything else, Syphon Strength doesn't appear under any choice.

The diplomacy changes seem awesome. I hope they actually work well too. It's great that you're finally addressing diplomacy. EDIT: I hope everything we see in this changelog will make its way into LH too.
Now, the diplomacy works by players building up a rapport with different players over time. This means that you can check on the relations and it may say Neutral but show a ton of negatives (or positives) there that point to where your relationship is going in the future.
Does this mean that if I pleased a player over the course of the game, it won't turn around to kill me just because he's stronger? It's not some hidden malware that runs in the background without you knowing, funding terrorism. You can just start it up only when you need it.

You people need to realize that you can set Steam to not update your game if you don't want to. Steam also works offline just fine. Online authentication is only required for games that have another DRM implemented like Anno 2070 did, Steam does not impose this. Steam also supports beta patches and you can opt to receive beta patches automatically if you want to. It also supports updates to AMD drivers automatically and its memory footprint is under 30MB of RAM. It has

By replacing this with more unrest penalties, the game is moving in a more penalizing direction (e.g. Civ 3). The best game design is one that presents the player with two strong choices, not one where a strong choice is balanced with a weak one by just being penalized. In this case, the c

I know this isn't the thread for it but I would love to see city governors being introduced in the near future. Either Civilization style or GalCiv style, either way, although I like GalCiv style better, they would make the late game so much less boring. It's so bloody daunting to make a queue for every city you conquer and when you go on a killing spree, you suddenly find yourself with double or triple the number of cities you had and have to manage every one of them and it's suc
1. Diplomacy . It needs to be less random and more predictable. Also more useful. The AI is generally too aggressive I think, to the point where you can play the whole game without even bothering with diplomacy, because most people will declare war on you anyway. They're only friendly if you're more powerful than them. I think caravans and other pacts should have more impact on relations, and the AI should care a little less about military power, and
