My first city was overrun by spiders, and wiped out, but the game didn't end. Of course, my Sovereign couldn't create another city, either.

Since this will be the last public beta other than the one for modding prior to release, I'm wondering if we'll see some or all of the other victory conditions enabled.
Sounds like some great improvements. 3A was so much more fun that 3, I'm really looking forward to 3B this week.
Something else I forgot to mention. Those little notices in the upper right corner are too easy to miss. They need to have a tone associated with them, or at the very least, come floating down like the TW series.
Isn't there a tech that gives you some kind of espionage?
Not big changes, but minor tweaks: A way to reload without exiting the game first. An explanation as to why you apparently can't talk to some NPC's (the dialogue balloon is crossed out).
I would like to see an explanation as to why you apparently can't talk to some NPC's (the dialogue balloon is crossed out).
My Sovereign led an invading army against the A.I. and lost when trying to take over a town. Instead of respawning, I got a "Conquest Lost" message and final score - this in spite of the fact I still had two active towns on the other side of the map. Is that a bug, or is it Game Over whenever your Sovereign leads a failed invasion? I'm talking about 3A, by the way.
I didn't get in until B2.
Actually, I found out (the hard way) that it does appear in the main menu after you lose. So I think it may have less to do with the testing process, and more to do with making it a pita if you just want to recover from a stupid mistake. If that's the case, it should be an option like the Iron Man option in Armageddon Empires.
An adventurer with an attack value of 27 should cost a lot more than 39 gildars, imo. Even if most of that value is from his sword.
So here we are, close to feature-lock, and you still can't load a game without exiting and restarting first.
I just completed researching the level of Sorcery (2? 3?) that gives me access to Combat Magic, and I chose it for my breakthrough, but no new spells appeared in my spell book. Is it a bug, still locked, or am I missing something?
Even though I had everything I needed I couldn't train a Pioneer until I went to the design screen first.
In GalCiv II, there was a hotkey (ctrl-n?) that generated a new map without the player having to go through the new game menus again. It was a great way out of a crappy starting location. Seeing how many times I've started in the snow, will Elemental offer the same thing?
I thought Froggie said all the victory conditions would be enabled. I can still only select conquest.
Just to clarify - I don't want overpowered spells for free. But I do want to be able to cast some magic without engaging in research/citybuilding for 20 or so turns first.
Are you sure you aren't mixing crystal and shard?
I might be. The point is the same, though.
One thing I don't like is the magic system. First you have to find a source of crystals. Then you have to build a town (I thought town-spamming was discouraged), find a way to generate research point so you can research two different techs so you can then build an arcane lab to generate spell points and a crystal mine to harvest crystals. At the same time you're spending spell points to learn spells. After you have enough crystal and spell poi
New builds are usually released on Thursday
Having a Sovereign with a movement of 2.1, 2,7, or 3.0 amounts to the same thing - 3 tiles. Why bother with the distinction?
If your Sovereign were female I'm sure there could be an event that might kill off your husband.
Using Char as the determining factor of the success of a proposal was just off the top of my head. Right now it seems way too easy to get married. Perhaps adding in a dowry would make it more of a challenge. That way you could collect money when marrying off a daughter. I haven't seen any random events yet, but I would like to see spouses get killed off. Perhaps wives dying in childbirth.
I noticed last night that after rotating the map, I had to click on the very top of a square in the grid to select it.
Same happened to me.
