Looks like it was one day only, but I would have missed the deal without the thread, so [e digicons]k1[/e] . Been waiting to grab it ever since I saw it had gone to GG, though I figured I'd have to wait until the summer sale. Been checking out some of Das' Lets Play on it on youtube, since I only ever played the demo previous to this -- and that was a long time back. A lot of good info there, if others are like me and in the rank beginner section of seating

I walked out on the same movie . .twice. What Lies Beneath. Went with a female friend of mine, she freaked out about a third of the way through, and I told her we could leave if she wanted. A few days later I took another female friend, thinking "this one is made of sterner stuff." Got about halfway through. Luckily it was at a dollar theater so I could catch the end without too much pain. For sheer badness I probably would have walked out of Deathproof
Death shards are the same thing as life shards - depending on which side you're on (kingdom/empire) when you build over one of them, they will change "color" to match your faction. Ceresa (Resolyn) also has a spell that can turn any type of shard into a death shard. Yes champion injuries can be removed, by rare loot potions that you'll occasionally find from quests. But if you get a heavily injured champ sometimes its better to just station them in one of your citi
Its only worth it in rare cases to me. The most common seems to be using them with the Kraxis faction, since the special faction spell to convert a unit has a 99 turn cooldown (at least as of a few patches ago, don't know if that's been changed) so the only way to use the spell more than once or twice a game is to summon up some familiars. Each unit with access to that spell is on its own cooldown timer, so the familiar becomes really good (assuming you can get it to survi
A few more very minor issues and thoughts from the latest 0.99 game (Magnar, challenging, normal settings. Ended up with a conquest victory in about 4 hours). Bugs: --An weak odd hut quest location that didn't pop up a quest when standing on it --Captured outposts do not gain free roads with the economics tech. (at least in once case) --The build screen for cities occasionally acts a bit a bit inconsistently and takes extra clicks to le
Well just so long as the city militia isn't so good that I never have to build a normal unit for regular defense. Then I just can rush my doom stack even faster since my cities are good at holding their own. Guess it depends on how good the AI is at actually defending their cities with all the balance changes to spells and such, or if a Dirge of Ceresa / fireball/ whatever wipes the AI stack regardless of its equipment still. Interested to see how it'll work out.
I actually love the -25% land penalty. It gives meaning back to the visual indicator of the kingdom/empire lands, but more importantly I think it helps out tactics a lot more than just buffing defenders. Other than potential AI issues, the land penalty seems to come out as a clear winner in terms of depth of strategy. It discourages city camping, and gets armies out on the field, which is where I fight almost all my battles anyways. On paper it seems to add a lot to
I say good luck, and I hope that you have plenty of sales to reflect the great amount of effort that you put into this project, as well as honoring your commitment to excellence towards your customers. The level of fun and quality of the game that I'm getting out of FE exceeds my expectations, especially those of a year or two ago -- by quite a bit. I've had a lot of fun in the beta of FE, and have likely played it more than any of the other released 4x's that have com
The base of the problem seems to lay more in the lap of the convoluted legal and tax statuses of businesses in the country. When its easier to streamline things by considering corporations "persons" legally, or start taxing small businesses based on their owner's individual income rate, it throws a wrench in the discussion over taxes and jobs. Too bad things are (and have been for quite a few years) too partisan and too full of lobbyists to actually reform those things. <
Actually, to clarify, the army that pathed through ocean tiles was my own player army, which is why I noticed it. They had an auto move set a few turns away, and took a little shortcut through the ocean rather than traveling through 2x cities and some road that I controlled. Because of all of that I'm not sure if it saved or lost more moves for the stack than going the normal way, but it sure looked funny.
I know, I'm a terrible person for not making individual posts for everything I noted, but I wanted to pass what I could along in case some hadn't been found elsewhere. I scanned quickly at the bug list at least. Enjoying the games I have the time to play, though! Bugs: --Intro book to Lord Verga - text is too long and last line spills into the "Empire of Ythril" line (text overlap) --Occasionally can't plant a build
I had a similar experience in my first try at 0.982, I was playing a kingdom faction, had met 1 other kingdom and 2x empire races, I was at the top of the power rankings (around 35 or so, other races about 3 or so points lower). Empire races were either friendly or close relations, so I wasn't worried about them. Then I met empire race 3, who was at power 90 after a good start location/ rushing some heavy warfare units and some good drops. They wardecced me immediately
I suppose it depends on your tactic. If you use a lot of enchants early on or use mana liberally with a champ, I can see that being the case. If I'm on a faction that doesn't get free units (like Roslyn) I often find low level units invaluable, since I like to save my mana up. But by the midgame those trained units (especially in the larger stacks - I often rush up to cooperation pretty fast) are pretty good. I don't see them getting insane as, say crit hit
Per the FE coming to Steam thread, and Frogboy asking players for their strategies, I thought I'd write down a few of my tactics. I don't consider myself the best FE player by far, but challenging is pretty easy (and generally where I've been playing for balance testing). One of my big strategies in almost every game is mana storage. I don't cast many enchants with upkeep; I prefer an extra unit to help out, so in most battles the enchant isn't makin
Wait how are you guys completing the Master Spell? I'm pretty sure their is a xml error that makes it impossible to get the Forge of the Overlord.
Its possible. For myself, the final building was greyed out (saying not enough prestige - though I had more than enough) so long as the first 3 towers were being built. But as soon as they all completed, the final building unlocked, and it was possible to construct it an
Yes, several in fact. I beat 0.95 in a conquest victory, as well as a spell of making victory, and I believe one other way (was trying different methods with different factions). Those were all default settings, medium map, and challenging AI. I had one corrupted game (late game, almost beaten) that would not load. Default settings, large map, challenging AI. I haven't played another large map to test if that was the issue or not for myself, but that
Just noting another few bugs added to the OP, hope they help.
Good to hear that a wider audience will see the game, here's to plenty of sales, as I think the game deserves it. 1) Kneejerk was just Fallen Enchantress, especially as you're discontinuing WOM . . .but I really think it needs a primary title (Elemental or otherwise). If I said to someone "Hey, heard of Fallen Enchantress?" it doesn't sound like a 4x. It sounds like a game mostly about a Fallen Enchantress. Or more specifically like a JRPG title. I'd
While its more of a comment on the faction than the sovereigns, I'd agree that the most needy faction is Altar. I think the issue is more that its too spread out - you need to rush the magic tree or you lose out on the champions, which die way too fast otherwise. But their gear is down the warfare path, and if you want to take advantage of their prestige bonuses from the maps, you need to go down the civ path. In a way they're the least tied down race . . .but they r
do you remember what unit was casting Drain Life when you saw this happen? This bug isn't actually an issue with the spell but rather an issue with the unit casting it (the air elemental was broken casting titan's breath but when you cast it with a champion it's fine)
Good to know, I'll make a note of it the next time I notice this issue, since I can't remember offhand. I did notice a simila
I've found that I have pretty big mana stockpiles in most of my games by the midgame if I'm upgrading my shrines and not casting too many unit enhancements. Enough that the 500 mana for the spell of making seems like the quick victory option. Magic feels pretty powerful to me. Buffs early on can change things pretty heavily, and focused fireballs, horrific wail, etc later on wipes armies. I would also like to see better mage hero equipment. Mostly staff
Just a bump as I added another 10-20 things to the OP. I want to try to do them separately, but . .sigh, just no time right now. Hopefully they reach who they need to to help make the game even better.
I am seeing alot of these massive bug lists pop up on the forums. The correct order is to post in FE Support and only one bug per post. It doesn't take that much longer and will make sure each one is addressed. It is important to separate a critique from a bug so that nothing gets missed by the devs.
I'd like a dev to comment on if this is the case. I'm fine with that, but I would have
I think the text needs to be clarified more. Either the AI is trying to get me to agree to a trade with 0 sum which makes no sense(like if I traded 5 iron for 5 iron, I'd still have the same amount of iron at the end -- this is how I think most people would see this trade offer). If the tech trade of 25 magic knowledge for 25 magic knowledge is actually additive (ie I'm not actually losing anything, we're both simply gaining magic knowledge) the trade agreement could b
