One last comment: a lot of these ideas have been posted across many threads, and don't get answered even as "yes, no, or maybe". Hmm...I wonder if they're so busy making the mechanical game & engine work and then balancing that the heart and soul of the game still hasn't been significantly re-done. I think it will take a lot more than rebalancing to make this game what it was hyped to be; it needs a serious re-thinking.&nb

Elemental fanboys ... from the year 2012; man they suck. Just cause they have the best fantasy strategy game around ...
Oh man, just shut up. Here's your options. Keep on going like this and get banned. Be quiet and sulk. If you don't like the game come back in a while and see if it's ok then. Other than that, either give ideas here or don't.
Last Fall I said we were committed to making sure Elemental became the defacto fantasy strategy game of its age. But words are easy. So hopefully people are seeing that we're backing those words with deeds.
Well, you're on the right track, I'll give you that. To be honest, I could NOT see you guys going out and bringing MORE people into the fold, I would assume it would less people working on Elemental over time. Just
I agree, however I also think that with more seperation of roles the end product will be better by nature of design. Having fresh eyes on a project often helps - as Brad has mentioned, he was too closely involved with the nuts and bolts development of Elemental and couldn't provide that needed perspective. With Kael and now Jon on board, I feel that they'll have more than enough fresh perspective.
Kinda agree. But it
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/67016 Um, wow. This can only lead to good things. Arg, you beat me to it: https://forums.elementalgame.com/403448/get;2859792
I agree with this. I can kind of buy the additive nature of the attack (and to a lesser extent the defense, which IMO should scale with unit size but not as rapidly) but the behavior of AOE spells with groups is totally inexplicable to me, as a firestorm should cook 8 guys with swords just as well as it cooks one. I could actually see a case for some of the more pure magic based spells working as they do but anything that works
Available spells that are not linked to the sovereign's spell selection wouldn't be a bad idea, and would help by adding strategic choices if spells for champions were specialised.
This is a good idea, and it can help keep Champions unique. It's pulling a page from the MoM book, where you would find that one hero who had flamestrike, or the one person who could cast healing as well. They should have
In other words, the only thing that really stands out to you is unrelated to the place where you asserted that the problem was. This is in keeping with my own perceptions; the spells could use a fair bit of work, but the system is essentially fine.
I didn't mean specifically that the magic "system" had problems; there are deficiencies, yes, but the system is fine, I guess. As Frogboy mentioned and I agree with, it's more abou
I disagree. I think that the magic system is entirely fine. Do you have any actual flaws with it that you could point out?
Meh, I hate replying a long time later; most people have already responded with what I wanted to say. I'll add this: -spells are weak (compare to any other fantasy strategy game that people consider "classic," and there's no comparison). -shards are now, with the new changes, almost
Good list, seems like it covers a lot ... except for one thing ... A BETTER MAGIC SYSTEM! I know that this has been mentioned a LOT (and I mean a lot) on the forums, but seeing as how your list doesn't specifically state anything about the magic system (I know yo
Comodo firewall is completely free and the absolute best firewall out there. Others above have recommended it, and it's true, it is the best. I have tried most firewalls, and nothing is as simple and powerful and smart as comodo. And you don't have to pay a dime for it (there's no dumbed down version that's free while a stronger one is for sale; none of that). Give it a try: http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/
Very spot on review. Although in general I don't really care about lore in a game, so the "bland world" isn't something I feel is missing for me personally, but I can see how it detracts from the full experience for other players.
I would totally agree with you (I kinda do) except for the fact that I played the campaign. If I had heard beforehand how bad it was, I would have skipped it and played
One thing that might help is being able to cast multiple spells per turn in combat. The OP is right, if you can swing your sword 5 times in a fight per turn, why not at least being able to cast 2 spells per turn? I had an idea about it here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/402751
I would also make it Master of Magic like, where the higher the intelligence you choose at the start, the higher level spell you CAN pick (you could still pick a lower level spell). Good idea guys, because right now if you choose a completely spell-casting sovereign, you're worthless at the start of the game for quite a while.
I think I have an idea for casting spells multiple times in combat. I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, but here goes. I think a spell's level should be converted to a corresponding number; so level 1 spells = "1", level 2 spells = "2," and so on. These will be your tactical combat spell casting points. In combat, your spell casters (all of them; this will be a global number for all of your spell casters, maybe) can only cast as many spells as the spell casting points. So i

Totally agree with the OP. I hope they fix this sooner rather than later (more spells, more variation, etc.). Because right now, the game is pretty boring to play, I'm sorry to say.
I have not had a crash since the game was released..... not a single one... must be your rigs
Your first line was ok, you should have ended there. Your second line makes you look like an idiot. A large percentage of people have issues, so it's NOT all because of their computers, not even close.
Trust me, I tried it when I saw your suggestion; shift-tab was doing nothing when the game was loading up. When I got to that error, all I could do, including shift-tab (which was still not working) was click ok. Now, after reinstalling it and it's working fine, I still can't shift-tab until I get to the main menu (new game, load, etc.). Then it works fine and I'm logged in like normal. Anyway, maybe you can shift-tab right away when you load the game and see that dragon picture, but
I don't get to that point. Before I get to the main screen, I get the popup and I have to click it; then I'm back to my desktop. I did uninstall and reinstall through impulse, and that DID fix it. However, just because it's fixed for me, doesn't mean it's not there anymore. I don't know what caused it, and I don't know if it'll happen again. And having to reinstall if it happens again wouldn't be fun.
I updated the game to the newest version (v) and tried to run it. I get the loading screen (main screen with the dragon, before I get to the menu) and I get an in game popup (not windows message window) saying "Failed to download data file. Please make sure you're connected to the internet..." blah blah. I tried turning my firewall completely off, antivirus off, I ran it directly, through impulse's right-click "Run" option, I deleted the folder in my documents and ran it so it would create a
You know, I think what it comes down to is that Stardock was the victim of extremely high expectations ...
Um, yeah you could say that. I think it was either the fact that people were calling it Master of Magic 2, that Stardock even tried to get the MoM license to make a new one, that there hadn't been a good fantasy strategy game in forever, etc. I can safely say those reasons caused my expectations to go sky high. They did
