Hi Folks, The game has frozen on me, and, whether I load the Autosave or the Previous Autosave, the problem is the same. I had finished moving and clicked on the "Turn" button. The green border around the button began to pulsate, and the turn did not progress. I will have to start a new game, because I can't get this one to move on. The files are in Dropbox. For some reason, it's working now.

Downloaded .88, started a game. Got the same sparkly artifacts on the map and in the blank spaces as I had with .85. Chose my research subject, then was simply mousing over various locations to see what was around, and the video failed. Screen went black, with just the cursor visible--but, when I moved the mouse, the cursor disappeared also. After a couple minutes, I Alt/Tab/Deleted to close the game and I got the message regarding the video driver fai
Here's a BSD crash. The zip includes the crash file and the debug.err. I had just downloaded the new version [0.85.001] and started a game. As soon as I got to the map, I noticed a lot of sparkly artifacts, both in the visible area of the map and in the empty space hidden from my view. I have regularly experienced crashes of my video card driver--I have an ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series--in the previous version of the game, so when I saw the artifacts, I was expecting a
Reloading autosaves seems to work fine. I've only had a few OOM problems. The one that usually gets me is the DX error.
Since updating to 119d, I no longer can save. It autosaves just fine, but if I try to manually save a game, when I click on "Save," the game freezes. It doesn't create any crash files, nor does it update the "debug.err" file. I have to Ctrl/Alt/Del to get out.
Still getting the DX Error: invalid call with 119c. Happened after advancing the turn. [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=39Q3200B[/link]
Here's a debug file. I had clicked to close a window and it crashed with the "DX error" message.
I like to rotate the map so that north is at the top. The only clue to this is the orientation of town names. Therefore, I don't want to see the names orient themselves to whatever angle the map is currently displaying, as I'll lose the only means of determining north.
I'm still getting the "DX error: Invalid call" crash with 1.11 I've uploaded the debug.err file. This had been cleared up until version 1.1, but it has happened often with 1.1 and 1.11.
Here's another. They're coming fast and furiously. Also, I'm getting a lot of display failures--another thing which hadn't happened in a long time. As it stands, the game is pretty much unplayable in any fun sense. Hope you can correct this soon. [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=02CMA940[/link]
Got a DX error, followed by a crash. If I recall correctly, I haven't gotten one of these since that first flurry of patches post release.
I agree. The early game creatures are too strong suddenly. They need to be toned down!
Here's another ctd--happened on ending the turn: [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z2G0AYX3[/link]
Here's another. It happened after ending a turn.
Here's another. It occurred when I clicked to exit from a dialogue box indicating first contact with another sovereign. By the by, I saw CariElf's post, and I finally learned where the debug.err file is, so it's included this time.
Here's a ctd, not too far into the game.
I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem, but each caster can only sustain a certain number of spells. If, for instance, you've summoned a large number of creatures, you can eventually reach that max limit, and will be unable to cast another spell until you cancel one of the ones already in effect.
I read another post about the same problem, and, yes, I had a unit on autoexplore which was causing the problem. So, I've been able to resume the game. It would still be nice, of course, if this issue could be resolved, but at least it didn't force me to quit a game after having played for so long.
Here's a saved game in which the turn will not advance. I never had this problem when it was a common one, but it's happened now--approximately 950 turns into the game. I tried loading the atuosaves, but they're stuck too.
I don't know if this sort of thing is possible in a PC game, but it seems that expanding the interaction with NPCs would greatly improve the atmosphere of the game. Right now, the choices are: 1) hire, 2) fight [if a "creature,"] or 3) ignore. It would be nice if NPCs could provide information, as they do in RPGs. "I spotted some fertile land to the northwest," or "I recently encountered a new kingdom, called Capitar, to the east of your territories." Any little bits
[quote who="Yellowstone_1872" reply="4" id="2789089"]If you are currently controlling a unit that can hire an NPC, you can left-click on the NPC stack, then go to the tab for unit actions and a hire button should be available. [/quote] Ok, that worked. I'd never hired NPCs that way.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but I couldn't get it to work. Right-clicking, the usual way to "speak" with an NPC, fails to do anything. Left-clicking selects the square, but then it is no longer possible to "speak" with an NPC, since one of your characters must be selected in order to do so.
Thanks. I'll give that a try.
Don't know if anyone else has encountered this, but I'm seeing more than one NPC moving together with some frequency. Unhappily, when this is the case, I can't recruit either of them. Hovering the cursor over their square brings up the "negotiation" bubble, but right-clicking does nothing.
Sorry, my mistake. I'd seen this problem mentioned earlier, so, when I couldn't use a combat spell, I assumed, too quickly, that the problem still exists.
