But, when I tried to cast the spell to improve city performance, I wasn't even in the city.

Again, just advancing turns, waiting to build up some cash, when it crashed.
This one followed in just a couple of turns. I may give up until the next version is released later today! Once again, trying to end the turn, plus I got the Data Execution Prevention message again.
This one followed the last one within a few minutes. I had pressed "continue" on the research screen. As is often the case, I received a message that Data Execution Prevention had shut down the game to prevent damage to my computer.
I had a crash or two between this one and the last one I reported, but they didn't generate files. This one did. It occurred as I was pressing the button to advance the turn.
Since the betas, I have never been unable to cast a spell within a city. For instance, if summoning a creature, I always have to cast the spell beyond the city itself. This was not a huge problem; however, I recently tried to cast a spell to improve city performance--hadn't tried that before--and, once again, the spell could not be cast. This is more of a problem than not being able to summon creatures within the city! Is there something simple I'm m
Here's another crash file. Unhappily, I don't remember what I was doing. I've been experiencing numerous crashes, but only rarely do they generate a crash file, so I don't always look for it. By the time I noticed this one, it was an hour or more after the crash occurred, so I don't recall what I was doing. I hope the file is till of some use.
This time I was trying to reload a saved game from within the game. It crashed, and I got a message that Data Execution had acted to prevent harm to my computer.
Here's another one. No error message this time. I was simply moving my stack again.
Hi Folks, Got quite a few turns in before my first crash, but I finally got one with the same "DX error: invalid call" message that I regularly got with the beta. I've included the link to the file, but I don't know if it's related to the crash, as it's time-dated three hours before the crash. However, that's about the time I installed the game, so I don't know what it could be. The crash occurred when I attempted to g
Here's another. It occurred, as many of my crashes do, with a freeze of sorts. I can navigate around the map, open other windows, etc., but I cannot advance the turn. Eventually, when I tire of waiting for the game to proceed, I press Ctl/Alt/Del to get out, That's when the DX error message appears, followed by the other error messages--altho I do get these messages on more typical crashes, also. I am continuing to experience crashes, either during play or upon exiting from the game, which result in the "DX error: invalid call" message, plus either the message regarding the failure of the display driver or the shutdown of the game by Data Execution Prevention. I also finally got another crash file. [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BKFFE0EL[/link]
I fail to understand how one's failure to take advantage of a particular offer constitutes being "cheated."
Finally, a crash file is generated--although I didn't realize it til today. [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XIV8R9E2[/link]
I was able to play quite a while in windowed mode, but it finally crashed again, with the message about the DX error invalid call. Once out of the game, I again received the message about the display driver having stopped and recovered. It still doesn't generate any crash files, though.
Nope. I haven't done any alt-tabbing while playing Elemental. I still can't play more than two turns without a crash. And the one error message came several times when I finished playing and had exited the game. I will try playing in windowed mode, however, and see if things improve.
Now, I'm getting a crash with the error message, "DX error: Invalid call." It keeps recurring--I can only play a turn or two before it happens. Unhappily, it does not produce crash files.
I've also had two crashes which generated a message that the display driver had shut down and recovered. Doesn't seem that these crashes generated the usual crash files.
Here's another. Both of these occurred after exiting the game. Even though I had exited, I got a message saying that Data Execution had shut Elemental down to protect my computer. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J6D5BNLM
Got my desktop repaired, so I can resume participation. Here's my latest crash: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OB3FQTQ3
I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of tactical battles generally. For one thing, a human can usually outplay the AI on a tactical level with ease, plus, I enjoy the strategic elements, while tactics ends up being more micromanagement. However, I do enjoy watchng them play out sometimes. This is how I play AoW:SM --I choose manual battle, but then I let it run automatically, so I can see what's happening and refine my force organization to optimize my chances of winni
When you have a group selected, their icons apppear in a row on the right, above the group stats, Select the one who's ggot the item you want to place elsewhere, and click the "Item" tab to show the items. Click and hold on the item you wish to transfer and drag it to the icon of the intended recipient in the row I mentioned. When you release it, the item will be transferred. If the original owner possessed more than one of the item, one will be transferred, the other[
I imagine that, as the AI becomes implemented, such tactics will become much riskier. Right now, we're "playing" against exceedingly passive AI players.
[quote]What error is being displayed on the BSOD specifically?[/quote] I can't remember most of them, but the last--and worst--one said something about a clock interrupt not being received by one of the processors.
Once you control-click to select a group of units, you don't have to click on the little arrow. Just right click where you want them to go, and they'll all exit simultaneously. As for parties/squads/companies, units must be recruited/trained as a party/squad/company in order to be one.
