Combat spells are no longer available for use once they are researched. Hope this can be fixed soon.
Hrothgar
Lita knows the processes of magic--or, at least is able to research them--but she doesn't have the innate power to actually cast spells. Only the sovereign does. It's like a person who can't speak. He/she might be able to write excellent speeches, or help someone else to do so, but wouldn't be able to deliver them However, if the sovereign casts the spell "Imbue Hero," he can grant the hero casting ability--at the cost of losing some of his own power.&
I've had it with other types of units--shrills, Drath, etc. I discovered that, if no city is close enough to the site--even if it's within your controlled area--you can't train the units. Just build another town near the site, and you'll be able to train them from that town.
And another, which occurred after auto combat, again. [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R4508Q04[/link] However, I'm about 850 turns into the game, so a crash every few hours is not so bad.
Yes, I would like to see some limitations to the type of magic one can use, a lÿ Age of Wonder:Shadow Magic or Dominions 3 . It would probably be best if you could choose the particular one you want via research--this way, you could pick it according to the shard-type in your vicinity. Perhaps, when creating a character, allowing for one type of of magic could be free, while additional choices would have to be paid for in points--cheap enough to make the
I'd rather not go to localized resources. I can't imagine any way to do this without adding more micromanagement than I want to deal with. I would rather see buildings which enable higher level units to be built, but this would have to be done carefully, as it's hard enough to build buildings while still leaving room for enough houses to allow the town to level up.
Here's another one. It occurred when I pressed to go to the next turn. [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IOSC8WD9[/link]
Here's an OOM crash with the latest patch. I had just finished an auto combat.
A small suggestion: I'd like some strategic spells which can inflict damage on units. It would be nice to be able to use magic to deal with some of the more powerful creatures, without having to risk one's units in tactical combat.
Yeah, as I said, that was the second overpowered unit I stumbled across. The first was a shrill with a defense of over 30,000 and an attack of more than 16 million! But, that was prior to the patches from Thursday/Friday. I have the screen shot--altho I don't know how to make it visible here. What I don't know is, where are the saved games?
Yes, this constantly happens to me, too.
I've come across my second unusually strong unit--a single pack dragon with a defense of 477 and an attack of 2489. I took a screenshot and saved the game, but I don't know where the saved games are, so I can't upload it. I hope this is not supposed to happen, because I have no idea how to deal with such a strong unit.
[quote quoting="post"] 2. Performance Issues People with awesome rigs are getting crummy performance. This is the next major ‘bug’ on our list, and we’ve made some major headway. Most of the issue lies with the LOD on zoom technology that fades things out as a zoom percentage is reached. As overall zoom range, specific LOD levels, and new tile diesigns are tweaked and added, the game seems to be displaying many objects, in general, when zoomed out. Cod
Here's another DX error crash: [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YPCYYKSD[/link] I was attempting to select a city from the list in the upper left when it crashed. By the way, prior to these last two patches, the game seemed to be more-or-less stable, but now it's crashing frequently again.
I'd like to see the "if the sovereign dies, but has an heir, the heir becomes the new sovereign" solution, but I wouldn't want to change the basic idea. It affects the human player equally, making it dangerous to send your own sovereign against an enemy city, so I'd like to keep that, but the heir thing is a good idea.
Sorry, but I no longer have the save, however since that occurred prior to the last two patches, hopefully it's gone now. No, the exact number of hit points were 33,031, and the attack figure was 16,358,274. I have a screenshot, but I don't know how to make it show up here. Also, my previous two crashes did not generate crash files, but here's a new one which did: [link]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ORVCVZYA[/link] It also produced the "DX error: invalid cal
Still getting the crash with the message "DX error: invalid call" with the newest [1.06etc.] patch. It came pretty early in the first game with the patch. As has often been the case, it generated no crash files.
With the latest patch, I'm still getting crashes, including this one, another DX error. But, I also experienced something new. I ran into a shrill with 33,000 hit points and an attack of 16 million--yes, million ! I have a screenshot which shows it, but I don't know how to post it here. Needless to say, if it's in my way, I've got to forget about whatever I was going after.
I've played a lot of turns with the latest build--over 300--but I'm experiencing a crash that I can't get past. I really thought everything was going to be ok, but when I reload the save after the crash, I can't get past this point. I get a message that one of the factions has been defeated, then, either on closing that message, or when hitting the "end turn" button, the game crashes. I hope the next patch fixes this, because I was really starting to enjoy t
It would be nice if, when an item-carrying character is killed, the victorious side could pick up his items. As far as I can tell, this does not happen.
I support the OP's points, and vieuxchat's idea regarding defense. Combat definitely needs reworked.
I've noticed already a number of players choosing female sovereigns, because it's easier to find a mate and get one's dynasty started. I've had games where, as a male sovereign, I've never encountered a recruitable female. However, choosing a female to avoid this seems kinda cheesy, and is likely to become the standard play because of the advantage. To offset this and make choice of sex less lopsided, I suggest a period of pregnancy prior to the birth of a child, during whic
I didn't know about the cap on number of enchantments. That could be it, since I had a number of summoned creatures. Thanks for the info.
Took a break, started a new game. Played for quite a while, but another crash. I ws trying to select a stack when it crashed.
Yeah, I noticed that when I was posting the next one. I went ahead and called it 9, since I already skipped 7. Oh, well--I guess we all make mistakes.
